Have You Seen Me? by Kate White is a recommended novel of suspense.

Early in the morning Ally Linden arrived at her office disheveled and rain soaked only to discover she didn't have her keycard. Once her boss arrives, she is shocked to learn that she hasn't work there in five years and she faints. At the hospital Ally discovers that she is suffering from a dissociative episode and she can't remember the events of the last two days. She also doesn't have her handbag or cell phone. She does remember that she is married to Hugh, is a finance journalist, and other facts are readily available, but she cannot recall a single event from the last two days.

After finding a wad of bloody tissues in her coat pocket, Ally wonders if she saw some traumatic accident or if a past experience could have triggered this event. Ally decides that she needs to hire a private detective to try and uncover her actions over the last two days. She knows there was tension in her marriage because she is not ready for children, but could a fight over this trigger the dissociative event? Her husband seems caring, but distant and her best friend is not available, so she turns to her brother and therapist for support. She also feels, at times, like she's being watched.

Admittedly when the story started out with Ally not remembering where she was for the last two days I rolled my eyes, but I went along with it. Most of this uneven suspense novel consists of Ally trying to recall events and tracking down clues. While the writing is very descriptive, the pace is slow at times which made the novel drag a bit for me. I also tired of some of the descriptions of clothing, food, and homes. If you enjoy all of these details all the time, then it is very likely you'll enjoy this novel more. Frankly, I almost set this novel aside more than once due to the uneven pace.

On the plus side the characters were well developed and realistic. White throws in plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing and there are enough twists to keep you reading. The ending though.... rushed and unbelievable. 3.5, but I'm rounding down.

Ally Linden arrives at work early to discover it's not her workplace but the place she worked 5 years previously. Where has she been, why can't she remember where she's been for several days, and why did she go to her last place of work. She is now a personal freelance finance manager with clients, podcasts and more. Was it a fight with her husband that caused her amnesia? Is there something seriously wrong with her? As Ally seeks answers to her questions she moves forward with her freelance work while turning to a psychiatrist and a private eye. The last thing she can imagine that could have caused it is remember something that happened to her way back when she was only 9 years old. Questions, questions, questions. While the book was suspenseful and did surprise me at the end, there were so many plots/subplots to the story that I questioned what this or that had to do with Ally's problems? I found it difficult to relate or remember Ally once I finished the book before I came back to review its content. Have You Seen Me is a quick read with a surprise ending so Kate White followers will enjoy her latest work.

OᐯᗴᖇᐯIᗴᗯ: One morning, Ally arrives at work only to discover that she hasn't worked in that building in five years. While she knows her name, she is trouble coming up with other details of her life. Even when most her memories return, she is missing a two day period of time. Ally embarks on a mission to find out what happened to her during the lost time.

ᗰY TᕼOᑌᘜᕼTᔕ: I was hooked from the very beginning of this one. Ally was desperate to find out about her missing time and honestly, I didn't trust anyone in her life. While Ally put her full trust into certain people, like her husband, her brother, and her best friend, I found everyone suspect. The story took a strange turn that I didn't expect at the end, and it was kind of jarring. Otherwise, great novel!

What would you do if you went to work one rainy morning only to find out you haven't worked there for 5 years? This is what Ally faces one seemingly normal morning. After collapsing she ends up in the psychiatric ER and is diagnosed as having experienced a dissociative state. She gradually starts to put together the pieces of her life...all but 2 days that remain completely blank. As she desperately tries to remember these two days she begins to wonder what happened to her to cause this. Was it something from her past? Is someone trying to prevent her from getting her answers? And why? Twists and turns abound as Ally works to get her answers.
This is an enjoyable, compulsive read that is part thriller and part mystery. Kate White at her best. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

So-so thriller with strange twists and turns

I liked the way this newest thriller from author Kate White started out.

Ally Linden walks into the office building, drenched by the rain, and heads to her office. She finds out she forgot her key card and has to wait for someone to let her in.. When the CEO arrives, who she has had a relationship with, she finds out she hasn't worked there for five years and actually can't remember anything but her name and age.

At the hospital she starts remembering more but is still missing two days out of her memory. She remembers she's married and works as a personal finance journalist.

She ends up hiring a private detective firm and personally starts delving into what might trauma have caused her to lose the memories of those two days.

I liked the first part of the book as it proceeded, the revelations got more bizarre. I do have to say the ending surprised me but it was rushed and didn't feel at all realistic. And there were a couple of side stories that didn't ring true either.

I have read other books of White's that I enjoyed much more so this one won't cause me to quit reading her books.

I received this book from Harper Collins through Edelweiss and Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

I read this book in less than 24 hours. I literally could not put it down!

After losing all memory of the past two days, a woman struggles to piece the missing days together.
Could her childhood involvement in a crime have played a part in what happened? Are her friends what they seem? A very riveting story with twists and turns to keep you guessing.

I received Have You Seen Me by Kate White as an ARC from Netgalley. I requested the book because I love Kate White's Bailey Weggins series and I also enjoy her stand alone books. Have You Seen Me is one of her psychological thrillers and I really enjoyed it, Ally Linden arrives at her job one day to discover that she hasn't worked there in 5 years. She then discovers that the past 2 days of her life are missing. She hires a private detective to help her discover how she spent the past two days which is a little unusual. Ally also had a traumatic event from her past that White weaves throughout the current story. The twists and turns kept my interest and I was surprised at how it ended. Overall, a good read!

Am I missing something?
This book had such a good start. It had a lot of potential but, wow, it fell so flat at the end that I feel like I am missing a chapter somewhere.
Poor Ally is so lost and confused because she has completely lost her memory for the past few days in her life. She wants so desperately to get it back, which I would be too! There is a lot of information missing, so when some comes back its welcoming. BUT it is the wrong information that comes back to her. The information is tied to the dead body she found when she was a child. Is her amnesia interlocked with the dead body? Is the information that came back to her going to hurt her in ways that it has hurt others?

Like I said, this book had such a good start but then the conclusion just smacked you right in the face and it was like, uuuhhhh okay??

I cannot remember the last time I couldn't put down a book and finished it in a day!! Have You Seen Me? by Kate White is the thriller I needed to sweep me out of my life and into a twisty "what really happened" tale. Ally's adventure's to find her lost time were realistic yet engaging and I had NO idea that the "big reveal" was coming. This novel is definitely one of my favorites by Kate White. Thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to preview #HaveYouSeenMe

Imagine this. It’s early on a rainy day. You arrive at your office building and realize that, as well as being soaking wet, you’ve lost your purse and phone. A coworker lets you into your office where you meet your boss and former lover. He gently tells you that not only do you not work there anymore, you haven’t been employed there for five years. You collapse in a faint.

This is how Have You Seen Me? begins. It’s a runaway, heart stopping psychological thriller. Ally Linden learns she has lost two days of her life and tries desperately to learn where she has been and what she has done. She hires a detective to help, her husband seems to be hiding secrets, her psychologist wants to see her more often, and that boss and former lover starts to contact her. Complicating things more are her distant memories about the long ago death of a child. As those memories become clearer, that case is reopened. Threats to Ally are revealed and the shocking conclusion is a complete and frightening surprise.

Kate White takes a break from her Bailey Weggins series with Have You Seen Me? While I’ve enjoyed the Weggins mysteries, this thriller is one of White’s best. I read it in one sitting and give it 5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley, HarperCollins Publishing and Kate White for this ARC.

This was what I would call a solid suspense/mystery. I was fully invested in the story but was left a little disappointed by the ending. It seemed rushed and predictable and not overly thought out. I did like the writing style and the characters but didn’t overly connect to the story.

I was very intrigued by the synopsis of this book and the beginning was very strong. I reached the 25% mark very quickly and was very interested to see where the story would go. Around 30% of the way through the book, the story started to drag and become laborious to read. I started to feel like reading the story was more of a chore and although I was interested to learn the answer to the mysteries, I was not excited to slog through to get to it. I finally began skimming the story and by the end I was feeling like I was in a bit of a reading slump. I think if this book would have been condensed and edited down, it would have been much more effective and enjoyable. It wasn't the book for me unfortunately.

I received an e-copy of this book from NetGalley and Harper Collins to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My first read of author Kate White. I will definitely be picking up more of her books! Great story kept me guessing...never saw that ending coming! Great read ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book started strong for me but the pace ended up dragging on and on and on, which is unfortunate, because the premise excited me. I love an amnesia trope!! It finally picked up near the end, but by then, I was just ready to get it over with and just glad that there was some sort of conclusion.

I started out liking the main character but that quickly took a hit as she increasingly got on my nerves second guessing every.little.thing that came along. Was some of it true? Yes, but the writing just did not bring it altogether in a way that would leave me sympathizing with her.

Have you ever gone to work and then realized you didn't work there anymore and you have no memory of how you got there? This is how Kate White's new psych thriller begins. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book. This is definitely a page turner!

I really enjoyed this book! There was so much suspense that it kept me on my toes the entire time. I did, however feel like I was left with a few unanswered questions in the end. But overall, a good read!

This book dragged along at a glacial pace, which is unfortunate, because the premise excited me. It finally picked up near the end, but by then, I was incensed and just glad that there was some sort of conclusion. By “some sort”, I mean that the mystery was solved, but there was so much going on near the end that the excitement and drama of the resolution was watered down.

The writing was also mediocre, the prose was peppered with tired cliches, overused idioms, and an adjective overload. It reads like a Lifetime movie with B-list actors whose lines all fall flat. Dialogue between characters via text or email used a vernacular that wasn’t natural or common in the age group that was being represented. It was like a parent trying to be “hip” and sound like their kids.

With better editing, this could have been so much better.

Let me start with, I struggled with how to rate this. My enjoyment level and what I think about thrillers is very hit or miss, but the synopsis just grabbed me and I requested it. I couldn’t stop reading after about 60% and ended up staying up late and then sitting there in the dark with a little anxiety 😂 which is not typical for me - but some things bothered me and I decided to sleep on my rating.

Minor spoilers : the ending didn’t seem to wrap everything up for me! I, in general, prefer a wrapped up end, especially for a mystery thriller - I was suspicious of soooo many things that then didn’t get answered, even though the why she lost her memories was. There were two main mysteries - one from her childhood and one in the now (why did her memories disappear, what happened during those 48 hours) plus some minor ones (which I won’t spoil, but side characters acting cagey) and I just wasn’t sure we saw what was actually going on and as it was wrapping up, I had a feeling of “wait what about....”

My second issue was the why/who/how that impacted her - I can’t say it without spoilers, but it’s a trope that made me uncomfortable.

So it was interesting to me all along, nicely creepy, but with some letdowns, that might not bother anyone else.

Overall a very solid domestic suspense/thriller with plenty of tension. I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the entire time. What knocked down my rating was the rushed ending. I feel like there needed to be more page time dedicated to all of the threads coming together as well as the MC coping with everything. That happened.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
