The story starts slow and it is a little confusing at first. However it picks up. This is a fun read.

Excellent! Very well written historical romance. Perfect blend of intrigue, adventure, history and romance. Morrigan is feisty, practical, a pillar of strength, courage and compassion. Absolutely loved her interactions with Aidan, that are so comical yet serious. I laughed my way through several pages after their first encounter which is one of the most unforgettable, engaging and instantly gripping scenes I've read. Aidan is a great character as well, very kind, determined and patient. This was such a joy to read and will be my go-to when I need to read a book that I am guaranteed to love revisiting.

Morrigan is not your average young lady, she’s more comfortable being with the warriors, learning to fight and fighting the “cause” than being a true lady. During one of their missions she sees an unwelcome blast from her past. Thinking with her passionate heart and not her brains she sneaks away from her group with thoughts of killing her foe but along the way she collides with Aidan. As a Scottish lawyer trying to defend his unjustly imprisoned clients Aidan will use any means to support their defense and having his witness be attacked by this slip of a girl does not follow along with his plans. After a scuffle the two separate not realizing they would soon meet again. Most of the story circles around the political climate of the Highlands during the early 1800s with lots of interweaving characters but relationship between Aidan and Morrigan seems almost a side plot. They seem to compliment each other but there’s little heat to the romance (mostly later on). Still there is a lot of intrigue and mystery, especially surrounding the mysterious “witness” and his part in Morrigan’s past, which help fuel the story line and lots of tender moments between the leads. I just wish there was more of the relationship as the focus. 4 stars. I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review.

Morrigan is such a great character. She is feisty and determined. She makes a great addition to the other strong women of the castle. I like how she learns to fight and protect herself at a time in history when women would just ornaments. If I was going to live in old Scotland I want to be in the same spot as these women.
Aidan makes a good match of wits for Morrigan. He is a lawyer calm and logical where she is impulsive and a fighter. A good love story mixed with the political background to add interest.
I liked the book.

A VOW FOR VENGEANCE
Fleeing to the Highlands after her father’s murder, fiery Morrigan Drummond has a score to settle with Sir Rupert Burney, the English spymaster
A PLEA FOR PASSION
Aidan Grant has never encountered another woman like dangerous beauty Morrigan—and he has the bruises to prove it.
When I started reading I couldn't put it down.May McGoldrick is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this books. Can't wait for the next book.

I found it hard to get into this book but persevered and within a few chapters started to enjoy it. A tale a bit different from the normal romance which tells the story of an extremely feisty lady and her tall, handsome, brave and clever man. Entertaining

The McGoldricks have crafted an edge of the seat tale based on a period of time and an interplay of characters whose like we rarely see in historical romances. Both Scottish and English royalty make appearances in this story about the meeting of a barrister, who is a former soldier, and a female resistance fighter who battle at first glance leading to blood spilled by both. Despite a truce being called, plenty of conflict remains as the two battle themselves to arrive at the inevitable HEA. A pleasant and interesting read about a period of history we ought to be familiar with.

While this book had a bit of humor, mystery and romance, it was not really my favorite historical fiction. I think the problem was there were too many characters and plots right away and took me a bit to get everything straight and begin to enjoy the story. Aiden and Morrigan were the two main characters and their story was fun to see develop.
Recommend to those who read the first two books in the series.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Outstanding historical fiction! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story was full of interesting characters, historical perspectives, intriguing plots and of course, romance. The humorous banter between Aidan and his brother Sebastian and Morrigan and Aidan was entertaining and balanced the seriousness of the plots and dangers they endured. Great book!

While I enjoyed this book, I didn't love it. I loved the first two books and thought this would be the same, instead it started very slowly and with so many characters that it took effort to actually follow what the author was writing. I think part of the problem is that the author tied up all the loose ends from the prior books, in addition to this book telling a complicated story of its own.
I liked both Morrigan and Aiden and enjoyed their romance. However, it was weighted down so much by the subplots that I kept putting the book down.
If you've read the prior books in the series, this is worth reading just to see how the series concludes. While I remain a fan of the author, this is not her best work.

Sorry, this book just wasn't for me. There were too many characters, places, and relationships to try and keep up with or really get into the novel. Perhaps this book will resonate with others, but I could not finish the book.
Thank you, NetGalley for providing me with a copy to read and review.

A story of life in the highlands. An area torn about by wars and aristocracy, can two people put aside their differences and embrace the love they feel for each other.
While I did enjoy the main characters, I found that I had a bit of a hard time getting into the story. There were a lot of characters coming and going from the plot. About half way through the book the chapters began to alternate perspective, which is not my favorite way to move the story along. If you enjoy law and a very in-depth back story, this might be just the book for you.
I found the main characters to be delightful and I was rooting for them to be together. All in all, I believe I was just looking for a little more love story and a little less every day life.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the opportunity to read Highland Sword. All opinions are my own.

Wonderful story that was a joy to read!! Well written and fascinating characters. A page Turner that needed to find out what happened! Full of adventures and surprises!

“Highland Sword” started off slow and I had to put this down 3-4 times before fully committing myself to read and to be honest, it didn’t exactly stand out. Sure I love the strong willed heroine who had a physical altercation with the hero within the first few minutes of meeting but due to the slow start of the story, tedious scenes, and dull side characters I was left unsatisfied. To sum it all up, "Highland Sword" was nothing to write home about.

Historical fiction of the 1820’s with the son of Queen Caroline of Brunswick, Cinaed the son of Scotland, and the radical war of change that comes to the Highlands. Against this background of spymasters like Sir Rupert Burney who will stop at nothing to twist the truth to send innocent men to their death comes the story of Morrigan Drummond who’s tragic past will catch up with her. It’s up to lawyer Aidan Grant to change that future though their first meeting of trying to kill each other doesn’t bode well. These are two strong characters who carry the story well with a good depth of real events running through the story. This is the last of a trilogy which ties the series up well.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Morrigan and Aidan meet at the beginning of the beginning of the book when Aidan stops Morrigan from murdering a witness he needs for his upcoming trial. The man is a traitor to Scotland and also Morrigan’s uncle. Aidan recognizes Morrigan when they meet later, but after talking with her decides not to tell others how he knows her. Throughout the book they grow close, but Morrigan has to overcome the fear of her past and the exposure of her past to be able to enter their relationship fully.
I am coming to this book without having read the others in the series. At times, I was confused and not as invested in the characters as I might have been if I had read the whole series. I loved how strong they female characters were and that the men in the book allowed them the space they needed (rightfully so). I felt like this book was heavy in plot and light in romance. That being said, the story itself was good, but I wish we would have had more moments between Morrigan and Aidan. If so, I would have bought into their love story a little more.

Fast paced, exciting, filled with adventure story. It draws you in and keeps you turning pages.
I can't wait for another book from May.

Aidan is just trying to protect a court witness when he stops a would-be assailant in an alley. To his surprise, the attacker is a woman. An intriguing, beautiful young woman. Morrigan has her own reasons for seeking justice, and she’s not about to tell a stranger about them, no matter how handsome and understanding the barrister is.
Once again, this was a lot of historical fiction and a little romance. But I enjoyed the story and the conclusion of this Highland trilogy.

I always enjoy it when an author takes some true historical facts and weave their own story around it! I love nothing better than to research those true facts afterwards and learn even more about history, my favourite subject:) This was a wonderful story to read and the author knows how to keep your attention from start to finish.
Morrigan (love that name!!) is quite the fierce warrior and wants nothing but revenge for what was done to her and her family in the past. Aiden is a barrister who is looking at getting into politics and when they meet, sparks fly....as well as fists! I don't think I've ever read about such a first meeting! lol The story takes place during the era when England has a hold of Scotland and the fight is on for their freedom, as well as peace. You will encounter corrupt government, danger, blackmail, backstabbing, and you will also encounter passion, love, loyalty and redemption.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
I had finished reading the two previous books in this series so was excited that the final book was here as I wanted to know how they were going to resolve the growing conflict between England and Scotland as well as see Morrigan's story.
I don't think that I have every read a book where the two main characters beat each other up first! There were times that I wondered how they were ever going to get their HEA, but their attraction kept growing and they did get there.
Lots of action, secrets revealed, and drama keep you reading on as it is hard to put the book down! I liked that there was some historical parts woven in to the story but not too much. This book was a great wrap up of all three couples.
