Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title. While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

Laura

If you enjoy reading about women fiction genre with a dash of romance, then you will love this book. It's the perfect read who ever loves women fiction who are moving on their lives ad figuring it out as they go. Nothing is ever planned when you start moving on.

I'm going to be completely honest and say that I probably would've DNF'd this one had it not been for my love of Susan Mallery. Her books are usually, fun, easy, comfort reads for me.

Unfortunately, while this book started out enjoyable for me, I lost interest along the way.

It ended up feeling a little contrived and juvenile to me--not what I'm normally used to from Mallery.

With that said, I'm of course, not giving up on her. After all, not every author is going to have a hit every time.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. My review will be live, at the link given, on 9/6/22.

In The Friendship List, author Susan Mallery transports the reader to the Pacific Northwest town of Willowbrook, Washington, to follow the summer of change and self-rediscovery for best friends Ellen Fox and Unity Leandre.

Ellen Fox is a single mother and high school teacher. Her seventeen year old son Cooper will be entering his senior year of high school in the fall.

Unity Leandre is a widow and owns a maintenance / handyman business.

Ellen and Unity have been best friends since childhood. Ellen finds out that her son may not go to college even though he wants to got to UCLA on a partial wrestling scholarship because he's worried about the money and leaving his mom alone, Ellen knows that she has to do something about it. Ellen talks to Unity and they come up with a plan they call The Friendship List, where they make a pact to challenge each other throughout the summer to step out of their comfort zone and make changes in their lives. Ellen is determined to convince Cooper that she does have a life, and will be fine while he chases his dreams in college. Meanwhile, Unity has been stuck in a perpetual grief for three years since losing her husband Stuart, and needs to get out of her rut and move forward with her life. What ensues is a summer of change for Ellen and Unity, as they accept the challenge of The Friendship List, and rediscover themselves, and learn the meaning of love, friendship, family and moving forward with their lives.

In The Friendship List, author Susan Mallery easily captivates her readers' attention with this beautifully written tale through a seamless and flowing storyline, and characters who draw you into their lives with a strong emotional pull, along with their complexities, flaws, fears, heartaches, heartbreaks, and longheld secrets.

The Friendship List is a wonderful story that engages the reader to follow along as this summer of change will bring plenty of drama, emotions, and trials and tribulations, as Ellen and Unity are determined to complete The Frienship List. Throughout the summer, Ellen and Unity's bond of friendship is strengthened as they discover that life is full of humor, heartache, and an unexpected second chance at love. I loved the strong friendship between Ellen and Unity, as you follow their journey of rediscovering themselves, you will feel the full gamut of emotions along with them.

The reader will be kept engaged as this heartwarming story unfolds. With a cast of interesting characters, The Friendship List is a compelling story about love, friendship, family, and second chances in life.

This is such a great best friends story. Ellen and Unity make a list to help each other get out of their rut/comfort zones. One needs to show her son that she will survive without him if he goes away to the college of his dreams and the other is a young widow who needs to finally move on from losing her husband and try to let love in. Will they find love? Will they go on some amazing adventures along the way? Will they find themselves? A fun summer read if you need to pick something up for the beach!

This story ended up not being what I was looking for. I could see people enjoying this, but I was not the target audience. Did not finish.

Oh the joys of parenthood, all the downs make all the ups even that much better.

Ellen Fox is an absolute hoot! And such an open book heroine you can’t but help like her. A single mother to her 17 year old Copper (son), she strives to make sure he has everything, but now it’s her turn. Can she handle discovering new things about herself?

Unity Leandre is Ellen’s BFF and partner in crime. This unique heroine lost her only true love, Unity struggles to live on without him but her friends are showing her that it is possible.

Coach Keith ex NFL player turned high school football coach, single dad with a 17 year old Lisa (daughter) that in its self is a huge challenge add in having feelings for your best friend and discovering just how inexperienced she is.

Thaddeus is a sexy man, who is a business mogul and a divorced man. Thaddeus could not ever see himself settling again that was before a certain dinner guest showed him what he had been missing.

Heartwarming Hilarious The Friendship List is all that and so much more. Author Susan Mallery creates story’s that are loving, fun and uber sexy. Supporting characters are delightful and fun. Thaddeus’s Grandma is a love. The Friendship List reads as it should a story about true friendships no matter the issue the bond is strong.

RATING: 3 STARS
2020; HQN/Harlequin

The Friendship List is about a woman, Ellen who overhears her son say he can't go to college because she needs him too much. Ellen is widow, and knows she has not been living her best life to date. She enlists her friend Unity to help her convince her son she is okay. It was an okay romance/women's fiction novel. It is very predictable if that is what you need. (I don't mean that in a condescending way, but just as times you need a HEA romance.

***I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.***

A wonderful standalone novel by one of the romance genre's master storytellers. I highly recommend this book!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A good read by author Susan Mallery, but not one of my favorites.

I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this at the moment. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!

This is a romance/chick lit. The cover does not really fit the book. I really enjoyed the book, but it was not what I was thinking. Ellen and Unity are trying to get over something big that happen in their lives that has made them not date or have sex in years (a lot of years). During this book both of them gets over everything and starts dating again. I have to say I really love Ellen, but Unity I really did not love. The characters are super developed, and the plot was fun. Some of parts of this book is a little draw out. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (HQN Books) or author (Susan Mallery) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

For single mom Ellen Fox, raising her son was a joy as well as hard work but as he starts his senior year at high school and decides on a college, Ellen overhears him say he can’t go to his dream school as his mom needs him way too much. When Ellen hears that she is determined to make it a reality for him as well as show her son that she will be just fine without him as he begins to figure out how to achieve his best life. So, her best friend, Unity Leandre, creates a list of challenges for them both to do as each is stuck in their lives and this just might get them the motivation to move forward again. But as these two best friends discover, when they find who they are again, they discover that life is more than just staying still, it’s meant to be lived with joy and love even with regrettable tattoos.

I adore Susan Mallery’s books and her latest book, THE FRIENDSHIP LIST delivers a story filled with humor, love and more as two women try to rediscover who they are again even as they work on a bucket list of challenges that will give them motivation beyond their wildest dreams even as they try to move forward with themselves. The story is more about single mom Ellen it’s also about Unity’s life or her life stuck in the past even as the future beckons. Both women need courage to take the risk of moving forward and with Ms. Mallery’s trademark style, the reader is transfixed as these two go on their journey, complete with sexy men wanting them and regrettable tattoos aside. It’s a fast-paced ride from start to finish with captivating characters and a story that will steal your heart. What I loved about this book was the love between Unity and Ellen as well as the cast of characters that just made me giggle at times with complete abandon. I know I am not the only one who just loved Unity’s retired friend, Dagmar the most.

THE FRIENDSHIP LIST is more than two friends finding out who they are again but about taking a chance- on love, on life and a future even if that future is a bit murky at the moment. Susan Mallery delivers another standout story that I highly recommend and can not wait to see if she writes more in this little town as it was so entertaining.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement.

Try this if you're looking for a light read about two women who challenge themselves. Ellen and Unity have been friends for a long time and they've both just had wakeup calls. This is kind of a bucket list novel. Some of it is funny, some not so much but it's entertaining. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I usually turn to Susan Mallery's books when I need a fun, feel-good read. Unfortunately, The Friendship List just didn't do it for me. There were parts that made me laugh, but there were also moments that I found cringe-worthy.
I'll continue to read Ms. Mallery's books, but this one wasn't one of my favorites.

This book was so beautiful. Female friendships can be complicated for more reasons than there is ever space to list. It was refreshing and inspirational to see the evolution of friendships. I've highly recommended it to our patrons and they are enjoying it as well.

loved this beautiful book about the power of female friendships and the list that changes the one summer for Unity and Ellen. This was such a heartwarming and focuses on female friendships and honestly TOP TIER. I really enjoyed how they pushed each other and in completing the items on their list they surprise theirselves with change and maybe finding love. Also, I enjoyed reading from a slight older protagonist who are in their early 30's. This gave me a Hallmark feel good movie.
