Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Alice meets Dominic Gill and after a quick courtship, at his almost insistence, they get married. The relationship is mostly good, but occasionally there are some odd occurrences that Alice mostly sweeps under the rug. When Dominic dies in a car accident and it is time to identify the body, Alice finds out that her husband isn't the real Dominic Gill. She then sets out to find out who husband actually was.

This was a good quick read overall. It was a little predictable. We mostly knew what had gone on by 50%, and then it was just Alice uncovering the truth, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment. There was a surprise at the end that we didn't know about. I liked it overall.

This was a great suspenseful read. Told from the perspective of Alice who finally meets the man of her dreams, who of course, turns into the man of her nightmares. We learn the past and present from Alice and the reader seems to be one step ahead of poor Alice. Suddenly, we switch to Dom's perspective and hear the story from the husband. That was a bold step. Usually we don’t hear from the bad boy. I haven’t read this author before so I will certainly read another of her novels. Held my attention all the way through..

Alice meets Dominic while pitching for a contract for her catering company at the office where he works,he sweeps Alice off her feet and they are soon married despite her best friend Jojo' s misgivings. But then doubts start to creep into Alice's mind about her new husband and just how much does she know about him ? The story is told in the present and past from the point of view of both Alice and Dominic and wow what a great story it is,filled with twists and turns all throughout the book it really is a page turner and with out going into anymore detail this is a great read and if you enjoy this genre then this is the book for you.A stunning 5 star read from Alison James and a great book to finish my reading year.

Unfortunately I left it until 9.30 pm to start this book , hence I was still awake at 1am . I literally could not put it down . Alice is waiting at home with good news for her husband , the knock on the door unfortunately is the police telling her , her husband is dead . This is made all the more complicated by her husbands brother telling her that her husband the dead man is not Dominic Gill . We get the backstory of when Alice met Dom and their whirlwind relationship , we also unfortunately get the story from Dominic which at times is very unpleasant .
This made for a great roller coaster of a read , that i almost finished in one sitting . Fast paced and entertaining a great 5 stars from me

This was a gripping, fast paced thriller. I liked that it was told in three parts - the wife, the husband & the aftermath. There's so many red flags in Alice's story and Dominic's is disturbing - I couldn't believe the secrets he had. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.

This book has a very interesting premise but you know immediately the essence of the story. That Alice marries a man but as time goes by she begins to doubt this man. He goes by the name of Dominic Gill. But when the police tell her her husband has been killed in an automobile accident and she goes to identify his body, the brother that she never got to meet is there and claims that this dead man is not his brother. So basically after that point we see Alice come out of denial and try to find out who is this man she actually married. The things she finds out are mind boggling. It is a very sad story. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but there is another twist at the end of the book. It was a well written book but really more of a mystery in finding out his true identity, I received this book from net galley as an ARC for an honest review. Thank you net galley for this ARC.

I’ve read other books by this author and enjoyed them, so was keen to read this. Told in 3 parts, the story is told mainly from Alice and Dominic’s perspectives, both in present day and past. Alice marries Dominic after a whirlwind romance, but it obviously felt like the right thing to do. When a tragedy befalls Alice a few years later, she realises that she didn’t really know her husband at all…

I was hooked into this story from the very first chapter. In present day we can guess that the knock on Alice’s door is going to bring her bad news, but both Alice and us readers obviously have no idea how bad things are going to get! I liked Alice’s character even though she did seem to be a little bit naïve and blinkered towards her husband. To be fair though, you can’t really blame her – why should she have had any reason not to trust him.

As the story carries on we can see how the story is panning out, even though poor old Alice can’t! In a strange way, I loved Dominic’s side to the story and sat there, mouth and eyes open wide, while his story unfolded. I thought all the secrets had come tumbling out already, but NO!!...the story just kept going!!

I did enjoy the Long QT Syndrome aspect of the storyline. LQTS is a rare electrical problem with the heart…and I have it!! It’s not often you hear it mentioned, let alone written about, and not many people know about or understand it, so thank you to the author for raising awareness of this condition.

This was a great, gripping, fast-paced story which will definitely keep you hooked until the last page. I did wonder if everything was really as easy as Dominic seemed to make it, but who cares!! Dominic was a fantastic ‘baddie’ and you really didn’t want to be on the wrong side of him as it was obvious he would stop at nothing! The whole story was a full-on drama-come-thriller that teaches you not to take everyone at face value as they might not be the person you think they are! Highly recommended!!

Alice Palmer has a beautiful home in an upscale neighborhood, her own catering business and no money worries. Alice meets a handsome successful man who, within a very short time, has moved into her home and has persuaded her to marry him. Alice is very naive and much too trusting so she fails to see all the red flags that keep popping up which makes this a book you can't put down. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this very exciting page-turner in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a really good psychological thriller.

This was an exciting, quick thriller that I couldn’t put down! I love the way the author told the story from different perspectives and times. My only complaint is that the author gave a ton of details about halfway through so the ending wasn’t as shocking as I would have liked. Still, I loved this book and will recommend it to everyone!

I really appreciated the dual POV of this tale. Through Dominic's voice, the reader was allowed an intimate understanding of Dominic's motives and of this couple's unique marriage.

Closer to a drama than a thriller, throughout this story I became frustrated with Alice, finding that I could not leap over that hurdle of incredulity as to Alice's weak behavior. Why did she continue to be so obtuse after being slapped senseless as her husband threw off one red flag after another? As far as psychotic sociopaths are concerned, Dominic was in a class all by himself. Alice, you had money—lots of money. Girl, go buy yourself a clue!

Overall, I would have preferred that Dominic and his background were more of an enigma in this tale, however, his characterization was deftly drawn. Very good story. I will seek out more titles from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Alison James for an ARC of 'The Man She Married' in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

This is another new author that I've never read but I'm extremely glad I did. This book was a fantastic thriller that will have you at the edge of your seat.
Even from the first chapter of this book I knew straight from the of that I was going to enjoy reading it. This book is extremely well written, it's a spine tingling good thriller.
Alice thought that she had it all, she thought that her life together with her husband Dominic was all she'd ever dreamed about. They met, soon after that Dominic proposed, and sooner still they got married. However Dominic her husband is not the man she thought that he was.
All of a sudden Alices life comes crashing down when the police come knocking on her door and tell her that her husband Dominic is dead, or is he??
She finds out he isn't the man she thought she knew or thought he was.
This book leaves you desperately wanting to find out what happens next and why Alices life has blew up like this. This book is told from Alice and Dominics POV and flits between now and then.
This book I feel holds your attention completely and keeps you guessing and wondering the whole time.
The characters are great, even though Dominics a jerk, the author brought them to life fantastically.
I couldn't put this book down it's packed full of twists, turn's, shocks and gobsmackers.
This book should be made into a movie it was awesome.
This book and the author fully deserves all 5 stars if I could give more I would.
I will definitely look out for this author in the future.
Thank you netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read and early copy of this book.
Thank you

Wow, this had me hooked from the outset.

Such an intriguing storyline, I’d no idea how this was going to finish. In fact I felt somewhat bereft when it did finish.

Thoroughly enjoyed this & can’t wait to read Alison James next offering.

4.5 stars

A definite contender for my favourite read of the year. ‘The Man She Married’ is a rarity in that it is equally gripping throughout the book - no weak ending here and unusually for me, at no point was I tempted to skim to the end, indeed I’m now rather disappointed that it’s over!

This is the story of vulnerable Alice, a woman who is bowled over by the utterly charismatic Dom. The first part of the story comes from her perspective, and charts the tale of their meeting, marriage and untimely demise. Narrative then switched to Dom, and so many of his dark secrets are exposed through this narrative that I would have been satisfied had the book ended at this midway point. Author, Alison James, shows her undisputed talent by taking the story further (both figuratively and geographically) however and with great character development and a thrilling pace she really does it in style.

Looking forward to reading up on Alison James back catalogue if this is anything to go by.

My unreserved thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for an advance copy of ‘The Man She Married’ in exchange for an honest review.

So, I really enjoyed this book, it was really easy to get into and I would've given this book five stars... If I hadn't just read Nicola Moriarty's The Ex last week.

There were a lot of similarities in this book from the Chinese takeaway being poisoned by the supposedly perfect fiance/husband to make their other half sick, to hidden identities to intelligent women who are somehow hoodwinked by charismatic men. To Australia being an important location in the plot.

There where some differences, Alice the lady who had fallen for Dominic and subsequently marries a man she knows nothing about, she enlists the help of a private investigator to help her discover the truth about Dominic after he is killed in a car crash and the man she thought was Dominic turns not to be.

I did really enjoy this book, but found when I think back to it, the plot blurs with the other book.

Thanks to net galley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion.

Do you truly know the person you married? Everyone has secrets. Those secrets can draw you close together or they can push you further apart. This book was amazing. Thank you NetGalley for this gem.
