Another cute entry in the Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! series.

Tiger is afraid of worms and that fear keeps getting in the way of things he should enjoy. Maybe the worms can teach him a things or two about challenging your fears?

A funny read that could be a good introduction to discussing fears.

What About Worms!? by Ryan T. Higgins is the latest entry in the Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! series. In this story, Tiger allows a fear of worms to interrupt all of their activities- from enjoying some flowers, eating an apple, and even reading a book. Of course Tiger has nothing to fear when it comes to worms, but fear prevents that lesson. This is a very cute and silly story that beginning readers are sure to enjoy.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC!

Spiders. Clowns. Fish. We all have things that creep us out, even if those fears seem irrational and senseless. In What About Worms, by Ryan T. Higgins and Mo Willems, a very Hobbes-looking tiger is TERRIFIED of…worms. Yup, a big, brave, fuzzy tiger is afraid of worms.

Written in Mo Willems’ familiar Elephant and Piggie style, this book will have your young readers cracking up, begging for a reread! The accompanying illustrations illuminate the wide range of emotions surging through the tiger, while the addition of the actual Elephant and Piggie characters cap off a truly meta experience (you’ll understand what I mean when you read it).

What About Worms is a must-add to any school, class, or home library!

This humorous book would be a great mentor text for K, 1st, and 2nd graders focusing on:
* Character Traits
* Using Illustrations to Build Meaning
* Author’s Purpose
* Themes: Discovery; Courage; Perspective
* Writer’s Craft: Onomatopoeia
* Social-emotional learning: Tackling Fears; Anxiety

This was such a sweet book that takes a fun twist. Tiger is terrified of worms, he’s scared of anything that may be associated with worms. A dirt may have a worm, there may be a worm in an apple, or books. You know worms love books. It was a sweet reader!

Our readers love Piggie and Gerald read books and I know they will love this one just as much. What About Worms is a hilarious story about tigers, worms, being afraid and misunderstandings. Give to students in K-2.
