This book just wasn't for me. I didn't like the writing and the characters didn't have much of a personality I only read a little over 30% so maybe there was more development.

I wanted to like this book, I really did. Farah's writing style is engaging and fun and I LOVED the three women bonding over being tricked by the same guy. However, I just could not with the hero, his constant lying, his using of Samiah to the point of risking her job (even for a good cause) and his utter lack of a worthy grovel at the end. Samiah deserved way better.

Such a fun read!! This is exactly what I was looking for in a romcom after reading a lot of non-fictions recently.

I attempted reading The Boyfriend Project back in June, but ended up setting it aside. I'm so glad I picked this up and gave it a second shot as it was definitely my mood and not the book!

I dived in and read The Boyfriend project in two days. It was the just the kind of read I needed to escape from real life stuff right now.

I loved the way The Boyfriend Project started out, three women find out they were dating the same guy (who used all the same moves *eye roll*) and end up starting a friendship. I liked the unique meeting that grew into a strong friendship.

Samiah is strong and dedicated, and I appreciated the frankness in which she detailed what it is like to be a black women in the tech field. Daniel is a cute love interest, though I did have some issues with him at the end of the book. I'm not sure I could have gotten over what he had done and wish he had chose the other path. But that's just my feelings on the matter.

The romance between Samiah and Daniel was ok, the strongest parts of the book for me were the female friendships, Samiah's family and a strong black female lead.

I always love reading Farrah Rochon and this book doesn’t disappoint. I know that there will always be a strong, independent heroine and it was that way in this book with Samiah. The beginning of the book was hilarious and then her connecting with Daniel was better. They fought their attraction for a long time but love overcame everything. I also enjoyed reading about the challenges African American women face in corporate America and Daniel’s ability to sympathize/empathize with her. Very good book and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Samiah Brooks might just be my hero. Smart, sexy, super career focused and just all around an amazing woman who finds out her current boyfriend is cheating on her and gets her revenge in the most epic of ways. She meets two other women in the process and together they decide to focus on themselves instead of men for the next 6 months. Of course, in the meantime, super tempting, sexy man Daniel starts working at Samiah's company and sparks happen.

What I liked so much about this book, besides the banter, was that Samiah made no apologies for being who she is. She knew what she wanted and worked really hard to get where she was in life. Daniel respected that and was instrumental in supporting her to achieve her goals.

The only thing keeping me from giving this five stars is the deception. I won't go in to details but I have a hard time with deception in stories and I just kept yelling SAY SOMETHING. I fully get why the author chose to keep up the ruse but it made me a bit uncomfortable so I couldn't give the story five stars.

This book was so close to perfect and the best thing for a reading slump. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

I enjoyed reading this book.

Farrah Rochon is a new to me author, but I'm always on board to try new authors especially ones that bring diverse characters front and centre. And I've heard some great things about this author.

I'm really glad I gave Farrah a go because as I said above, I really, REALLY, enjoyed this book.

The characters were great, the story moved along well, and it was just a fun, uplifting, read.

Definitely one to add to your TBR.

I listened to this one, and I honestly don’t remember it enough to review. I don’t remember hating it, but I definitely didn’t love it.

Adorable! I love the characters. London, Taylor, and Samiah are newly found friends through a common embarrassing, very public, very viral, confrontation. With their new friendship comes new goals on how to better their lives or just make more out of their lives. Samiah a brilliant computer engineer has decided to finally go ahead and create the app she's been thinking about for the last year, meanwhile at her work a new employee catches her attention, but Daniel is not all what he seems.

It is a fun story with great female bonding and a nice romance. I can't wait for the next two books. Taylor is such a hoot. ARC provided by Forever Publishing and as always this review is HONESTLY and VOLUNTARILY given

Happy publication day to The Boyfriend Project!
(Note - I bought this last month from BOTM - no longer a member - and later was granted an e-copy from the publisher).
.
It’s not a secret that I’m a big rom-com and romance fan, so when I saw this as a selection I quickly grabbed it. And of course, it was one of my May reads! I kept looking for an audio version so I could read faster and then realized it wasn’t out yet ☺️
.
Overall, I enjoyed this book! I loved how smart Samiah was and how she really worked to stay at the top of her field as a Black woman working in STEM. As a character, she’s an amazing role model! I also really enjoyed her friends, Taylor and London and look forward to reading their stories! Loved the female relationships in this one.
.
What didn’t work (as well) for me - I actually really liked Daniel as a character, but I didn’t really feel his spark with Samiah. It all felt a little too instant love for me and while I enjoyed their banter, I wasn’t feeling their attraction for some reason. Now, take that with a grain of salt bc I’m super pregnant and maybe just not feeling the steam in general 🤣
.
I definitely enjoyed this one and it gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me. If you’re looking for a light and uplifting Black read, then this is definitely one to put on your radar!

There are books sometimes that it’s just so entertaining to read. THE BOYFRIEND PROJECT was one of those books. Starting off with a bang when our heroine discovers via a live tweet of a bad date that she’s been catfished by her boyfriend. Not only her, but also 2 other women. Their reaction to this goes viral and the bond that is formed between them spurs them into committing to the boyfriend project. Six months focusing only on themselves, no men, no dating. But that is quickly put to the test when Samiah has a sexy new co-worker at the tech company she works at. And he’s just hard to resist.

First of all, there are some things about this book that are not as common in romance books but done really well in this book. One of those is strong and successful female characters. Samiah, as well as her 2 friends Taylor and London, are smart and talented, with leading roles in their businesses. I love seeing that representation without making them bitchy. Seeing Samiah work through her dream of writing a new app was fun as well. And the other thing is female friendship bonds. These 3 women felt like REAL friends, you could take any real life experience between you an your friends and in some way get that feeling from their interactions. I really loved how the author was able to do that. Another thing I enjoyed was the tiny intrigue aspect of this story. Daniel, our hero, has ulterior motives and I was intrigued to see what he would uncover.

That being said, I think what this book could’ve done a little better was the romantic connection. While I liked Daniel and Samiah together, they don’t stand out so much to me as the perfect couple. I think in part that is because their connection felt a bit superficial. There’s more page time devoted to everything I mentioned previously and a little less on them getting to really connect. Now, that doesn’t mean they didn’t have some chemistry, or I didn’t like them together. But it could’ve been a stronger romance.

As I said before, I really liked the friends and I can’t wait for them to get their own books in the future. I’ll certainly be on the lookout for them and expecting them to also be a fun ride.

This book was cute, but didn’t really work for me. It didn’t grab my attention like I was hoping it would. The chemistry seemed forced and everything (I mean everything) happened in a quick way. There wasn’t a lot of build up. This one just fell a little flat for me.

The Boyfriend Project is a very fun romance. The book opens with the main character Samiah discovering via social media that the man she had been seeing was actually dating three women at the same time. This culminates with all three women discovering the same thing at the same time and confronting him at a restaurant. A video of the confrontation goes viral and all three women decide to become friends over their shared experience. They also make a pact to take the next 6 months to work on their own lives instead of dating.

At the same time Samiah meets Daniel, who is now working at the tech firm at which Samiah is already a tech superstar. She has a hard time remembering to keep the pact when she's around Daniel. At the same time Daniel has a big secret he's keeping from Samiah, but he can't help but be attracted to her.

Sparks fly, and things get complicated. The story is fun and sexy and the characters are interesting and have depth and diversity. I hope Rochon has plans to write stories about the other two women in the trio because I am already a fan of all three of them.

If you are looking for a romance, this book isn't really heavy on that, and honestly a lot of the writing related to the romance aspect was a bit odd. That said, I LOVED the way this book celebrated women of color and all women in general. It was cool to have the focus on such an incredible woman kicking butt in a STEM career!

I enjoyed reading this book, however I wish that the author focused more of the friendships between the three women and stayed true to the storyline’s title - the boyfriend project. I really liked all of the characters and the love interest was cute.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Book Review – The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon
I absolutely loved this read for so many reasons. I love the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) field representation in a romance book. So cool. The main characters are 3 Black women (Samiah, London, and Taylor) who are popping in every way possible.

I would highly recommend this on audiobook. The narrator, Je Nie Fleming, did an amazing job. Her voice was so soothing and fit the characters perfectly.

This book is so much fun and flirty, but it also touched on the importance of female friendship. I loved how Samiah, London, and Taylor embraced and supported one another, especially when it could have gone a different way considering the wild way they all met. I won’t spoilt it.

I immediately loved the main character, Samiah, soon after I started the book. She’s strong, independent, beautiful, hardworking, loyal and more. I would definitely be her friend lol. And Daniel..... *SWOON Such a great character, who is not only smart and fine lol, but has this mysterious touch. I felt the chemistry between them jump off the page at me.

If you’re a fan of Jasmine Guillory, you’ll like this book. If comparing, I like the writing and plot better than the wedding date series of books.

Overall, The Boyfriend Project is a nice romance that’s 100% worth a read. And the ending has me looking forward to the next book

What a fun read! This book follows our boss babe Samiah Brooks, a strong black woman working for a major tech company. Finding out shes been catfished and her boyfriend has been dating 2 other women was devastating. But instead of being broken, she rises up, ends up making friendships with these other 2 women. She goes viral over live tweeting a horrible date. The premise is super cute but I did feel like the main story took a back seat to a lot of the sub plot at times. Still really cute and enjoyable. We love a strong black female main!

The Boyfriend Project is an interesting title and that is what drew me to this book. I personally do no read synopsis because I feel like it gives spoilers away and I like to be surprised, so immediately when I saw the title I just knew , ooh this about to be good and I started my own assumptions to what the details of The Boyfriend Project would be.

It was the complete opposite of what I had in mind and it was great. The way Samiah, London and Taylor meet had me rolling, I could imagine that whole scene in my mind and I was all for it. These three ladies formed a bond and what I believe will be a lasting friendship for many years. I call this divine connection.

The situation with Samiah and Daniel played out differently than I expected, I enjoyed their flirting and how he was determined to not get involved with her , but as they say The heart wants what it wants. This was a great Rom-Com and I enjoyed it very much. I listened to it on audio and the narrator took it above and beyond, they kept me engaged, it was very relatable and I can see this happening in real life.
