I highly recommend reading The Secret Sister. It’s intense, quick-paced, has well developed characters, & a plot that’s full of twists. Once I started reading, I could not put it down!!

I definitely enjoyed this one but unfortunately it got way too crazy at the end, at least for me. I'll still give it four stars because I liked it

Ella is sorting through her late mother's possessions and realizes that she has a half sister, Colleen - who is 3 years older than her. Ella's life is happy with her food photography, her husband, Greg - a lawyer and a sweet 4 year old daughter, Maisie. Ella and Colleen share the same birthmother, but not their fathers. Colleen, on the other hand, ran from her (abusive?) husband, Jake, and is literally hiding out from him. As all things must eventually boil down to money, As a recovering alcoholic, she falls off the wagon. Colleen tries to get in touch with her father, Reagan, who last corresponded with her when she was 5. Now, at 33, Colleen needs her estranged dad. for safety, cash and a place to stay. Yet, Colleen also sees Ella as a possibility for a place to stay and fill her needs.

Colleen spots her father after they finally agree to meet. He makes a phone call as he sees her and leaves the planned place before they even meet. As luck has it, Colleen (through Ella & Greg's generosity) meets Ella and her family at a hotel. Even this does not seem to go too well. And the lies Colleen spews may be hard to remember...

Excellent plot, characterization, and even a twist! The characters were strong (even if you do not like them all).
5 Stars for the story and the writing!!!

Dark and delicious. A genius thriller.
While clearing away her dead mother's stuff, Ella found a letter and a photograph which were hidden by her mum in the hope that her daughter will find them one day, Ella came to know that she has a sister named Colleen. Ella is desperate to find her sister and therefore ask her husband Greg and daughter to go Sligo where Colleen is coming to meet her father. Reagan. Colleen on the other hand has her own disturbing past. She is hiding from her husband Jake who keeps eyes on her everytime and doesn't let her go anywhere outside the house. As the story moved forward we come to know the different angles of Ella and Colleen. Things become worse when Colleen tried to kiss Greg and then one night she disappeared from a hotel in which Ella had booked room for them all. Where Colleen went? Had someone abducted her or she went on her own? To know all these answers you have to read this mind blowing psychological thriller.
Characters of Ella and Colleen were awesome while others didn't give you too much as you expect.
The story is told in Two POV's. One of Ella and other of Colleen and both POV's are awesome which keep the reader hooked until they finish it.
Thanks to NetGalley and HQ Digital for giving me an advance copy of this awesome psychological thriller.
A must read.

Finding out you have a long lost sister has always been a dream of mine, so this book synopsis immediately sparked my attention, I am happy to report, I don't want to find a long lost sister and this book held my attention thru a four hour infusion.
Ella has it all and it is all as she had perfectly planned for herself. But then, Ella's mother dies a tragic and unexpected death. With this death secrets start to pour out, the biggest one is that she has an older sister named Colleen. Why would her mother have hidden this from her? Ella puts that to the side and runs full speed into finding her and folding her into her life. But sometimes you shouldn't go find people without expecting what could come next. Colleen has her own issues and she wants to start over. Ella could be what she has been waiting for, but is that a good thing for Ella? The Colleen disappears and Ella needs to make some tough decisions. The twists that come out are enough to make me recommend this book on those alone.
Grab this book if you are looking for a good domestic thriller.

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

The plot sounded so intriguing, but the characters did not engage me as much as I had wanted them too and seemed a bit flat. The twist did genuinely surprise though, so I will give it a three and a half.
