Embroidery has picked up popularity so much in the past 2 years. Our library is looking to update its collection to offer more books on the types of embroidery that has come into style. I love, love, love this book. The embroidered flowers are beautiful and I know just the type of thing my patrons are looking for. This book is easy to follow, beautifully laid out and designs are charming and eye catching.

Thank you NetGalley and Roost Books for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of this book.

This pattern book of delicately embroidered wild flowers by Kazuko Aoki
was beautifully done. It was simple enough for a beginner but challenging enough for an experienced needle crafter. The colorful photos were bright and clear. They included not only wildflowers but also: bugs, butterflies and birds. They were organized in the book by seasons.

Instructions were clearly given for embroidery stitches used in the book. Descriptions of materials like floss, needles, and linen were also included. Line drawings of each pattern make it easy to trace and copy the wildflower pictures.

Embroiderers would benefit from having this slim book on their reference library shelf.

The illustrations in this book are gorgeous. Like jaw dropping that looks like the real thing gorgeous. There is real artistry in the design, and a natural feel given to each image. Unfortunately, the gorgeousness depicted makes this book feel incredibly aspirational and out of the skill range of beginners. The stitches are broken down and the guide shows which stitches are needed and where, but it is incredibly brief. Tips and tricks are given by the author, and were I stronger in this skill like I am with knitting, I feel like they would be succinct enough to just read once and follow while keeping them in mind. Since I'm also trying to learn some of the stitches as well as keep the tips in mind, I feel like a newcomer might need some more support. If you are a confident stitcher, then grab this book and make some amazing images for yourself. If you are just starting out, maybe look at what you can do and come back to this when you feel more confident. It will be worth the wait if you love nature scenery.

I love Kazuko Aoki's work! The embroidered flowers in her latest book are beautiful to look at and accessible to stitchers of many skill levels. The patterns are realistic, yet whimsical. I love their deceptive simplicity. I will, as usual, purchase a copy for myself, as well as for my library.

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a fair review.

Nice little book with a lot of illustrations and explanations on how to embroidery plants, raindrops, bugs, and other things. It is definitely more advance than what I am capable of at this time, so keep it in mind that this is not for beginners but rather advanced embroiders.

I received an e-book copy of this publication, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Embroidered Wild Flowers by Kazuko Aoki is a beautiful book that is really art itself! In this book Aoki first takes you along on nature walks showing you beautiful life like pictures of embroidered items that were seen in nature I actually read through the first half of this book with my 5 year old daughter marveling at the pictures as we read Aoki's words. I found this book to be very educational as each item was named and my daughter and I learned many new flowers, trees, birds and moss that we had never seen before. The second half of the book is dedicated to teaching you how to recreate the embroidery. This book talks about embroidery floss and thread, the importance in picking the right needle, fabric, patterns and frames. There are many tips and tricks listed in this book. The book then goes on to show you how to make many different stitches. Giving you a visual guide as well as listing step by step how to make the stitch. Each page has diagrams showing you each stitch to make and what materials are needed to make each item. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in embroidery. This would make a lovely gift..

This book is a work of art that teaches you how to make art!

The first part of the book features beautiful, full-color, photographs of the completed patterns. These alone are an artistic experience. Detailed botanical illustrations are created out of thread and each picture reveals little surprises along the way (a tiny pill bug! a clever owl!)

The following section introduces the reader to the supplies and techniques of embroidery. The clearly drawn, and well annotated, images demonstrate all the stitches you will need to create your own little gardens and forests.

The patterns themselves are clearly rendered for transfer, and the directions for each section are well labeled. You always have the pictures for reference, making this a good book for all skill levels. Beginners will have all the tools they need to dive right into embroidery.

This book will appeal not only to the embroiderers among us, but nature lovers as well. I can’t wait to try my hand at some mushrooms!

Embroidered Wildflowers by Kazuko Aoki is now one of my favorite embroidery books. I absolutely love the delicate designs, and the great thing is you don’t need to buy like 30 strands of DMC to create one of the master pieces, as you often see in other books featuring the same design style. Kazuko keeps it simple. The result is very balanced and delicate, and all the pieces are lovely! I can’t wait to try one out, I think it’s perfect for beginners, too. There are many different flowers, grasses and some trees, and it’s described what they are exactly. Most designs have a little adorable twist in them, like an ant walking through the flowers with his treasure and a bird on a line in above a field of grasses. Besides flowers, there are butterflies, insects, birds and trees present, too. The cover is really resembling the style, so if you love the cover, you’re going to love this book definitely! In the back is an explanation for beginners with stitch guide with helpful tips, and the patterns are very clear with indications which stitch should be used where and what color. The patterns also don’t need to be enlarged (in the physical copy), which is very handy fot those of you that have a problematic relationship with a printer *raises hand*.

Part nature guide, part embroidery idea book. The first part of the book is photographs of the amazing embroidery work by the author, inspired by nature, including flowers, trees, and even birds. The second part of the book shows how she created these works of art, making it downright doable. Ultimate beginners might be overwhelmed, but this is actually a great guide for any skill level to make beautiful projects. I can't wait to get started!
I received an advanced digital reader's copy of this book.
