A gripping, extremely relevant novel, perfect for these times we live in and a world in the net of a serious global environmental catastrophe.

They call him the Green Man and he has erupted on the scene as a modern-day eco-terrorist with the ability and smarts to make the world aware of the threat of global warming and all the other harmful ways we are exploiting our planet for greed and self-satisfaction. His means have put him in the sights of the federal government and they bring all their resources to bear to try to stop him before he strikes again.

The main character may have an eerie connection to the Green Man, with the uncanny ability to foresee his every move, but you know how his superiors are going to treat him. So he strikes out on his own to bring this man to justice even though he harbors some of the same beliefs about the environment.

Fast paced with a kick butt ending I think you will find yourself thinking about our planet's precarious position long after you finish the book.

I thought Out of Time was a really neat book with an important and very relevant message. The Green Man is a well-publicized vandal whose acts of violence and destruction are meant to show how we as humans are killing our planet, primarily for commercial gain. Tom Smith is an FBI agent whose mission is to catch Green Man and bring him to justice, but first he has to find out Green Man's true identity.
Klass really does a great job of developing the characters in this novel. Tom Smith's character is smart, witty, and easy to relate to as a person. His concern for the planet and our environment allows him to identify with Green Man, while simultaneously condemning methods that include human collateral damage. Green Man himself, as revealed to the reader, doesn't like the things he feels that he has to do to bring attention to the general public that the planet is dying and that only by working together (and quickly) can there be hope for the future.
Even though the book is an excellent mystery and suspense fiction novel, there is a lot of truth in the science it presents, and I hope it makes people think more about the world they live in and how to keep it clean and healthy.
