I loved reading this book during quarantine. It’s so hard to cook 3 meals a day for my tiny humans but this book was inspiring in a way with the main characters connection to food and the people who create and eat it. If you are on a cooking or reading slump read this!

I'm a sucker for food-related romance stories and this one was wonderful! The story was really cute and fun to read, but what made this book so great for me was the vivid descriptions of the food. The magical twists also made this read a unique and interesting one. This book was very charming.

Fast and fun read! What’s better than cooking and romance! This fast pace book had such a fun storyline and exciting food dishes! I was so thankful to receive this arc.

Mini Review: All the food descriptions in this book made me really hungry! And the main character, Lumi, being able to tell a persons emotions by eating the food they cooked was pretty neat. I enjoyed reading this Adult Romance book, and I would definitely recommend trying it!

There were elements that I loved about A Taste of Sage that I really liked and there were other elements that I didn’t like. First off, I loved that Lumi could taste a person’s emotions through their cooking. That was a characteristic that I have never heard of before in any of the books that I have read, so I just really found it fascinating. The recipes all sounded amazing. The characters were also well developed. Now, for the things I didn’t like as much. Julien started off so arrogant and he kicked a customer out of his restaurant for wanting ketchup. I get that was his restaurant, but come on. I will be honest, though, as we get into the story, Julien got less arrogant and I started to like him. Lumi was so hard headed at times that I just wanted to tell her to stop it! But, then, I started to really like her, too. Overall, I really enjoyed this romance and will definitely read more by this author. Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

This personally was not for me. I found the characters to be annoying and the overall plot to not make much sense. I wish the magical realism aspect was included in a more cohesive way instead of just being peppered in whenever convenient. However, I still think my Library would purchase this book because of the subject matter and needing to grow our romance collection.

This book wasn't quite what I wanted it to be. The power dynamics in the primary relationship made me acutely uncomfortable, and at the same time they lacked the chemistry I would hope for in a romance. The redeeming quality was the foodie details: I LOVED reading about all the great food made and the dishes enjoyed in restaurants in this story.

I enjoyed this book and it kept me engaged, but the magical realism aspect felt jarring to me in the midst of otherwise realistic scenarios.

I sadly was not a fan of this novel. The characters did not work for me and neither did the plot. I see potential with this author and would consider reading something else by them, but this one just did not work for me.

This took me a bit to get through. I'm not sure if it was just timing (anyone who reads will admit that sometimes even a good book doesn't work for them sometimes), or if it just wasn't for me.

The characters felt a bit detached, and the story fairly predictable. I liked the overall idea of both, but feel the execution fell a bit flat.

Fun easy to read romance. I enjoyed the chefs and their love story. It was a bit hard to get into , but once i did i couldn't put it down.

Thanks NetGalley for the preview!

I liked this book a bunch! It was a quick read with a little love and intrigue. Lumi is a strong character who survives losing her business and finds a new opportunity and a partner. Julien is complicated and interesting and constantly keeps you guessing. I loved their witty banter. The tasting feelings felt a little magical but it was written without taking away from the story. I was pleased to see a happy ending!

What is it about rom-com books involving cooking that makes them so good? Probably the fact that they combine my two favorite favorite things: cooking and a good book. A Taste of Sage delivers on both counts: the descriptions of food are mouth watering and the romantic plot line goes a different (but pleasant) direction from what I expected. I picked this book up expecting to read a little bit before going to bed one night and ended up reading almost the entire book in one sitting. I didn’t want to leave these characters behind and I hope Santos finds a way to incorporate them into her next book (along with more food descriptions please!).

A Taste if Sage is a romance about two chefs who fall in love. When Lumi’s restaurant closes, she becomes the sous-chef to Julien in his traditional French restaurant. I liked this, it wasn’t great. just wasn’t crazy about it. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley for a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I was really excited to read this because I love books centered around food (give me all the recipe inspo!!) and this book started out strong. However, the recipes ended up being the star of the book and that's why I kept reading. I did also enjoy the dual perspective and seeing it from both characters.

Unfortunately, the romance fell flat for me and I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters. Overall, 3/5 stars.

4/5 stars
A Taste of Sage is a fun, quick, steamy romance, if a little cheesy and insta-lovey at times. The restaurant kitchen setting was really fun to read and I loved that Lumi’s recipes are included at the end of each chapter. This book definitely went somewhere I was not expecting, and it helped keep the plot interesting. To say the least, I will definitely be reading more chef-romances in the future.

That this book is written by a Dominican-American author and had a Dominican woman as the main character immediately grabbed my attention. I love romance and was all set to love this book, which centers around a young woman who loses her restaurant and goes to work for a difficult chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

I am Dominican and really loved the connection to food and family that was woven into the book. I also loved the elements of magical realism and the romance between two skilled chefs. However, I feel like the editor did not do this book justice. There were a few moments when I was reading that did not make sense and I had to go back and re-read to see if I had missed a detail, and when I re-read the information was just missing. I really, really wanted to love this book, and I think that with a better editor this book could have gone from okay to great. I am disappointed that it was not given the attention that it deserves.

There is so much to love about this book. As a diehard fan of 'Top Chef', I have found myself craving some good kitchen-related love stories, and 'A Taste of Sage' was exactly what I was looking for.

A solid and surprising tale, 'A Taste of Sage' delivered everything I hoped it would with a little something extra. Ever since I saw 'Like Water for Chocolate' in film class in college, I've loved the idea of there being a little bit of magic involved in some people's approach to cooking and food, and 'A Taste of Sage' reminded me of just how wonderful my experience with that film was.

I look forward to seeing what Yaffa S. Santos does next, because this was a wonderful story with a great love story at its center. I can't wait to see what's next!

This is the perfect book you have been looking for to sate the foodie in you, but with just enough amount of spice to make it the perfect romance.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title.

This was a little weird and I just couldn’t quite get into it.
