A great thriller. Lizzie’s marriage is struggling, when she gets a call from an old friend who has been accused of murdering his wife. Lizzie reluctantly decides to defend her old friend. She is taken down a twisting road in the life of the murdered woman and her friends. As she uncovers information about the murder, she also questions her marriage and where it is going. A great murder mystery that will leave the reader stunned at the conclusion.

I flew through Kimberly McCreight’s new book and loved it. The story has two points of view, a lawyer handling a murder case in present time and the victim dealing with her past and present issues up to the moment of the crime. The action moves from either end of the time frame to reveal what really happened and, although a little confusing at times, it works. I thought I had the answers figured out several times during the story only to be proven wrong. This is a great domestic thriller that will keep you turning the pages until all of the answers are revealed.

Have you ever read a book that you enjoyed so much that you wished you hadn’t read it so you could read it again? A Good Marriage was the best book I’ve read this year so far. When a friend from Lizzie’s past calls to ask her to represent him in his wife’s murder trial her first instinct is to say no. A series of events leads her to represent him anyway. A true page turner. I read hundreds of books a year and there is very rarely a book that surprises me at the end. This one did. I highly recommend A Good Marriage.

Wow! Zach's wife ends up murdered; he finds the body. He turns to Lizzie, ex-classmate, for her law expertise after he wins up imprisoned. Exciting to the end! A bit of a twisty roller coaster.

I know we’ve all been struggling with reading lately and while I’ve been lucky enough to still be able to focus on reading, I’ve been struggling to write reviews for the past few days. Anyone else having the same problem?

All of that to say, I loved this book and can’t really find the words to tell you why. I’ll try though because it really was excellent and you should all grab it when it’s out next month. Domestic suspense has been pretty disappointing for me lately and it was so great to find one that was a winner. It’s smart and sharp and kept me guessing the whole time. That’s all I’ve got, just read the book, ok?

"A Good Marriage" is a suspense-filled mystery written by Kimberly McCreight. This novel centers around the murder of Amanda and her husband, Zach, who has been charged with her murder. Was Zach the killer? If not, is he really a good guy? I was quickly sucked into this book and it was enjoyable to read! Unfortunately, I didn't really feel a connection with any of the characters which is why I gave this book 3 stars regardless of the good writing.

A Good Marriage is what we might get if Lisa Scottoline and Jennifer Hillier did a collab. The criminal law aspect wasn't as interesting to me, but I loved how Lizzie sniffed out the clues and figured out the mystery. There was a creepy thriller vibe with the Amanda-Being-Stalked thing. There's something about seeing the downfall of elitists, too. Overall, I was super absorbed in this book and really wanted to find out how it ended.

Oooohh this was good! I ignored my responsibilities all day today so I could finish. A little twisty but not eye-rolling over the top twists like I’m seeing a lot of these days.

A Good Marriage was an excellent novel. I was extremely invested in it the whole way through. I very much enjoyed Ms. McCreight's writing, however that was no surprise to me. I really enjoyed her previous two novels, Reconstructing Amelia and Where They Found Her.

This novel tells the story of a marriage gone wrong. There is a brutal murder and of course.. who ends up being the suspect? The Husband. Did he do it? Is it true? Find out when you read this thrilling book!

The characters in this book were all very interesting and unique, particularly Lizzie. She was brought in by Zach, Amanda's husband, to help clear his name.

This is my fifth Kimberley McCreight novel and I liked the four I read.
My favorites were both “Reconstructing Amelia” and ”Where they Found Her”.

Story alternates between the POV of Lizzie, Amanda, the Grand Jury Testimony as well as Confidential Memorandum.
Story starts out with Amanda, a young wife living in upscale Park Slope returns home early from the neighborhood’s annual “Sleepaway Soiree”. This annual party takes place while the young children are a hundreds of miles away at summer camp. Their parents have a “Sex party” yep these married couples just might have sex with people who are not their spouses…. (Other neighbors attend just so they are in the know as to who the couples are going upstairs.)

Anyway when Zach, Amanda’s husband returns home from the party, he finds Amanda has been murdered.
Of course, Zach is accused of murdering her …isn’t it always the husband?

Story kept me turning pages. I expected twists and turns but I was complete off base in figuring out this one.
I honestly cannot say that I liked this novel. I really enjoyed the other McCreight novels I read so have to admit I was disappointed in this one ~ Way too many f-bombs for me and the nasty characters were so unlikeable they certainly deserved one another. I know I am a dinosaur but I don’t like profanity however; there is no doubt these nasty characters would use this nasty language.

While I really enjoyed the ending to this book, it did take me a while to get invested due to the large number of characters and somewhat slow moving pace. It was however, a satisfying ending that made me enjoy the book overall.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed Kimberly McCreight's previous novels, I was dying to get my hands on her upcoming release, A Good Marriage, even though I've become a bit jaded when it comes to domestic suspense. The gamble paid off, as the author has woven quite the web of deceit and inserted many twists and turns with her particular brand of sleight of hand. Please don't let the 400 page count turn you off from picking this one up; while I did feel a few things could have been edited out, overall this is a fast paced read that doesn't save all the AHA! moments for the climax. In short, if you're looking for a suspense novel with substance and depth, and are hoping to stave off the self-isolation boredom, I can't imagine a better way to do so than with A Good Marriage.

This is a good book. I think we all take looks at her marriage and wonder if we’re doing ok. Are the friendships we have authentic or should we be looking at them, this really makes you want to look and see how relationships in your own life are doing. This book was riveting and fast-paced. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will I would love to read more

It was good, but not great. So many characters, so many points of view, so many things happening in the storyline to try to keep up with......and now so many questions! Even after we truly find out what happened to Amanda I am still still left with several questions about her, her marriage, her past, but mostly her mental stability. Also, so many unhappy people on their marriages, some truly married to some awful humans.....but I guess that’s where the title comes from!

I really liked this book! From the beginning, it grabbed my attention. I loved the characters and how they developed. The plot had great detail that kept me interested but wasn't overwhelming. I did not see the ending coming, and was surprised and loved it!

Wow, wow, wow, my first Kimberly McCreight book, but not my last! This was such a beautifully written and absolutely engaging book! It was unputdownable, chilling, thrilling, and shocking! I thought that the way she wrote, was very compelling and honest, which makes me love it even more, because while I felt it was original even though lies and secrets in marriages are not new, I also thought this could actually happen in real life! I hate when disbelieve has to be completely suspended outside of reality to make a book possible, which is not the case in this book! Preorder today, a must read for those who love twisted marriage psychological thrillers, with some it’s always the hubby too!
Will make sure I buzz this book up on the different platforms!

I loved Reconstructing Amelia, and couldn't wait to dive into this one. I was not disappointed! I started this one before bedtime, and it was finished by the following afternoon!

This was intense, fast moving, twisty, full of surprises and suspense. This is definitely a must read for 2020 for mystery and plot twist fans!
