This is a well-written, touching story that completely held my interest all through the book. Shannon and Carter come from completely opposite families. Shannon’s family is very nurturing and supporting, so much so that Shannon’s brothers go almost to the extreme to protect her. Carter’s family life was abusive and he’s estranged from his dad and sister. It seems almost impossible that the two of them can find common ground, but they find they are attracted to each other and help support each other. But things do not go smoothly for either of them, and both find that it’s faith that will ground them and help them claim self esteem and confidence.

I liked the setting on the ranch and the help that the ranch extended to foster children. Everything is portrayed in a completely appropriate manner in this story, but if spousal/parent/partner abuse is a trigger for you, there might be parts of this story that would be hard for you to read. That being said, I think this book could be a help and encouragement to anyone who is struggling with self worth. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Shannon is on a mission to do more at the ranch and stop her brothers from coddling her. Yea, she has a issue in the past and shes trying to get past it but that hard when everyone keeps trying to protect her and barely giving her a role at the ranch. After his past its made him somewhat of a wanderer and hes helping out Shannon and her family at the ranch. Both have issues and an attraction for eachother but its only a matter of time before Carter wanders off.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved how supportive her family was but it was bordering on ridiculous shes a women who needs a bit of space. How is she supposed to learn to defend herself and be independent when her brothers and those around her keep stepping in. I loved that with Carter he didn't just step in he gave her her space. I loved seeing the way they were as well there was the chemistry between each other and with how they lives were you can't help but root for them to finaly find the happiness they seek. I loved getting to know the characters and seeing how this book turned out. There was bit of drama here and there and enough to keep the readers wanting more. Overall great book I enjoyed it.

Carter Kelly has a wandering spirit, working short term jobs here and there while he saves money, and runs from his past.

Shannon has been a bit out of place and uncertain where her place is after her brothers returned to Red Dog Ranch and have taken over control. She's recovering from the fall out of a toxic relationship, and throwing herself into the planning of a fundraiser to help at risk youth.

Carter and Shannon have been hurt in the past, but can they give love a second chance?

Carter comes to Red Dog Ranch looking for a place to work and forget about his past, he finds friends and mentors in an older couple who encourage him, and are like parents to him. He is a natural with the teens, and despite his wandering ways, he is also committed to his work.

Shannon has a positive energy about her, despite her past and she relies on her faith to see her through. She is outgoing and quickly befriends the begrudging Carter.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read, with great characters. I liked how it addressed a situation where someone had been hurt by the church, and how it affected their faith moving forward, as that is a very real thing that happens. Engaging with an easy to follow plot, I loved Carter's friends and how they encouraged him in his faith and were there when he needed them. Heartwarming and enjoyable.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

'How someone treats you doesn't define who you are. It only reveals who they are.'

Jessica Keller brings us the third book in her Red Dog Ranch series and it is very good indeed.
Shannon Jarrett is the kid sister of three older brothers and they've always treated her as if she couldn't function if they weren't there to protect her and watch over her. This fact has annoyed her to no end. When the new head wrangler, Carter Kelly, rescues her pet goose, Shannon feels as if she's found someone to confide in. Shannon has endured a pretty painful break up and Carter has some horribly painful issues in his past, so can they trust God with all this so that He can bring healing to them both?

This book carries a significant faith message, which I thoroughly enjoy. The elderly veterinarian and his wife were two of my favorite characters in this book and they were two people who surely knew what God can do in a surrendered life. I wept at one part, but I won't give it away. I haven't read the first two books in this series, and now I must go back and read them!

This sweet book was a great read. A story of second chances for those who overcame some serious situations. Humor splashed through out the book kept the otherwise heavy topics light and enjoyable. The creative of the situation with Wing Crosby was great. What an amazing name for a goose.

I received a free advanced copy of this book, but all opinions are my own. Thanks, Netgalley!
