This was a great start to a new series! It has everything I love about this authors writing from the great world building to bringing to life unique characters I really want to get to know a whole lot better. It was a quick, smexy, a little quirky and fun read that kept me turning the pages until the very end.

Evie was a blast. This girl is sweet, sassy and quirky, but owns every bit of it. I loved her confidence and just how much she loved everything she did. Mateo is a sweetheart. I know, not the first word you’d associate with a werewolf, but he is. He’s charming, has a good heart and is simply a good man...and then there is his Wolf. He is definitely a unique character that brings that alpha AF protectiveness to the forefront, along with no edit button whatsoever.

Mateo and Evie’s journey to their HEA is all kinds of slow burn opposites attract goodness. I really enjoyed watching as they got to know each other and work really hard to deny their oh, so obvious attraction to each other. Their bantering was fun, the chemistry was hot and I loved how they accepted each other’s quirks and simply enjoyed who the other was. The angsty/drama between them is low, which I liked, and though there were a few bumps in their road, I loved how everything worked itself out in the end.

I’m a fan girl of the authors, have been for a while now, and I thoroughly enjoyed this lighter, more humorous side of her writing. The world is vibrant and really has me wanting to visit NOLA ~ and Louisiana in general ~ sooner rather than later ~ especially the Abita Brewery (I got real thirsty for one and had none on hand) and she has brought to life a whole slew of characters I NEED to get to know better. I don’t have an absolute favorite at the moment, but, crazy as it seems, the ones I’m most intrigued by are Clara and Violet ~ trust me when you meet them you’ll totally understand. So, bring on the rest of the series or as they say in the Big Easy laissez les bon temps rouler!

Wolf Gone Wild is one of my most anticipated books of 2020 and I read it before the end of last year! I did not know what to expect when I started reading – but it was all such a surprise and I love this book!

Mateo is unable to shift and needs a hex breaker to break the curse he is in. Enter Evie, a top-notch hex breaker and sparks begin to fly because Mateo’s wolf, Alpha WANTS Evie!

The most outstanding aspect of Wolf Gone Wild is Alpha’s commentary! I love that he has no filter and basically is all ALPHA! I will miss hearing his inner thoughts!

Mateo is one huge cinnamon roll, by the way! And I love how opposite he is to Alpha! Mateo and Alpha’s conversation reminds me so much of Venom! And I really want more of it! The short Christmas novella featuring Evie and Mateo (and Alpha’s commentary) was not enough to sate my love for Alpha!

Evie is one character that I really loved. She was unique and quirky, but not too quirky. I love how she transformed from being insecure and afraid to reach for her dreams to a heroine who embraced it all and took the plunge and finally wrote and published her graphic novel.

The Savoie sisters were an amazing bunch! I love how Juliette Cross included almost all the sisters, which gave me a taste of what to expect. In fact, I think I know who two of the sisters will be paired up with, and I can’t wait!

Wolf Gone Wild also kept me guessing who the villain was until probably three-quarters in! This is good! I had narrowed it down to two possible people and I guessed it before the villain was revealed.

Another surprising thing that delighted me was that this is a paranormal rom-com! There were LOL moments here that I really loved. The tone of this book was unique and unusual for a paranormal romance (that I have read, anyway) and I loved it.

If you love amazing unfiltered commentary, a sexy hot romance, a cinnamon bun artist-hero, and a strong heroine, Wolf Gone Wild is the book for you!

Wolf Gone Wild (Stay A Spell #1) by Juliette Cross is a fun werewolf/witch opposites attract love story and the first in a new series. This is a fun romp in a well-developed world. Mateo is a hot werewolf with a problem that only witch Evie Savoie has a chance to fix. They didn’t count on falling in love. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to following installments.

Wolf Gone Wild is the first book in a new fantasy series.
Mateo Cruz is a werewolf, who is looking for someone to break a hex that permits him to shift. And that someone is powerful hex -breaking witch Evie Savoie.
While Mateo is a loner wolf, Evie has a big family. She is one of six Savoie sisters. Each of them has special magic skills.
Even though they are hesitant at first to help a werewolf, soon all sister present Evie, Jules, Violet and Clara ( two are traveling) are helping Mateo.
In between all the mystery-solving, Mateo & Evie get to know each other.

What I loved about this book were all these new and fun characters.
I really enjoyed this lighthearted & steamy paranormal romance.
The chemistry between Evie & Mateo is off the charts.... HOT!!!

This is a book for you if you are looking for a fun & feelgood book!!

Now, why this wasn't a perfect read for me is the way Mateo inner dialogue with his wolf went. This is something completely subjective. I needed to get used to the constant bickering between Mateo and his Alpha. It felt a lot of times like a double personality disorder. And I can't say that I am a fan.

I am definitely are looking forward to reading more about these characters. And already hinted couples are looking very promising.

If you love to read a steamy romance with warlocks, witches, werewolves & vampires this a book for you!! Great start to a series...

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Werewolves, Witches, & Vampires, Oh My! This was my first read from Juliette and it won't be my last. This story had everything I could ask for. I am such a sucker for a werewolf romance and then you add witches and i'm 100% sold. This story begins with Mateo, a metal sculpture artist and werewolf. Mateo learns a hex has been put on him, preventing him from shifting and doesn't know who did it. Now if you can imagine, that would be the ultimate struggle for a werewolf come the full moon. This leads to him seeking out the local witch coven where he meets Evie, a witch who specializes in hex breaking. Due to past bad blood between werewolves and witches, the witches don't associate with them, but in walks tall, dark, and handsome Mateo in his most vulnerable state needing her help. Does she break the rules and help out this wolf in need?

I loved the friends to lovers relationship, the bond between Evie and her sisters, and being in New Orleans. And can I just mention I have much appreciation for all of the Star Wars and Marvel references? It made me feel like I could relate to Evie and I just wanted her to be my best friend. The romance was on fire! The sexual tension between Evie and Mateo was hot and I just love the chemistry between them. Now I was a little on the fence about Mateo and his inner wolf "Alpha". Alpha has his own dialog in Mateo's head and it's very comical. However, It still added to the story and I actually like the idea of Alpha being apart of Mateo but his animalistic side and almost like he was his own entity. Overall, This was such a fun fast read and that ending! I want the next book in the series now! 5/5 witchy stars!

NetGallery provided me with a copy of this book and I am glad for the last minute book before it was archived! WOW! This book was amazing and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read and moon over one of the main characters. You have literally everything that you would want in a fantasy book; werewolves, witches, grimms and vampires. The only reason why I wanted to read this book was to read about werewolves again. After reading Weregirl by C.D. Bell at the start of the month I have been obsessed with them!

There are two dialogues from two different people and it is easy to follow and you get to know the characters and grow to love them. You meet a witch called Evie who has a big family of 5 sisters the Savoie Sisters who old the club and shop for humans and every other living creature. Then there is Mateo a werewolf who is having problems with his inner wolf and he needs to sort out his little problem by visiting the witches, where he stumbles across the first Savoie sister he sees; Evie.

At first Evie is a little hesitant to help this lone werewolf but then thinks about what her mother would do and she decides to help him. As she is a hex breaker she feels this would be an easy job to help him out. But it turns out to be more complex than normal before she can break the hex.

When Mateo is around Evie, his inner wolf is more calm and doesn’t feel the need to be boisterous, by hurting other people. Alpha feels so much better with having Evie around. But Mateo doesn’t want to push a romance situation onto her when she is doing him a favour by helping him with hex so he can transform into a wolf again. But everyday Mateo feelings are growing stronger for Evie. Will there be a happy every after or was it doomed from the beginning?

I wasn’t expecting much humour in the story as it was a romance but Mateo’s, wolf Alpha was very funny and when they was talking to each other fighting what they both thought was right had me smiling and snickering at some of the gestures. I loved each character for each of their traits but the relationship and love Mateo and Evie had me swooning from side to side. Also the love the sisters have for each other os remarkable and they would do anything to keep each other safe. Every family should be like this supporting and holding each other up.

Overall I loved this book and I would recommend reading this for a beautiful and well written fantasy story that has a number of key point; family, werewolves, witches, vampires, grimms, love, hurt and most of all passion for doing the things that you love the most in life.

(I received a complimentary ARC from Netgalley but all opinions provided are my own.)

When I first saw that Juliette Cross was writing a shifter & witch romance I was so excited. The lead combo itself sounds amazing—a shifter and witch, yes, please!—and I’ve really liked Cross’s books that I’ve read before. With Wolf Gone Wild Cross has crafted a distinctive story that’s both dramatic and lighthearted; it’s a hot romance that’s also not afraid to embrace the nerdier aspects of real life.

Shifter Mateo’s being tormented by the constant presence of his wolf, Alpha. Usually wolves only come out when a shifter shifts, but not only has Mateo been unable to shift lately, the much more aggressive, violent, and sex-fixated aspects of his personality come out thanks to Alpha—though Mateo’s mostly not acting on those thoughts. Finally, Mateo can’t take it anymore, and he approaches famous hex-breaking witch Evie to beg for her help.

Evie and her famous witch sisters don’t have anything to do with dangerous, unpredictable shifters. But she finds herself drawn to Mateo and his problem and she agrees to help him break the hex.

If she can figure it out.

As part of her mission to help Mateo, Evie agrees to spend time with him. The forced proximity trope really works for me—especially since it’s pretty voluntary on Evie’s part—and it helps the two leads establish a relationship that’s adorable and sweet and includes enough moments of temptation to have kept my anticipation up.

Their adventures take them throughout New Orleans, a setting that’s atmospheric and vividly rendered. I loved feeling immersed in the supernatural world that Cross sets up. She peppers the book with hints of future romances, and I can’t wait to check them out. *Fingers crossed for a grim romance.*

Though there’s plenty of drama and darkness in this book, it also feels approachable and buoyant—partially due to the fact that it’s in first person, I think, and probably largely because of Evie's personality. Evie’s a comic fanatic. She’s also nice and super cute and feels like someone you know/are. While I appreciated reading about a character who feels unique in the shifter-romance-novel world, there are times when the book feels a little too cute for me, and I kind of miss the heavier tone of pnrs that I’m more familiar with.

Overall, Wolf Gone Wild offers a creative spin on a shifter romance where creativity and artistry is a big part of the story itself. Luckily for readers, it’s also super steamy when Mateo and Evie finally succumb to temptation. While I didn’t always gravitate toward Evie’s perky personality, I did enjoy the read, and I’m really excited to see where Cross takes the series next.

I am really sad to say I was not a fan of this book! I love Juliette Cross - her books are magical and her characters are so genuine and relatable. But this heroine...I just can't get behind her. I felt she was very immature, especially when you find out she is almost 30 years old. She acts like she's in high school! At one point she talks about an ex who broke up with her because she wasn't serious, and I'll agree that he was so not someone I would want to be with. BUT he was right that she's not a serious person. At all. I felt like I was reading a YA book, maybe with a 16 year old heroine (at most, 16) and a college guy. It was just not appealing to me.

I LOVED Alpha, the hero's wolf side. He is awesome, even if he is super dirty minded. The parts of the book I liked best were when he was talking. I wish I would have liked the heroine, because then I think this book would have been amazing.

Not my cup of tea, but I will still be promoting this book once it's released! Juliette Cross is an author to watch, even if you don't like every book she writes.

I feel like this book could not decide whether it wanted to be a funny, lighthearted romance or be taken seriously as a mystery within a paranormal world. But for me, it ended up neither and left me feeling dissatisfied.

The setup was pretty good and (combined with the pretty cover), the reason I picked it up in the first place. A group of sisters running a coven and a bar, each with their own powers and personality? Sign me up.

I was most disappointed by the setup of the curse. I don't feel it was very well explained, nor did the curser have a good enough motive in my opinion. Mateo, especially, ignores his problem most of the time and is not concerned at all what might happen if it doesn't get resolved soon. We are treated to awkward interactions and dates instead, which felt juvenile and ill-timed considering the problem at hand.
Mateo's wolf side, Alpha, served no purpose at all but was more an excuse to be a dick and/or have lustful thoughts about Evie. I wanted more from a werewolf plotline. Why is his soul split, was it the same before? Alpha seemed more like a horny voice inside Mateo's head which annoyed me pretty early on. He also offers nothing to the storyline except for cheap punchlines.

I can barely explain the rules or the magic system this world is a part of. New information is added at random or at convenient times to further to explain what is going on; you can't really figure out the mystery of the curse yourself because you don't have all the information.
It was very clear immediately which characters and couples would feature in the following novels, this book does not do subtlety.

This book reminded me of the Sookie Stackhouse series, which I adored. There are a few similarities (and a lot of differences) but it never feels like it's trying to copy Charlaine Harris' work. My point is it has a similar vibe to that series and that was a great thing for me!

I enjoyed this story a ton, from the very first page to the last. There are witches, werewolves, vampires, and other supernatural beings. There's a lot of magic, and a lot of steam! Once things started heating up, I couldn't put it down!

The only reason I'm not going with a higher rating despite how much I liked it is, the writing could have been better. It's not bad, but with such a strong storyline and interesting characters, there could have been richer language, and more depth to the dialogue.

I highly recommend this for readers of paranormal romance.

I tried so hard to get into this book, but I just couldn't. While the premise was great, the delivery was trite and rather bland. I so wanted this book to be better than it was! In the end, I couldn't finish it.

I expected a YA paranormal romance, but it turned out to very much not YA, and very much focused on the physical romance. Not really my kind of books, but I think people who do like these kinda of books more would enjoy this one a lot, so I will absolutely recommend this to romance readers!

This book was a fun, fast-paced read that brought me into New Orleans filled with paranormal magical creatures and people all hidden in plain sight.

I loved the characters of the Savoie sisters and am intrigued to continue reading their stories.

I was a little surprised by the graphic nature of some of the sex scenes as I wasn't expecting them, and there were moments where the relationship between Evie and Mateo felt a little forced. The constant pop culture references grew a little wearing after a while. I think that the highlighting of that aspect of Evie's personality - her 'nerdiness' was a little overdone.

I found the character of Evie to be an interesting, fun narrator - strong willed and feisty. Mateo for me was a weaker character, and I found the fact Evie seemed so accepting of Alpha a little at odds with her persona.

There were points where Evie and Mateo's relationship felt less like that between two adults, and more two teens, perhaps due to the language chosen.

Overall I enjoyed this story and would certainly continue to read this series.

Wolf Gone Wild is the first book in the new Stay A Spell series by Juliette Cross and a story I was eager to read after a sneek peek of Evie &Mateo in the Bewitch You a Merry Christmas story from the Christmas After Dark anthology.
I took to Evie instantly, which doesn't happen often to me, with female lead characters. She's caring and determined as well as having a nerdy side that matches my own. We bonded over our StarWars/Marvel love lol.
Ah Mateo, my heart went out to him completely, years of reading shifter based pnr has given me the knowledge of how dangerous & destructive being unable to shift can be, but adding in a black magic cause, took his torment to a whole new level.
I really enjoyed the fact that Alpha is so upfront & present in Mateo's life, that was new to me and I loved their interactions and conversations. I'm so glad Alpha doesn't fade completely at the end of this story. He's become an important character in his own right for me.
I'm now looking forward to seeing where this series goes as it progresses. I want to know more about the Savoie sister witches and hopefully catch up with Evie and Mateo along the way.
Juliette Cross, you've caught me with this series :)

5 stars!

Wolf Gone Wild is a refreshing departure from the oftentimes dark and angsty paranormal romances set in New Orleans. Evie - a comic-crazed, hex-breaking witch - and Mateo - an artist wolf-shifter and loner - made a unique pair, especially with the addition of Mateo's wolf - Alpha.

Something is blocking Mateo from going furry once a month which causes his inner wolf to invade his everyday thoughts. So much so, that he fears Alpha taking over completely! Mateo seeks the help of a renowned hex-breaker and member of the Savoie witch coven - the ruling entity of New Orleans.

I love a good nerdy heroine, and Evie is so charmingly obsessed with Marvel and Star Wars - so many references to pop culture. Their budding relationship and Evie's bubbly influence on the broody werewolf were delightful, but it's Alpha who really steals the show.

Mateo's inner wolf is hilariously primal - thinking in terms of kill or be killed, and lusting so hard after Evie that it's driving Mateo insane. Every interaction between Mateo and Alpha is gold and I couldn't get enough of them.

Wolf Gone Wild is book one of the Stay a Spell series and sets up the world nicely for future installments. There's definitely a few teased relationships simmering in the background. I can't wait to see which of the Savoie sisters is next!

Well written Paranormal Romance, about a wolf shifter and sculptor Mateo, who has been blocked in some way from being able to shift. He is getting desperate, as his wolf alter ego Alpha is getting very aggressive, so he seeks help from the local paranormal community, and ends up asking the local witches coven to help him. Eveleen (Evie), is the hex breaker of a coven of 6 sisters, known as the Savoie sisters, who also run a local bar and restaurant, called The Cauldron; natch; together.

I really liked this book because of the developing relationship between Mateo and Evie, he really made an effort to get to know her, and unusually in these type of shifter romances, there wasn’t too much of a D/S theme. Mateo was always respectful and mindful of Evie, and there was no troubling instances of not respecting Evie’s choices. I liked the way he was open to her passion for comics and Star Wars etc, and the fact they are both artists, gives them a nice connection.

I also liked the glimpses we had of some of the other sisters, Jules the Siphon, a controlled older sister and talented cook, fighting her connection to Ruben the overlord of the local Vampires, Violet the aggressive scryer, who is attracted to Nico, Mateo’s cousin, and Clara, who feeds the homeless and has an afternoon tea book club with lots of older ladies, and seems to be attracted to one of the Grims that guard the paranormal in the district.

The problem with Mateos hex is well handled, and although I managed to work out the plot twist, it was only just before it happened. So all in all well written and enjoyable read, and I am intrigued to seek out the forthcoming books in the series.

There were a couple of spelling/grammatical errors in my ARC, hopefully they have been picked up, one I remember is the use of the word ‘flare’, when the correct usage is ‘flair’, as in having a flair for something.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

Also posted on Goodreads.

Werewolfs,witches, hexes. Oh My!

Such a fun read, Wolf Gone Wild is book one in a brand new series by Juliette Cross, Within this series you are going to meet the Savoie sisters, that just happen to be witches who live in New Orleans.

Mateo Cruz has always had control over his wolf except during his shift. But something is blocking Mateo from being able to shift. What could it be?

As these two spend time together, they form a bond. Juliette Cross never fails to amaze me and that’s just what she did with this new series.

Wolf Gone Wild by author Juliette Cross was an entertaining read that kept the smiles and intrigue flowing from start to finish. Evie's character was a stand out, and equally the secondary characters of her sisters. The smoulderingly troubled Mateo did not disappoint either. I cannot wait for the author to write more books in the series. Wolf Gone Wild was an unmissable beginning to what is sure to be entertaining reading in the Stay a Spell series from Ms Cross.

Any story set in my favorite city of New Orleans is a win! This one doesn’t disappoint. Nothing better than witches and werewolves in one of the most haunted and beautiful cities in America. The ambiance of the setting and chemistry between the leading characters make this a 5 star romance read. Enjoy!
