I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Due to some personal issues it has taken me longer to get around to reading this than normal.

I was so hooked by this book that once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I literally sat and read it all in one sitting. The story was told really well, and although it got more complicated towards the end, it wasn't too difficult to follow what was happening. Great characters - even though 'Dom' was not likeable at all! Would definitely read more by Alison James in the future!

What starts with the usual rebound/whirlwind romance turns out to be quite an entertaining and gripping thriller that can be devoured in just a few short hours, so is ideal for a lazy afternoon/evening.

A great, thrilling read, which will keep you entertained throughout. A good one sitting read, get the nibbles ready, close the door, and read!

The Man She Married by Alison James is a psychological thriller that is told from two different points of view. At first the story starts with the wife then switches to the husband and finishes with the wife.

It took me awhile to get through this book. Yes there are twist and turns, more towards the end. Just in my opinion. There were not a lot of surprise factors. Most of the time I was able to predict what was going to happen. It was a good book, and I would recommend it to others, it just wasn’t my favorite

This was an enjoyable quick read.
I felt the pacing was really quick at the begging and then really slowed down.
An average read

I loved this book. How someone can write about a person who completely changes his life and make it believable is astonishing. Dominic is not who he seems and Alice is drawn in until she cannot escape easily. I have enjoyed other books by this author but I think this is one of the best ones. It would make a great film.

Interesting read. Quick paced, good characters, well written, although I did get a bit bored part way through but am glad I continued as well worth it in the end. Recommended

My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy of “ The Man She Married “ for an honest review

This was my first read from Alison James and I was very impressed.
The storyline drew me in from the start , and I found the style of writing very easy to read.
Even though the outcome of the book is never really in doubt I still found it suspenseful, and thought all the loose ends were nicely tied up by the end.
A definite recommendation from me.

I would especially like to thank Bookouture Editions and the Netgalley website for allowing me to read this book.

Reading this book makes you wonder how well you know the person you live with. Alice was dumped and she didn't think she would meet "the One" at all. Her life changed when she met Dominic, handsome, kind and charming. He asked her to marry him a few months later and to live in his house in West London. Three years later, Alice's business is going great and she loves Dominic. She is pregnant when one day the police ring her doorbell and Dominic is dead. She will have to identify the body. Except that her brother comes to see the coffin and certifies that it's not her brother Dominic. Alice refuses to accept the reality but she will have to get used to it. The man to whom she said yes to marriage was not who he claimed to be, what else did he hide?

A book read in one go, so much so that I hooked on the story, so captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters. I love the author's writing, I loved her book "The school friend". Can't wait to read the series "Detective Rachel Prince".

Alice is completely head over heels for her husband, Dominic - after heartbreak in her past she can hardly believe her luck. After three years of marriage, she discovers that she is pregnant - and that her husband Dominic is dead. Except he's not who he's claimed to be these past three years. As the story evolves we find out who he really is and how Alice plans to cope with the truth.

This was a fairly quick read that was twisty and became more sinister. I thought I knew where it was headed but I was wrong! I really enjoyed it!

Thanks to Alison James, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

3.5

Alice and Dominic get married after a whirlwind romance. Three years later Alice's whole world is turned upside down when police knocks on her door with the news that Dominic is dead. Except Dominic's brother says the man she married isn't Dominic and Alice must face the truth about the man she thought was her husband.

This is a quick domestic suspense read. I enjoyed the different perspectives of Alice and "Dominic," though it was often hard to believe that Alice couldn't see that something was seriously up with her husband sooner (so many red flags! no friends! no family! ). "Dominic's" part was especially interesting as we see things from his perspective and I love getting an inside look at messed up characters thoughts. Its a fast and enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more from the author.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture, for providing me with an ARC of this book.

Alice identifies the body, but Dominic's estranged brother insists that it is not Dominic. When confronted with proof, Alice has to face the truth that the man she married is not the person he said he was!

This was a gripping psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed it and I'm surely going to check out the other books by this author. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, Bookouture, for providing me with an ARC of this book.

3 stars - 3.5 stars actually. An interesting little tale of lies, deceptions, secret identities, and the woman taken in by all of it. It was more of a mystery than a thriller. Everything is pretty much explained by 2/3rds of the way through, and the remaining 1/3rd is spent on tying all the ends together. It was definitely twisted, complex and well thought out.
