The Girl Beneath the Sea by Andrew Mayne is book one in the Underwater Investigation Unit Series and can be read as a stand-alone.
I read the blurb and had to give this book a try and I'm glad I did.
The story is intriguing, the writing is great and I read the whole book, cover to cover in one sitting.
I connected easily with the characters , and that doesn't happen very often.
4,5 stars.

This was the first Andrew Mayne book I've ever read - and what a corker it as! Underwater crime-fighting - is really the best way I can describe it. I do hope Mr Mayne writes more stories in this vein. It was a bit implausible at times but overall it's not a bad thing to have to suspend disbelief. The excitement really ratcheted up quite a few notches in the final third of the book...and it was well worth the wait. Highly recommend this book if you are tired of the ordinary run-of-mill thrillers and are looking for something different. My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
