This was surprisingly pretty well done (aside from the cheesy title) - easy-to-follow yet emotion-filled artwork, dialogue sprinkled with song lyrics, all occasionally interspersed by short essays outlining some of the more complicated or important aspects of Bob's life and character. I really enjoyed it.

More for the casual fan, rather than the hardcore fan, this book is a great overview of Bob Marley's early life, and his rise to global fame.

Told in both graphic and narrative chapters, it is an engaging easy read.

''No reader, no cry''

How could we not cry after losing such a legend? Marley changed the music world forever with his sweet reggae songs. Not only were the lyrics easy to sing along, but he believed in freedom and dedicated many performances to such causes. Unfortunately, he was an adulterer and the author (not that I blame her) couldn't help but making sure we got the point about his douchebag ways.

Do keep in mind that every chapter is drawn by a different artist. The author changes style, just like Marley changes women. Too soon?

A wonderful picture book that managed to combine autobiographical anecdotes and events with gorgeous illustrations. Highly recommended.

A wonderful short graphic biography of Bob Marley. This is meant as an introduction to Bob's life and music and not a comprehensive take. Each short chapter is drawn by a different artist and deals with a time or theme of Bob's life. This is also a great introduction to art styles and if you don't like one style it will soon switch to the next. In between chapters is a page or two expanding on the topic. The author is able to capture how the unique circumstances that led Bob to create some of the most influential and global popular music of all time.

Recommended for fans of Bob Marley, music history, Jamaica, reggae or people who rise from poverty.

'Bob Marley in Comics!' by Sophie Blitman and Gaet's with a whole bunch of artists is a graphic novel with text chapters to tell the story of Bob Marley.

I love the music of Bob Marley, but I didn't know a lot of the details of his life. He was born Nesta Robert Marley and had a tough childhood in Jamaica. With a black mother and a white father, he didn't really fit in. Living in poverty in Trenchtown, he found some lifelong friends and future bandmates. His rise to fame included living in multiple countries and having lots of children with different women. His famous albums and appearances make this book as well as a better understanding of his rastafari lifestyle.

There are almost 20 different artists featured telling different aspects of the life of Bob Marley. I liked some of the art better than others, but the segments are short, so it's not a distraction. The corresponding text chapters fill in the gaps and bridge details together. I enjoyed this look at the life of this legend.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from NBM Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Beautiful, rich, and lovely. I would gladly include this unique graphic novel in a course that looks at these books. The artistic and colorful nature of the book are highly engaging.

I was so excited to read about Bob Marley's life in comics. Each artist that contributed to this story had a different style and I was excited to add this to my 5th grade library, but the language, drug references, and vulgarity was a major turn off. Possibly acceptable in a high school classroom, I wouldn't purchase this book for my 5th graders or blog about it on my Middle Grade book account. I personally loved learning about his life and his struggles, but even for me there were parts that could have been better adapted.

For older students, this book takes a look into the life of Bob Marley, born Nesta Robert Marley and his struggles from a father who abandoned him, to a life of poverty, violence, and eventually many affairs, politics, drugs, and cancer.

This was an amazing book, probably the best graphic novel I have read. It was a biography of Bob Marley. There some short sections of text in between the chapters provided more detailed information. Each section was drawn by a different artist and I appreciated all the different styles of art. The book included professional, musical and personal information, some that was completely new to me. I haven't read many graphic novels, but I loved this one. There are other biographies done by this publisher. I recommend to check them out.
