This is something completely different then Mindy Mejia's previous novels I have read.
Strike Me Down is a spy time of thriller that definitely leaves you on the edge of your seat with suspense. I have to say that this was a super quick read and was a fun ride!
I loved how Mindy used kick ass female characters in this novel and plot surrounding martial arts! It' something different and unique that we don't usually see in our thrillers!
This was a fun one and recommend reading if you want a quick legal thriller!

An original read, which was well written, told in a way that gave you enough coverage of past/present and characters. My first book by Mejia, but not my last, as I can now see why she has so many plans. I loved the originality of this book, the way it was put together, making sure to grab my attention and not let go! And I loved that it seemed realistic, but still had plenty of twists and turns! A must read for any Mejia fans or thriller fans looking for something original and riveting!
Will make sure I buzz this book around!

I found this book to be an enjoyable mystery. However, I was not feeling much suspense and at times it was a rather slow read. It is a book, however, that I would recommend to others.

Forensic accounting is not a term widely used or generally known. Most of us could only make a wild guess. That will change once one has read "Strike me Down" by Mindy Mejia.
Simply put, the terms means the use of in depth accounting analysis to root out fraud, embezzlement or some other crime involving large sums of money.
In this novel, using female world class mixed martial arts competition as a theme, the author takes us on a roller coaster ride (as well as long walks through the Minneapolis downtown urban bridges) as the heroine and her team try to find 20 million in missing dollars.
Craftily written, we are kept on the edge of our seats ( or beds) as the analysis sifts through both financial and personal clues until a climactic finish.
One of few books which truly holds my interest.

Background: Nora Trier catches thieves for a living. She’s a forensic analyst at her Minneapolis firm. In her long career she has discovered millions of dollars all over the world. Enter Logan Russo, an anti-corporate, feminist kickboxing athlete, and her husband and co-owner of the Strike Empire, Gregg Abbott. These two are holding a major tournament for kickboxing athletes from all over the world when suddenly the prize money goes missing. Gregg turns to Nora’s firm to help locate the missing prize and the thief. What should be a routine investigation is turned upside-down by secrets from everyone involved...secrets that could turn deadly.

Why I liked it: I have read a lot of heavy topic novels in the last couple of weeks. This novel dealt with similar topics but in a lighter, easier read. Definitely something I enjoyed. The layout of this novel is also something different. It’s narrated by the two main character and switches back and fourth, but is also jumps time and is preceded with a topic header. I appreciated the layout because it makes the read easier to follow. I have found many novels who don’t let the reader know who’s speaking and unless the POV is distinct it’s hard to tell who’s actually narrating. Lastly, I found this book to be for the most part, predictable. There was one curve ball I didn’t see coming, but everything after that I had guessed prior to reading it. That being said, I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a great quick read!

A giant local gym, workout, kickboxing cooperation is about to kickoff the single largest fighting tournament in the Twin Cities. When the owners discover the prize money has disappeared they hire a private forensic investigator to find the 20 million. Mejia writing her third crime novel pens a stunner unlike any crime novel I’ve read in sometime. Big things are coming for Mindy. Great book great suspense novel/heist. Thank you for the early read. Pre order this book now.

Nora Trier brings down the bad guys. While it’s true, she doesn’t do wit with a gun and badge, her skills as a forensic accountant to uncover a ton of corruption. Then her firm is hired by Strike, a huge feminist corporation owned by Logan Russo, who is also a kickboxing star. When the prize money for a kickboxing tournament disappears, they need to hire the best in the business to find out where the money went. So, I didn’t know a lot about kickboxing and I have to admit, it’s really not my “thing”, but I like that Meija put two women in strong and atypical roles for her thriller
