Four college friends now approaching 40 and their families gather at a luxurious and palatial house in France for a vacation. However, a text found on a husband’s phone on the first day of the trip causes one woman to suspect he is having an affair with one of her oldest and dearest friends. With her background in criminology, she attempts to follow clues to discover who the mystery texts are from. The ending had a helluva twist, but I felt the first half or so was a little draggy and repetitive - she talks to a friend, suspects it may be her, then has lunch or goes for a swim or some vacation-y thing and pretends everything is fine. Then onto the same in the next chapter with a different friend. I skimmed until the last third of the book when it picked up with the revelations and twists.

A slow-burn of a mystery involving 4 best friends vacationing together.

I had high expectations for this one after enjoying Lies (2017) by this author. I really wanted this one to be a winner. The beginning was intriguing as one of the wives suspects her husband of having an affair with one of the "friends".

The second half involves the couples teenagers and this story line totally lost my interest. These are not the kind of people I would call friends and certainly not a dream vacation. I was frustrated with the pace and it didn't pick up until the last chapters. I was expecting more tension and thrills throughout the novel.

Four long-time female friends embark on a family centered vacation to celebrate their upcoming fortieth birthdays. One of the women suspects her husband of an affair with one of her best friends who is also on the trip.
Kate along with her husband Sean, her teenage daughter Lucy and her ten year old son Daniel are heading to a villa in the South of France to spend a week at a lavish villa. But, Kate is on high alert after Sean’s strange behavior and a series of texts found on his phone. In addition, Kate is worried about her sixteen y old daughter Lucy who seems to be harboring a secret of her own.
As the week progresses Kate becomes suspicious of all her friends for one reason or another. She seems to lack any ability to assess the situation and the stress of it causes her to make unwise decisions.
This is not a happy group of campers. Twelve individuals come together for a week of fun and not a single one of them seems happy, including the children. The tension between these so-called life-long friends is ever-present. The teenagers have some serious issues to contend with along with zero adequate parental support. The younger children are mostly ignored. The story is depressing from a number of angles.
After tragedy strikes, the truth is finally revealed as a torrent of secrets pours out. There is a surprise at the end which had me questioning how far an author will go to shock readers. Justice served is a major theme as is the burden of secrets kept from the ones we love. Finally, beware of others’ parenting style, especially when agreeing on a family vacation together.
BRB Skip It.

I wanted to like this book BUT it seemed nothing happened. I only kept reading because I kept thinking surely something will happen or be revealed. The ending even felt rushed. This book could have been so much more.

This book definitely went down some roads I did not expect it to go. Some of it’s very standard vacation “accident” thriller type stuff but in the end it transcended the tropes and still felt fresh. Definitely well worth the read. 3.5 rounded up

This is a fast paced and suspenseful book that will keep you guessing - there were lots of good twists and surprises. It is a quick read that will be a perfect vacation book. I really enjoy T.M. Logan's books and style. I received a digital ARC of this book from NetGalley.

I really enjoyed this book and it really did keep me guessing throughout with all the plot twists.
The book follows four longtime girlfriends; Izzy, Rowan, Jennifer and Kate. They have been friends since childhood and are looking to go on a "family style" vacation with their spouses and children so they can all celebrate their 40th birthdays together. Things in their lives have changed so drastically since the "good old days" so can they really enjoy each other's company like they used to, and put any past issues behind them?!
The book starts out, and is mostly told from, Kate's point of view. As she arrives to the villa with her husband and two children there is already a sense of foreboding in regards to what might happen on this vacation. Then Kate finds something on her husband's phone that threatens their whole life as a family. But things aren't always the way they appear.........
This one is definitely worth the read!

T.M. Logan does a wonderful job of introducing a rather large group gathered for a reunion vacation in France. The backdrop is beautiful, but it turns out most of these friends are hiding not-so-beautiful secrets! As is usual in life, everyone thinks the other families are without problems. The first family problem exposed, helps you discover the secrets with each family. When the murder occurs, you finally get some straight answers!

This book is a great read for any vacation.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book. I was immediately drawn into the premise of this book. Three families on one vacation, mystery ensues. Who is Kate’s husband having an affair with? What is going on with the kids? The author does a great job of making you question all of the characters (with the exception of innocent Daniel) throughout the book. They were well developed but not a particularly likable group. It was definitely a slow burn as the real information doesn’t come out until right at the end, but I found myself wanting to keep reading to get all of the answers.

This book started out with great interest. I read every night until I finished.
T.M. Logan expertly keeps your attention and intrigue even after the book is finished. I still wanted more after I had completed the book - not a cliffhanger.
Every time you think you figured out who did what and why Logan tosses you up in the air and makes you have to rethink all the details.
Masterfully written.

I couldn't wait to finish this book, and not in a good way. There was too much going on but nothing going on at the same time. It's like the author wanted to create suspense and then made up a whole bunch of information to throw you off the trail of what would be the big reveal.

I really enjoyed this book- very unexpected events. Basically 4 college girlfriends and their spouses and kids all get together for a few days. There seems to be a lot of resentment among the girlfriends. Can’t say much more without giving things away. It was well written and Not the typical book.

Thank you to St Martin's Press and Netgalley for an advanced read in exchange for this review.

Kate, her family, friends, and their families are on a luxurious vacation.  Kate then suspects her husband is having an affair with one of her friends. WHO IS IT?!

This book has good character development, however, none of the characters are particularly likable. It's hard to imagine why anyone would want to have an affair with Kate's husband.  There is a plot twist that I didn't see coming, but it took an awfully long time to get there.  You have to read through a lot to get to that point, but it was a surprise part to the story. Also, once you reach it, it is then over pretty quickly.  Overall, a decent read.

Another great book by T.M. Logan! The plot twists and character development will keep you reading until the last page. I’m very much hoping there is a sequel after reading the last few pages. Definitely recommend!
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

This reunion vacation was certainly not "a walk in the park" for 4 college friends and their families. This story revolves around friends reconnecting after many years, teenage angst, adult infidelity, and buried secrets. As you read, you keep changing your mind as to which characters are "good guys" and which are not. Suspicion falls on each of them and the truth is not revealed until the very end. Suffice it to say this will be their last vacation together!

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of T.M. Logan's books and this is no exception. I look forward to future novels.

Sooooo good! I read this book in two days! Great, rich, flawed, believable characters drive a compelling story of old friends, a group family vacation, secrets and regrets. I enjoyed the ride! Having said that, the last page keeps from giving this 5 stars. Is there a sequel coming?
