It's been a wee while since I read a Kings of the Castle series, so was scrolling through my kindle and came to King of Morgan Park by Karen D. Bradley. I have to admit, I wasn't feeling the same love of the Castle members in this book and if it hadn't featured some of the characters from the other books it wouldn't have felt like one either as the King of Morgan Park has been named and it is Daron Kincaid. Unlike the others, Daron didn't go to the same school as them but he did know Khali as he was his sort of mentor. The other different thing is that Daron inherited his seat at the table from Bishop who was a Crime Boss. We do have Daron's love interest as Cameron who was a former assassin/hitwoman and then we do have bad guys that are threatened by Daron and want him run to the ground, or better killed which again was similar to the other stories as Daron not only runs a security business but he also mentors young men to help them get away from the life of gangs and to set them on the right path by using their talents for good not evil. Overall, I did enjoy King of Morgan Park as it was good to be reunited with the other characters and familiarity of some storylines from the previous books in this series I have read but in saying that it just didn't have that same connection feel among the brotherhood aka the other Kings of the Castle.

It was ok, I don't know I guess seeing as there are so many king's stories I thought it would have been better. I have never read this author before and I dont know if I will jump at the chance to do so again. These could all be read as a standalone, however I like to know everything..so even thought this was not my cold cup of tea, I didn't hate it to the point that I would not continue..

Although this book is a part of the series, this is a stand alone and the only book you'll need to read before this is the Kings of The Castle. Daron Kincaid is the techie of the kings, using his abilities for good in attempts to keep women from being sex trafficked. His Significant other Cameron is just as tough and stubborn as he is, which makes for an interesting read. All are working together to bring the Castle back to where it was originally slated to be.

I think the most interesting thing about this book is that two strong willed people are in a relationship with each other. Their personalities shine through and they truly make it work. That's not always an easy task. It was a fast paced, interesting read and I enjoyed it.

King of Morgan Park by bestselling author, Karen D. Bradley, is book five of the nine book Kings of the Castle series penned by various female authors. Book one, Kings of the Castle is an introduction to all of the Kings, with emphasis on Vikkas Germaine. Books two through nine are standalones with no cliffhangers and can be read in any order, though I’m reading them in sequence.

Nine former students of Khalil Germaine, now Kings of The Castle, are recruited by their mentor to root out and eliminate the corruption that has infiltrated The Castle, initially a humanitarian endeavor. They vow to protect The Castle and each other from future attacks, while searching for the person or persons responsible for the attempted assassination of their mentor, Khalil, and his son, Vikkas. Along the way they meet some extraordinary women. This is Daron Kincaid’s story.

Daron Kincaid is the only king who didn’t attend Macro International Magnet School run by mentor, Khalil Germaine, though he did qualify and was selected for the program. Daron’s Castle membership and position as a king are inherited.

Daron is a part Filipino inventor and security specialist. He owns and runs a security firm, Crossroads Security, and utilizes his chosen field and his new position as a king to improve security at the Castle. He invents innovative new technology, including a tracking device used to locate women being trafficked. His protective tendencies extend to his girlfriend, Cameron. Daron loves her but keeps secrets that cost him her trust.

Marquise Sinclair is an international crime boss seeking to take Daron’s position with the new Castle Kings to increase his power in the criminal world. Marquise thinks the quickest way to get Daron’s seat is through Cameron, Daron’s girlfriend. That is a major miscalculation.

Cameron Stone is beautiful but deadly. She can use her feminine wiles or her extensive training to take down any man who makes the mistake of thinking her weak. Cameron finds herself caught between two men. One wants to use her as leverage against the other. Can she defeat one and capture the heart of the other?

King of Morgan Park is another masterful addition to the Kings of the Castle series. Bradley has brought her characters to life. There are more than a few secondary characters, but the story still flows smoothly. Once again, my attention was held from start to finish. The plot features multiple destructive secrets and provides an adrenaline rush. The author maintains the extraordinary continuity, evidenced throughout the series thus far.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and give it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys multicultural romantic suspense or well-written contemporary romance. There is some sexual content that may not be suitable for all readers.

My thanks to Independent Publishers Group and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

This one was really hard to get into... There were so many different story lines going on and way too many people everywhere.
Just wasn't feeling this one

King of Morgan Park was an action packed, sweet and spicy story of Daron and Cameron. All kinds of suspense, action, high tech gadgets and a hot romance kept me on the edge of my sleep, or awake way to late reading. I loved that Cameron and Daron, despite their attraction to each other didn’t fall into the perfect love immediately. They had to work hard for their relationship, which made their story relatable. I also loved the strong, bad ass female lead. I wouldn’t mess with Cameron. She is the perfect match for Daron. This was a fun read, and like all of the other Kings stories, kept a flow tying in all of the necessary details of the others in the castle to keep me engaged. Very well written and an exciting fun read.

Though this is a stand-alone, I highly recommend starting with Kings of the Castle and reading each Kings story in order. I read them all out order. They are so expertly crafted and flow so well between each of the books, it’s hard to tell each is crafted by a different author. Very well done!

ARC received for review

It was bad, very bad. There were so many different story lines going on and way too many people everywhere. There was almost none of the other Kings in this book. Cameron and Daron's relationship was all kinds of weird. I can't remember a single bedroom scene in the whole thing. Plus there was weird technology being used (like should have been in an Avenger's movie). Then the ending just sucked. How I managed to finish it I'll never know, but I did put it down several times to read something else.

King of Morgan Park is the fifth book in the King of the Castle series, and my first exciting read by Karen D. Bradley. This story is a wonderful instalment in the Kings series and tells of Daron’s determination to protect the boys in his care, while maintaining a relationship with the lovely Cameron. Drama, angst, mystery and romance are all combined to make this a credible addition to this engaging and addictive series. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and the character representations were believable. I can’t wait for the next exciting story!

Awesome Kings Of The Castle Series

What kind I say about Daron better know in his earlier life as the "Warden".
Daron is a software genius that develops devices that help people in danger and need help. He has develops a pair of diamond earrings that when activated can track someone who has been kidnapped.. Daron also helps young guys that are genius but use their skills for bad. He is trying to save a couple of his guys who have witnessed a murder, stole paints and who has a integral part in manipulating the software in the castle for someone to kill Kahlil.

Daron also has a lady in his life by the name of Cameron who is a chameleon and someone you would want on your side and to rescue you that's just how good Cameron is. She is warrior and bad ass who is not afraid of no one and can take you down and out in matter of seconds..

Daron and Cameron are both keeping secrets from each other. Cameron has informed Daron that if does not come clean with her that she is out. Daron has some much going on with the Castle and the young guys that he is trying to keep out of trouble. He also has aunt that blames herself for the death of Daron's father and she keeps getting in trouble but also manages to get herself out of trouble with the help of bodyguards that Daron has watching her at all times.

Looking for a great read or great reads you should hope on over to your online bookstore and click on the Kings of the Castle.

Now on to read book # 6–King of South Shore Kaleb Valentine who is another one the Kings Of the Castle.and Skyler Pierson who works for Reno.

Karen Bradley did a brilliant job of creating Daron Kincaid, a handsome alpha male with quiet ways. But don’t be fooled. He’s confident and will handle his business when push comes to shove. Daron is fighting battles on every hand. He is striving not to lose Cameron (the love of his life), who is distancing herself for two reasons: because she wants assurance that Daron has left his old life behind and also because Daron’s enemies threaten to harm her when he gets too close to uncovering their dirt. At the same time, Daron has taken on the responsibility of keeping the young men in his program out of jail—a goal that others want to see him fail in. As if that weren’t enough, Daron did something great when he found a young girl that went missing in Morgan Park, but the media is twisting this good deed into something sinister. And did I mention all the unique gadgets Daron creates? You’ll be thinking “where can I get one of those?” King of Morgan Park is so good you may forget to blink while you’re reading it. That’s just how engaging it is!

3.75stars—KING OF MORGAN PARK by Karen D Bradley is the fifth instalment in the multi-authored/ multi-cultural KINGS OF THE CASTLE romantic suspense series focusing on nine ‘brothers’ from the streets of Chicago (Vikkas, Reno, Shaz, Jai, Daron, Kaleb, Grant, Dro and Dwayne) mentored and taught by the mysterious Khalil Germaine at the exclusive Macro International Magnet School in Chicago. This is King of Morgan Park tech whiz Daron Kincaid, and Cameron Stone’s story line. KING OF MORGAN PARK can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the author’s TRANSITION OF POWER for backstory and cohesion, where Daron and Cameron’s story line begins.

NOTE: KING OF MORGAN PARK runs parallel to crosses over with several of the previous instalments in The Kings of the Castle series.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Cameron and Daron) KING OF MORGAN PARK follows Daron Kincaid as he struggles with his membership in The Castle, a position he ‘inherited’ from a former crime lord, a position coveted by Marquise Sinclair. Threats against his life, and that of the woman he loves finds Daron trying to protect Cameron Stone, a woman who is able to protect herself. The fall-out of Daron’s life and connections to crime push Cameron to the periphery where she refuses to become collateral damage.

KING OF MORGAN PARK is a fast paced, entertaining, well written and intriguing story line but in all honesty, I was confused throughout most of the story line as the author continues to build upon previous story lines bringing together several characters from her other stories and series including Mia and Calvin from The Confection Assignment. Many of the characters were unfamiliar -you have to have read the author’s Transition of Power in order to follow or understand several of the references to previous events. As well, The Kings of the Castle story line takes a back seat to the author’s previous stories and characters thusly feeling disconnected from the overall premise.

I am loving this series of 9 books and I was extremely excited to read Daron's story. HIs presence in the first couple of books was so mysterious but also helped all of the kings so much. I did struggle with this book a lot though. I had a hard time keeping all of the characters separated and knowing who went where and who had history with who. I also had a hard time understanding the back story for Daron and Cameron. It seemed like we came in half way through their relationship and they never went back to explain how they met and what caused them to end up together. I am going to do some research to see if these characters were introduced in another one of Karen's books because I would love to know more of Cameron's backstory and her brothers.

I did enjoy getting to find out more about Aunt Bee and why she felt so responsible for Daron's fathers death. Also seeing Daron's day in and day out job was extremely interesting.

Thank you to net galley, Karen D. Bradley and Ambrosia Sands Books for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

DNF
A wave of familiarity hit Daron as he bolted from the bed. The words I saw Levi Diesel kill a man had broken through Daron’s sleep haze. Weeks ago Katarta Johnson - one of his few clients- had called him early about her daughter tracy missing. This time the call came from one of three young men in his re-enrichment program. “ Mr Dee we’re in trouble” Amarion replied, his voice heavy with fear. “ Did he see you?” The last time he received an early morning call , he also got a text informing him Khalil. A man who had hired Daron’s security company-Crossroads Security- Khalil had been shot. Those two weeks had been subtly interrelated. Amarion said no but Midas may have. Darom asked where he was and Amarion said he kept moving that Levi had eyes all over Morgan Park. “ Can you make it to the kickback?” daron asked. The kickback was the code word they used to refer to the house where he conducted the re-enrichment program. When Amarion said yes daron told him he’d meet Amerion there and the door will be unlocked. Daron was dating Caeron and she asked if he needed backup. Daron said no he needs to get off Amarion off the streets and see what was going on. When Daron got to the house he asked Amarion what happened, Amarion said “ remember the story about the girl who went missing but was found with a tracker?” Daron said you mean Tracy Johnson? Daron had developed an earring tracking system to help combst Sex traffickig problems and to protect young woman. Women who tend to be alone a lot. For the safety of hos clients he was still utilizing the earrings. Daron developed a decoy device for Tracy’s mother when Taracy went missing.”Well Levi wanted the keychain tracker tracy’s mother was talking about on the news.” From what Amarion said Levi wanted to see if it was emitting any frequency or something. Steve was the man daron trusted with security and to gather intel and he sent Levi’s name. Amerion said he works for Marquise but he occasionally has Amerion . do jobs for Levi. it was about five minutes after he put the keychain where they had told him to- he stole it for Levi. He heard Levi arguing with a man and shot him. The other witness-Midas- was sneaking up to the crafting area from the back at the exact moment . Amerion was told he had to be taken out of the area and Daron would protect his mother. Amerion said it was his job to protect his mother. In two weeks, his mother was moving to be with his grandmother. Also Amerion had heard Levi talking about this new guy was causing him to lose money and he was talking about Daron. Daron wondered why Levi had a problem with him. He left Amarion at the kickback until he had talked to reese. Reese confirmed there was no whisper of Amerion on the streets.
I really couldn’t get into this book. It just didn’t hold my attention, and I read close to half. I am sure there are many readers who will love this. Just wasn’t for me.

King of Morgan Park is an excellent addition of the Kings of the Castle standalone series. Daron and Cameron have a past that is laced with danger and intrigue. They are trying to lay that part of their lives to rest, but old enemies are not too keen on letting them ride off into the sunset. Now, with Daron’s newfound membership in The Castle, the relationship is on edge as his responsibilities of finding out who tried to assassinate his mentor, Khalil Germaine, and which of the former members is not going away quietly into that dark night, now had Daron in a dangerous battle with people who don’t mind increasing Chicago’s body count by nine—the exact number of Kings who are now trying to right the wrongs that have been done over the past five years. Karen Bradley weaves an awesome tale that blends suspense, intrigue, with a touch of romance. Every last one of the series that I have read so far (Books 1-4 before now), delivers. King of Morgan Park is no different.

Daron Kincaid, the inventor of a tracking device to locate victims of sex trafficking, is the King of Morgan Park. This story is fast paced with nonstop action.

Karen Bradley is one of the best when it comes to action scenes. Her cinematic gift brings a story from the pages to the big screen. At least that’s what it felt like when I was reading and it honestly kept me on the edge of my seat.

It’s an exciting to read this series of books and experience the writing style of each author.

Another great addition to the series. I read this book ‘out of order’, but it makes no difference in the series. No cliffhangers, just solid characters and a well-designed plot keep the reader coming back to the castle.
