Wow, I never saw that coming!

Piper Reynard has moved to Westport, Connecticut to start over. She is a gorgeous thirtysomething year old with a counseling degree. She sets down roots by purchasing space and opening a holistic rehab and wellness space and joins the local yacht club. She vows to wait awhile before starting another relationship, until she meets Leo Drakos. Leo is a handsome and successful lawyer, if only he wasn’t wearing a wedding ring, but Piper knows marriage isn’t permanent.

Joanna has been waiting for Leo to move out of his depression and start focusing on her and the kids for quite some time. When Leo comes home one day and seems happier and more energetic, Joanna is excited he is back to his old charming self. It doesn’t take long for Joanna to realize it isn’t her that made him happy again but a woman named Piper. Joanna is devastated, how could Leo just leave her behind for a new age new comer that has a questionable past. Joanna is determined to find the truth out about Piper and confront Leo but he doesn’t want to hear it and now she can’t even see the kids. The more she digs the more she uncovers. She tries to tell her therapist but she isn’t being helpful either. Joanna is concerned that Leo and the kids’ lives are in jeopardy but the therapist just thinks she is being paranoid.

The book started out a little slow as the plot gets moving but quickly moves to a can’t-put-it-down situation. The story is told from alternating points view: Piper’s and Joanna’s. Just when I thought I had it figured out the author drops not one by two major bomb shells that left me speechless and re-reading trying to figure out how I didn’t see that coming. This story was spectacular, the best thriller Liv Constantine has written thus far. I highly recommend!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC for my honest review.

I almost didn't finish this book because it started out so slow and boring. I also found the writing very mundane and lacking any depth, and all the characters were horrible. I did continue because I knew there had to be SOMETHING there to save it. And, yes, the twist at the end just barely did save the book. It was unexpected and brought everything together. Not my favorite book, though.

Anything I can say would be considered spoilers - this is a true suspense read! You're reading along - so sure you know what is happening and boom - you shift to think something else - and boom you're wrong on both counts!! Nice to read a thriller that keeps you on that roller coaster - will look for more by this author.

The book centers around two women: Piper, a beautiful young woman who moved to Westport Connecticut to get a fresh start. And Joanna, a woman whose husband and children are her entire life. Both Piper and Joanna have one thing in common: they are attracted to the same man, Leo Drakos.
The chapters alternate between Piper and Joanna. The first half reads like a typical thriller... slow at first then starts to pick up. The second half of the book was amazing! I definitely did not see the 2 major twists coming.
The timeline skipped a bit, several things were not explained until the very end, but overall it was a quick read and kept me interested. If you like twists, check this one out!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC.

Joanna has given EVERYTHING to her husband- perfect children, a perfect house, an amazing country house to escape his demanding law career, and has never expected anything in return but his happiness. She even gave up her dream of becoming a lawyer to support him. So when Piper Reynard breezes into town and steals him from right under her nose, Joanna is determined to bring her down.
I read this book in one day. I could not put it down. Piper is full of secrets you think you know, but turns out, you don't. Truly an amazing read! I loved it.

I really liked this book until the end... and then I LOVED it. It’s rare that a twist catches me completely off-guard, yet still makes so much sense. This is a must read (and would be fantastic for book clubs)!

I simply couldn’t get myself involved in this book with any of the unlikely twists and turns that should involve the reader. I found the protagonists difficult to like or relate to. The situations were too contrived and the ending too simplistic.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

Liv Constantine is on my list of must read authors, so I was very excited when I saw this new title. It did not disappoint! I did think there were some plot holes while I was reading it, but those were resolved by the end of the book with a plot twist I did not see coming. A fast paced treat for those who like domestic suspense!

I read the authors other 2 books and they were ok. I enjoyed them but they didn’t feel special to me. This, on the other hand, was OUTSTANDING! I finished this in one day - and wished I had read it even quicker. I loved this. I loved the reveal and the tension the author built. I loved the characters and their relationships. I had no clue what was going to happen. And I loved it all!!!!!!! I’d highly recommend this to anyone who loves thrillers. It’s a must read.

I was all set to nominate this book as the worst book I’ve read all year. The writing is amateurish. The story had all sorts of weird jumps- people knew things without being told, important conversations were mentioned in passing instead of being written, huge life events were glossed over in a few pages, everyone is vapid and annoying. Meanwhile we got lots and lots of descriptions of every single meal the characters ate. And the names of the restaurants they ate them at. And the brand names of their clothes. HOWEVER, this book was totally saved by the twist. The twist was interesting, and cleared up a lot of the inconsistencies that bothered me throughout the book. It’s really too bad the twist comes in the last 40 pages or so, because it was a heck of a slog to get there. Great for readers who are in it for the twist.

Joanna is happy her husband Leo is coming out of his depression at long last and she would do anything to make him and the children happy. But just when she thinks everything will be okay, Leo falls for another woman, Piper and intends to marry her. He kicks Joanna out of the house giving her a fair cash settlement but soon stops her from seeing their children with a restraining order. When married, Piper is resentful of the way Leo always puts his children first, and as this is her third marriage she wants everything to be perfect this time around.
A fast paced page turner with wonderful twists, once I started I did nothing but read until the end. I highly recommend.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. These are my opinions.

Just when I thought I had it all figured out a twist was thrown in that changed everything and had me rethinking everything I had thought to that point. This appears to be a story of a marriage broken up by a widow who preys on married men and the mother trying to protect her children from the new woman in her husband's life, but is it? Told by 2 unreliable narrators, Piper the widow and Joanna, the mother, this story leaves you asking what really happened and what is the real story.

Liv Constantine is becoming one of my favorite authors! This was a quick read for me, with alternating voices for each chapter. I totally didn't see the twist at the end coming. Good one! Thank you for the advanced copy. I will definitely be recommending this book!

Joanna has been a good wife and mother and all she wants is for her husband, Leo, to come out of the funk he has sunken into. When he suddenly begins to pay more attention to her and their children, she’s thrilled. But then she learns that Leo has got a renewed interest in life because he has fallen for another woman. Piper is the owner of a wellness club, and it would appear that Leo is head over heels in love with her. Leo tells Joanna that he will be leaving, but that she can still see their children. Destroyed, angry and determined to get revenge, Joanna begins to dig into Piper’s past, looking for anything that will bring Piper down. What she uncovers has her fearing for her children’s’ lives, but will anyone believe her, or will they dismiss her fears as the ramblings of a betrayed woman. Nothing hurts like finding out your husband is cheating, but finding out he’s hooked up with a psycho? That’s next level stuff
