I liked the pictures in this book. The story flowed well, and I like how it incorporated Spanish in as well. I think the story is something that many kids can identify with and it covers the problem in a good way.

This was a bittersweet story about a grandmother in the beginning stages of dementia. It did a good job of showing children they can still enjoy time together without minimizing the feelings of fear and sadness it brings. It will be especially useful for children whose grandparents are experiencing any type of memory loss.

My Singing Nana brings back memories from my childhood of spending time with my Nanny (Grandmother) and gives me warm fuzzies. This is a heartwarming story of a family and the togetherness and memories that they have shared and continue to share. It also touches on a subject that can be rather difficult and delicate at the same time: when an older adult begins to experience memory lapses. This is handled in such a way in the story that it allows for the children to understand and to help their Nana with such love and caring. Diversity is also a key factor in this story. It is nice to see other nationalities along with their customs and language. A bonus at the end of the story is a recipe for Nana’s cherry empanadas which are featured throughout the story. Pat Mora, as always, writes a beautiful story, and the illustrations by Alyssa Bermudez are colorful, bright and engaging. This is a great story for young children. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

This book tells us about dealing with people with dementia signs

They talk about it from the child's POV, as the one who slowly seeing their loved one slowly forgetting things. You know, the elder, who used to be their hero/heroine, slowly losing their charms.

If I'm not mistaken, this book got Spanish background, and there are some words that sadly not being translated. And also some terms like the food, not really explained so made me as non-spanish speaker not really get it

Overall, a good book, heartwarming but I expect something more about the experience, how the memory loss is affecting their life, and how children deal with it

A sweet story about patience, and understanding our elders. Seems simple but when they become older and changes happen like forgetting or anger it’s easy to be a bit scared. This book helps kids deal with that big feeling in a bit so heavy way.

I loved the idea behind the book of cooking and baking bringing the family together.
My daughter loves joining in with the cooking and baking in the kitchen and all family activities so she could relate to the story.
I liked the dual language used in the book too and the images were lovely, the book also touches on the loss of memory for the grandma which is a good way to be able to raise the topic with a young child too - 4 stars from me for this one

The author takes on a difficult subject for young students, that of aging grandparents who suffer from memory impairment. It's one that isn't addressed often but pervasive today. The story provides some solace and a better understanding of how a young family member could be affected. The end notes further add to coping with it.
The message of family, love, and customs all add to the positivism of the book as do the vivid illustrations.

This is a very light version of what kids go through when their loved ones start losing their memory. The memory loss is very slight, and the child is assured that as long as we show love, and compassions, that they will now that we love them. And it is fine to help them remember too.

Simple story, but good message, and the gramma does sing the song she is supposed to, even though it is with a different grandchild.

This book is a book about Alzheimers/Dementia for children who may be experiencing it with an older relative - in this book it was the grandmother.
This book is a lovely gentle tale about a young boy and his love for his grandmother and how they help each other.
At the back of the book there are pointers for the parent on how to deal with handling a situation where a child may be worried about a loved one with Alzheimers/Dementia.
