Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

With its combination of self-help, biography and spirituality, this is an interesting book and one worth dipping into. The basic premise is a series of quotes and answers by various well-known individuals about some of the big life questions such as do you believe in God and who do you most admire. Although I read the book initially because I was interested in forming my own opinions of these questions, I actually found the main appeal of the book was the range of individuals included and how their life experiences resulted in widely varying perspectives. Suffice to say that the Dalai Lama's thoughts on the divine were vastly different to Richard Dawkins. It is also ideal for dipping in and out, making it a book likely to be reread over time.

The idea of the book is brilliant: Ask well-known people from all areas of life - alive and passed since starting the book - questions from God, to karma, morals, destiny and peace.
Zoe Sallis chose ten questions and spent years interviewing and putting together the answers she received from musicians, politicians, writers, the Dalai Lama, journalists, directors and filmmakers.
While the idea is interesting and the questions well chosen, I didn't know a lot of the contributors, making their answers as good as anyone's. And while there is a variety of personalities included to allow everyone to know a few, maybe selecting less and therefore better known people would have been helpful.
A short biography of each contributor is at the end of the book, but I would have preferred to know about those unknown to me at the beginning, to be able to place their statements better.
Overall however, you can jump to the testimonies you are interested in.

I was fascinated by this book! Imagine getting some of the brightest and most influential minds in the world together in one place and asking them the biggest questions we all ask ourselves... Is there a God? What happens after we die? How do we achieve inner peace? What is the most important thing we can know?

40 people... across faiths and non-faith (Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Athiest, etc), world leaders, artists of all types, humanitarians and scientists... all asked the same 10 questions... What has Life taught you? Some answers surprised me, some answers impressed me. Some I dismissed, some resounded with me. All were fascinating. Definitely recommend!

My thanks to the author and publisher, who allowed me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. #NetGalley #WhatHasLifeTaughtYou

This is a wonderful collection. The author asks people from the Dali Lama, Paul Coelho, to Richard Dawkins 10 questions about the more spititual aspects of life. These questions range from "Do you think this life is all there is?" To "What has life taught you so far?". This is an absolutly wondrrful book. I liked reading everyone's thoughts on these subjects. I also liked that the answers came from a wide range of people with a wide range of religious and spiritual beliefs. I would definitely recommend this book and will be purchasing it for friends and family as well as a hard copy for myself.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

If ever there was a celebrity magazine filled with deep thoughts instead of gossip, this would be it.
Interviews with Paulo Coelho, Bono, Jools Holland, Shimon Peres, Jilly Cooper, Nelson Mandela, Jack Nicholson, David Frost, Anjelica Huston, Sophia Loren, Steve Vai, Sharon Stone and many more, covering ten fundamental philosophical and ethical questions.
Subjects are God, afterlife, karma, morality, destiny, life lessons, words of wisdom, survival, admiration and peace within.
Interesting questions and a good variety of well known personalities. Some give short answers, others tell great stories. Some I found quite shallow, others surprised me with their wisdom. Never a dull moment in this book.

Thank you Netgalley and Watkins for the ARC.
