A very speedy romance story.

Written as a quick read, this novella features Charlie, a woman who has been dumped by her boyfriend of seven years. Understandably reeling a bit in the aftermath, Charlie accepts an invitation to accompany her aunt on a guided holiday to Italy, hoping the Italian sunshine will cure her heartbreak.

Ok. I understand this was written as a quick read, and the tour only lasts seven days. But the love interest proclaims his love on day five. They have spoken to each other for maybe an hour. Maybe that doesn't bother most people, but for me that's ridiculously fast.

If you can ignore that part, or if it doesn't bother you, you'll find this a fast paced, charming, funny story. The author's note say that she normally writes crime and hasn't tried romance before, but I wouldn't have known. The writing is very smooth and assured.

A great read, if you ignore the instalove.

The concept of this book is interesting, however, the execution was poor.

1. I don't understand why this book was only ~100 pages - there was a lot more opportunity for a story with this idea.
2. The writing in this book felt a lot more YA than adult - I did not believe the main character was in her mid to late twenties the way she spoke or acted. The bad luck quirk she is cursed with came across more childish than funny; she brought a great deal of it on herself. It missed the mark for me. The writing also came across choppy with short unnecessary sentences
3. The romance was highly underdeveloped, and the ending came about so strangely and was completely unbelievable.

Even though this only took me an hour, I wish I hadn't bothered at all. Two stars only because I think the potential was there due to the concept of the book. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I think it's fair to say this book was not for me. I didn't connect with the writing style, which felt rushed, or the characters, probably because it felt rushed.

There were some nice elements and funny lines but as a whole this was just way too short.

What an adorable heartbreak to love, love story.
I didn't realize this was a novella when I started it but I think it could really make for a great full length novel; the bones are that good.
When Charlie's happy ever after turns into heartbreak, she is given the chance of a lifetime: a week in Italy. Through lost baggage, spilled food and stolen property, Charlies learns that life doesn't have to be boring, the sun shines again and again, and love is worth believing in.

This was a cute little novella that I read, as I love books that take place in Europe (especially Italy). I liked it but didn't love it. I felt like the novella ended without resolution of the main plot points of the story and it left the reader with a lot of questions. However, the books description and setting of Italy was beautiful and exactly what I was looking for in this short text.

Overall, this was cute and I took out of it the Italian setting that I was hoping for. However, I felt that the book ended in a weird place and was not resolved in a way that I was anticipating.

The Italian Cure is a fun, colorful story with even more colorful characters including the descriptions of Italy. I wish it was longer as this author is a good storyteller.

This was not exactly what I expected in terms of "touring" Italy, but it was a fun, east book to read. It is nice if you are stuck inside and just want something to read that doesn't require a lot of thought.

I didn’t realize that this was a shorter book when I began reading, but it was entertaining. The main character was funny and it actually would’ve been nice to have a longer book! Overall this was enjoyable.

Cute read but a very short read. Charlie has recently broke up with her boyfriend. Her aunt wins a all paid trip to Italy and she wants Charlie to join her. Not a bad deal for her. I enjoyed this short book liked that the main character did not dwell on her break up or felt sorry for herself. She was most focus in enjoying her trip in Italy. I wish the ending could have been more developed but overall not a bad read.

This is a very cute, quick read. I really enjoyed this novella despite it being quite predictable. I love Italy, and loved how much of it was included in this story. I also really appreciated that the main character didn’t spend a ton of time feeling sorry for herself. I enjoyed that she was more focused on enjoying the trip. I would have liked to have the ending be more developed, but overall it was a good read. It just ended really quickly.

Very light, very short novelette. Predictable, but written with warmth. I liked that the heroine was less about my-boyfriend-dumped-me, and more about embracing new adventures and new beginnings. The author’s love for Italy shines through, and the overall effect is an uplifting quick read.

Charlie is heartbroken after her sever year relationship comes to an end. Her aunt comes up with a brilliant plan to help Charlie through the difficult time she is having. The Italian Cure is a quirky story. The descriptions provided by the author make you feel as though you are touring Italy yourself. I enjoyed being immersed in the delicious food and scenery. Another thing I enjoy about this book is that even though Charlie has a few mishaps along the way, she keeps a great attitude and continues to be grateful for the opportunity she's given to be amongst all the life and beauty in Italy.

The Italian Cure by Melodie Campbell is a highly enjoyable novella that packs lots of heart and humour into precious few pages. Classified as fast fiction, I wasn't sure what to expect from this quick read, yet this has all the punch of a full length novel. A complete storyline, fully fleshed out characters, and lots of laugh out loud moments are all bundled into a small and rewarding package. I would love to read more from this author who was previously unknown to me. Thank you for this whirlwind trip through Italy!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Orca Book Publishers for this fun read.
