I have been eagerly awaiting this book ever since the first book was released! The mythology involved sucked me in from the beginning, and ever since my mind has been waiting for more. Thankfully there is yet another book after this one, so I don't have to say goodbye just yet. Hooray! The characters are engaging, I really want a spin-off story about Raven's brother, Bear, and hopefully her other siblings get a story as well. Her family is so colorful and feel alive to me as a reader, which is the best feeling a reader can have.

Ever since her confrontation with the Corvid Queen and returning to her home, alone, Raven Crawford has been miserable. She can't sleep, her dreams are all about the man she can't forget, and she has come into possession of a strange stone that calls to her part-fae raven shifter soul. When the Lord of Shadows shows up unannounced, still as hot as ever and just as frustrating to Raven's libido, things get crazy...crazier than normal, at least. Raven is no longer just Raven Crawford, she is someone with power. Soon she must decide who she can trust and where her heart truly lies.

The angst between Raven and Cole is off the charts! Which just makes their romance all the steamier, let's be honest. I wasn't sure what to expect in this story, after things were left in such a muddle after the first book. Thankfully it was a cliffhanger that didn't last very long, as J.C. McKenzie is popping out books in this series at rapid speed. It was interesting to see Cole grovel, in his own way. It wasn't blatant but rather a subtle seduction. You can tell he truly cared about Raven in the way he put her safety above everything else, even at the risk of the Otherworld. He didn't want to rush her into things and put her at risk, and I loved that about him. He slowly got back into her good graces, and when he finally succeeded, oh, it was swoonworthy. It was such a long time coming, and I was so happy they both saw how good they were for each other.

The third book in the trilogy is hopefully coming soon! I can't wait to read more about Raven and Cole. Also would like to throw out a request for a book for Rourke at some point, please. I like him too.

Raven is now the Corvid Queen, she doesn't have a clue what that means! Almost incapacitated by her her lust for the Lord of Shadows she is trying to hold down two jobs whilst also learning about her Otherness and how to be Queen of the Corvids.

Like a curate's egg, this was good in parts. There was a lot of lusting after Cole, quite a bit of explaining of the world-building and less emphasis on the arc. In this instalment Raven is more involved in everyday PI investigations, even if they turn out to be linked to the struggle between the Others and the norms.

If I'm totally honest I wanted more plot, more supernatural, more detective work and less 'romance'.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This book was received as an ARC from J.C. McKenzie in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was thrilled to see that there was a sequel to the Raven Crawford series and the turmoil that she has gone through with her twin shifting into the most powerful Fae. Now having her shifting in control, Raven still struggles with living her new life working two jobs and still having enough money to be broke. All of her life struggles are still in play and now that she still has complications to tackle. Now she gets caught up in her latest case that she must choose who she can trust and get out of this smoothly so she can get on with her life. In my honest, humble opinion, I did like Conspiracy of Ravens a lot more because of how much action there was in the plot while Nevermore focused on Raven's drama and life complications. Also, I did appreciate the Edgar Allan Poe Raven quotes but there were not enough of them and Oscar Wilde was quoted a lot in the beginning of the chapters which did not make any sense to me. I do know our readers loved the first one and this one may surprise them.

We will consider adding this title to our Romance collection at the library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Thank you Netgalley for the copy of Nevermore by J.C. McKenzie to review. This is book 2 of the Raven Crawford series, and after enjoying the first book, I knew I had to continue reading about Raven and Cole! Raven is waitress, and part-time private investigator for the family business, but as a half-fae shifter her life has always been complicated but her life has been recently turned upside by discovering she is the offspring of Odin, and her recent deadly fight with Queen Lloth has brought some unexpected consquences. Two seemingly normal investigations collide, and Raven must figure out the real mystery. Raven must work to grow into her new Underworld role, and I love the action between her and Cole, and Bane shows up to keep it interesting. There is a interesting bombshell at the end too. Can’t wait for book 3!

Raven’s role as an Other grows and she must train to fulfill her requirements. There’s romance, which of course, has complications. Her ex-boyfriend continues to be a problem for her in multiple ways. I love this series and Raven is a strong but passionate character.

I'm liking the Raven Crawford series so far, but I really wish I could love it. The supernatural PI is an Urban Fantasy staple, but it's also one of my Favorite Things. And Raven seems to spend more time on PI work in this book than she did in the first one. She's working two different cases, though both involve regular humans. Parts of those cases feel ripped from the headlines as we learn more about the anti-supernatural hate groups in Raven's city.

On the Supernatural front, Raven is now Queen of the Underworld having killed the previous queen. But she's not doing any ruling, just slowly learning to use her new powers while her boyfriend Cole covers for her. I like the fact that their relationship is growing but I'm not 100% comfortable with the power imbalance. It makes Raven feel too child-like. I'm hoping that as the series continues, their relationship will become more equal.

I'm also curious about how Raven might reconcile her mostly human past with her supernatural future. I'm looking forward to learning more about the underworld and the rest of the mythology as the series progresses. And I'd like to see more of Raven's twin brother Bear.

I really enjoyed the first instalment in this series and book 2 did not disappoint. Despite some poor choices, Raven is an engaging character and the plot was fast paced and addictive. This is great urban fantasy. Lightweight, entertaining and compulsive.

Ugh. So I have totally mixed feelings on this book, just as I did for the first in this series. On the one hand I really enjoy the world and the overall story arc. However Raven is often TSTL. I was constantly rolling my eyes at her stupidity. She collapses in pain and can't,use her powers, but doesn't talk to anyone about it, even though immediately after she is with Cole. But she's too busy having sex with him. And how many times does he try to train/help her, but no, she's too busy to try and save her own life. Drove me crazy. Not,sure I'm going to read the next one. 2.5 Stars

Netgalley ARC. Second in a series, this book is just as good as the first. Strong female lead with strong male love interest. He is very protective of her but rather than smothering her, he helps her learn her powers so she can stand on her own. When is the next book?

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and hoped that the second one would be as good, and it was. Raven is a fae shifter with an interesting lineage and a variety of paranormal talents. She finds trouble, or it finds her, often but luckily she has Cole, Lord of the Shadows, to rely on when things get really bad. Of course, sometimes Cole is less than forthcoming with crucial info so that leaves Raven in the dark about her new role. Lots of humor, romance, and paranormal action makes this a great read. Looking forward to the next book in one of my favorite new series!

An enjoyable novel to the Raven Crawford series! Still more magic and mayhem, more secrets and conspiracies, more trouble and danger, and so much more! Raven gets a bombshell dropped on her and even though she has this undeniable attraction to Cole, Lord of the Shadows, he still does not tell her everything, but some of it is justifiable. Raven, her "dad", and brother Mike have a few more PI cases thrown on their plates as well. Meanwhile, Raven needs to juggle both her jobs, pay off a massive dept that she got stuck with, and learn more about her own abilities. However, something is underfoot, since there are those in the Mortal Realm whom despise those from the Underworld, shifters and fae alike. A war unlike any other is stirring, and Raven's investigations lead her to some startling revelations. Good thing she has her family and Cole beside her, for trouble always seems to find Raven. Looking forward to the next novel in the series!

What I like the most about this series are the characters. Raven, Cole, and the family are very interesting and sympatic and it's interesting to watch there relationships grow. Between Raven and Cole there binding grows more stronger. Even though not every thing goes like it should between the two.
I feel like this book is a great second story in this series there was again a great storyline about everything.
