What more could you ask for in a story other than an English lady, a highland Scot and romance. The best of all the worlds. When the 2 come together in an agreement of sorts, will it end in heartbreak or forever?

Yey! I am always happy to read a book with Highlanders. Guys with accent have a certain appeal. Although I confess the Scottish dialect causes me some issues, I loved the story! As per usual, I am reviewing book 2 from the series, because I am still due for a read for the first one. But I did enjoy “Scot Under The Covers” very much.

Miranda and Aden are an amazing pair. Each looking to learn something form the other, they quickly form a bond. She wants to clean her brother’s gambling debt and avoid a forced marriage. He must learn the ways of the ton to find a proper lady to marry, or else he risks losing his fortune. It’s not about the money, but the family legacy and the many other families working on their estate. So they form an alliance.

What I mostly enjoyed is how they fall in love with their personalities. Yes, he is very attractive and finds her attractive as well. But his kindness, his strong personality and even his life experience are just a few other traits that raise Miranda’s interest. He is charmed by her intelligence, her determination and willing to take on a debt that is not hers to pay back.

There is a lot of family history shared. Even if it’s book 2, it’s not difficult to follow Aden’s background and to get familiar with his family and the reason why he has to marry to save his fortune. The author did an amazing job portraying the relationship as more than an interest from Aden’s side and this I loved a lot.

All in all, this was a very enjoyable read! I did have a difficult time with the Scottish words, but not so as to decrease my rating. I do hope you’ll give it a try

This marks the second installment in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series, immersing us in the world of Clan McTaggert. No need to fret if you missed the first book; while there are nods to prior characters and events, they won't hinder your enjoyment of this captivating read. Following the series theme, Aden, the middle brother, faces the challenge of securing a bride to rescue the ancestral home. However, given his roguish nature, penchant for gambling, drinking, and a rather extensive romantic history, he doesn't exactly scream husband material—though his allure is hard to deny. The sizzling chemistry between Aden and Miranda adds an extra layer of intrigue to this enticing tale.

Aden and his two brothers are in London under duress. Seventeen years ago their mother left Scotland with her baby daughter, leaving the boys behind. Now, she has ordered them to marry English brides before their sister marries her fiancé, or they will lose their Scottish home. Aden isn't happy about this but when his soon to be sister-in-law, Miranda, needs his help he obliges. Her brother Mathew, engaged to his sister Eloise, has a large gambling debt owed to a blackmailer. This man wants to marry Miranda for her social status so Mathew basically sells her to him. Miranda and Aden try to foil the blackmailer. Now, my worry is more for poor eighteen-year-old Eloise who is barely in the story. Her fiancé is a compulsive gambler, a man who would sell his sister to an evil man and expect her to spend the rest of her life with him. Mathew's comeuppance does not fit his crime. Why aren't Eloise's three protective older brothers enraged and concerned at the poor character of the man their little sister is marrying? Oh well, that's just me. I recommend the audio book also. It has wonderful narration by Mhairi Morrison.

Another hands down perfect highlander read.
Well written, sweet friends to lovers romance. If you have an afternoon spare pick this up you wont be disappointed.

New to me author. I love well written historical romances, and this fit the bill.
A feisty heroine, a sexy highlander - what's not to love? Throw in some arguments, the dashing highlander rescuing the heroine form a nasty fate and you have a good story to while away the time.
Now to go and read the others in the series!

Every time I pick up a Suzanne Enoch book I know that I am in for a scorching hot ride and this is no different!!
This is the second book in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series where we follow the clan McTaggert, don't worry if you haven't read the first book I don't think you need to, yes there are mentions of characters from the previous and hints of what happened, but nothing that would affect your enjoyment of this gorgeous book.
As with the previous and which follows the theme of the series, the middle brother Aden is forced to find a bride to save the ancestral home, but that is easier said than done when our boy is a bit of a rogue, a rake to the highest order, he likes a gamble a drink and more women than he can manage - not exactly husband material - even though he can throw me over his shoulder any day ;-)
the chemistry between him and Miranda is scorching the air crackles with tension and lust, like us readers she soon learns that there is more to the gorgeous Scotsman than meets ht eye - but that doesn't stop their bantering ad arguing, there really is an enemy to lovers trope there are time you would think they hate each other but the more she draws him out of himself the more that the animosity fizzles away into true love.
Suzanne Enoch is the mistress of the genre, she never gets it wrong as with the previous books this is pitch-perfect and I can't wait for the next.

It was my first time reading this author and... OH, GOD!! I'm a fan!!

Let me explain: I have a huge weakness for highlanders, especially handsome and strong highlanders, and guys... this author delivered in that department. This mountain of a gorgeous man also brought feelings and depth to his character, so that's a win in my book.

This novel is a friends-to-lovers romance where the relationship builds over time, and by the time we were coming to an end, the love was OVERWHELMING!! Let's say I was in love with their love. The plot also kept me on my toes. I love suspenseful plots, but I had no idea what was going to happen, so once I started to read this, I couldn't put it down. And that's another thing I love about a book: when you don't just read it, but live it and breathe it!

So, yeah, that was my experience with this book.

This is book 2 of the Wild Wicked Highlanders Series. Miranda is known for her wit, and ability to solve problems. When she runs across a problem that she can't solve herself, she turns to Aden to help her brother. Will he help, or will things turn on her?

This series follows the MacTaggert family. Angus, Earl of Adriss, married Lady Francesca Oswell. Together they had three sons and helped to make the Adriss lands prosper. However, Lady Adriss left Scotland after the birth of their fourth child, a daughter. Vowing never to return to Scotland, Francesca plans to raise her daughter, Eloise, as a proper English lady. She leaves behind her three sons Coll, Aden, and Niall to be raised by her stubborn Scottish husband. For seventeen years the three sons had not seen or spoken to their mother or their sister, assuming that they had been abandoned. However, when their sister Eloise announces her engagement, an old agreement is brought to light. Francesca will continue to fund Adriss as long as her three sons marry proper English women and must do so before their sister. With a deadline now in place and a community dependent on the Adriss lands, Coll, Aden, and Niall race down to London and agree to the terms set out for them with the hidden agenda of causing the most trouble for their mother as possible. However, each brother is thrown by additional unexpected circumstances and sees them helping strong women in need of their particular assistance.

The MacTaggerts are back and wilder than ever…
Suzanne Enoch returns to the world of the MacTaggert bachelors with a unique story of two people that come together for an interesting challenge and ultimately find their connection too much to resist. I stumbled across this author with her previous series and have fallen in love with her writing, with this new addition to my bookshelf being no exception to her skill. Enoch began the series with an ultimatum bringing the brothers to England to be reunited with their long-estranged mother and sister. They are all required to find English brides, before their sister marries her fiancé, or they will forfeit their home and the purse-strings that their mother holds. The youngest brother has found love despite his best intention to resist their mother’s rules, but now the other two brothers are fighting against the rules in their own way. Middle brother Aden is enjoying his time in London to the best of his ability when he is confronted with the instant dislike of Miranda Harris, his soon to be sister-in-law. Miranda dislikes Aden on principle, having heard all the stories of his prowess with both women and gambling, and now that she finds herself in a situation beyond her control caused by another gambler she hates him even more. But she will beg for his help if she must, despite that dislike, and when he reluctantly agrees they set out to thwart a blackmailing villain. As they work together the attraction becomes more than either can deny and the connection blooms into something that neither ever imagined, soon becoming a love that is impossible to refute or relinquish. Can they defeat their enemy’s plans and find a way to be together and build their future based on the love that has developed or will the lose the battle for Miranda’s freedom? Aden was an amazing character to get to know. In the beginning you think he is just another lazy bachelor that is working his way through women, drink, and gambling hells, but we slowly learn just how deep he is right alongside Miranda. His sweetness and dedication to his family and those less fortunate make him a truly great man, though I imagine in his home environment he would be an even better man. I loved seeing the way his brain worked and how he thinks 5 steps ahead of everyone around him, while at the same time he is a humble and down to earth man. He shows Miranda the sweeter and more sensual sides of his nature in the dark of the night and she slowly gives up her resistance and finds herself falling deeply in love with him. Miranda on the other hand was a little bit of a snappy and irate character to those around her, which was understandable a lot of the time because of her situation, but not all of the time. Once she sees a light at the end of the darkness thanks to Aden’s help, she loosens up and he gets to see the softer and sexier side of the sassy woman that captured his attention. The dichotomy of her truly is what I think made her such a draw to this thoughtful and complicated man, the passion between them obvious whether they were arguing, planning their encounters with the villain, or falling in love. I am dying for the last story in the series where the oldest son will find his own love and hopefully in time to meet their mother’s demand and save their fortunes, though I will be sad to see the series end. Another great read in a series that has definitely become one of my favorite historical reads in a while.

A very well written historical romance. Had everything you crave in a great historical romance. Lots of angst, and steal your breath moments.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

Miranda Harris finds herself in a dire situation. Her brother Michael, a recently reformed gambler, has a past debt that leads to blackmail. The terms state Miranda is to marry Captain Robert Vale or risk the reputation of her entire family. Against her better judgment, Miranda seeks help from Aden MacTaggert, who happens to be a gambler himself, looking for insight into the devious mind of her blackmailer.

Miranda is an intelligent female lead. She has excellent instincts and does not simply step back and hope for the man to save her. I worried her opinion on Aden's gambling pastime would cloud her judgment. She handles the situation well, using his actions to deduce his nature. I admire her for that.

Aden is a savvy, sexy, and confident Scot. He is casual when faced with Miranda's ire. Aden does not waste time attempting to sway her mind. He merely uses his knowledge to force Miranda's tormentor into making a mistake. I respected his stance on the subject. He is what he is, and one can take it or leave it.

During their mystery to solve, Miranda warms to Aden. Aden works well as Miranda's counterpart. Their ensuing courtship is delightful. I quite enjoyed the journey in Scot Under the Covers by Suzanne Enoch.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

I’ve never read a Suzanne Enoch book and this will not be my last. I was absolutely captivated by this story from start to finish. Miranda was a smart young woman, with a quick wit. I adored her! Aden was also one of the hottest highlanders I have read in 2021. He is a gambler but he was also every bit as smart as he was physically strong. I would let him protect me any day.

There are steamy scenes in this book but a lot of the truly sexy scenes are not until you are sixty percent through the book. There is a lot of tension that builds up, and a lot of plot. I think the sexy scenes were placed well and didn’t take away from the truly good story that Enoch was telling. The relationship between Aden and Miranda was built out of trust. They had to both learn to trust each other and trust in themselves.

I wasn’t aware when I started reading this book that it was the second in a series. I will definitely be going back to read the first and then the third. I cannot wait!

Its been for ever since I last read Suzanne Enoch. She is one of my favorite HR authors and when given the chance to read her again I jump on it. Every time I read an HR romance I'm always left with a bit of anger because of how women were treated and had basically no right about how their futures would turn out.

Miranda is left to deal with huge problem that her brother caused. Enters Aden and they from a plan that would benefit them both.
I absolutely loved Miranda. She was put in an impossible situation but didn't let that stop her. The transition from (sort of) friends to lovers takes (per usual) effortlessly and by the end of the book you can't help but root for our MC's that everything turns out in their favor.

As said I'm a big fan of this author and I'm so happy I got a change to read her again.

Scot Under The Covers starts off a bit slow as we learn about the MacTaggert brothers but it quickly picks up and leaves you on the edge of your seat through a series of lies, bribery, fights and romance.

The MacTaggert are rough around the edges and don’t care about what anyone thinks about them or their Scottish heritage. Life was not always easy for them – their Mother left them for English society when they were young and now they were forced to head to England by their Mother to find wives (yikes – not an easy task for brothers who refuse to be tamed nor have any fondness for English society). While they appear to be hard on the outside (not to mention that they have been rumoured to love to gamble and place bets!), I was constantly amazed by the thoughtful, compassionate, perceptive nature that shone through (I actually really enjoyed the eldest brother’s character and can’t wait to learn more about him).

Aden falls and falls hard for the beautiful Miranda. Miranda though is not too sure of him – because of her family history, any man that gambles is not a person she wants to associate with. She has seen too many people fall victim to gambling debts and lose everything. So you can imagine how their first few encounters turned out! But Miranda is soon forced to put her future in Aden’s hands when an evil character enters the plot who is threatening her and her future. But Miranda is still scared – can she truly trust Aden?

I loved the way this story turned out and it was definitely not what I was expecting at all from when I first started reading it. The characters had such great depth to them, Aden was so much more than the gambling, care free Scot that he was perceived to be. He went to great lengths to protect Miranda and he definitely ensured that the individual who was holding her at his mercy was punished and would never commit those crimes again. Miranda made me laugh so many times – she was brave, independent and did not mind saying what she felt. It is a beautiful novel, fast paced and full of intriguing characters, mystery and romance. I fell in love with the characters and read this book all in one night.
