There were a few editing hiccups with this, but my kids (almost 3 & 8) both really enjoyed this! My oldest is familiar with the original fairy tale, and he enjoyed the ninja changes. It held both of their attentions, and made us laugh.

The illustrations are great! I feel like they went perfectly with the text.

I really love the twisted fairy tales series, the art is beautifully done and I really enjoyed the gingerbread man as a ninja. I look forward to reading more in the series and this author.

A modern take on a traditional fairy tale. The ninja bread man is made from ingredients you would not normally use and the story starts from there. It has parts of the traditional tale but offer a version that is different. I like that the story was set in Japan and still had parts of the of the traditional including the ending with the fox, though there is a surprise. My daughter loved reading this book. A fun series to develop children imagination by using a traditional tale as a starting block. Thanks netgalley for letting me review this book.

I wanted to love this so much. It wasn't bad but it wasn't what I had built it up to be. All in all good story if not a little lacking on the storyline.

During this current time, I’ve taken to FaceTiming my grandkids stories at bedtime. Last night I chose The Ninjabread Man. My grandson loved the twist of the old fable and the excellent illustrations. Highly recommended.

This is a fun series, I'm really enjoying them! This stays pretty close to the original tale, with lots of mischief and mayhem, and a crafty fox who catches the ninjabread man at the end. Crafty fox doesn't get to eat him, however- his parents used way too much fiery wasabi when making the ninjabread man, and the fox can't take the heat, so the ninjabread man gets away. Bright, colorful artwork illustrates the story well, and adds to the fun.

Great spin on the original story and my little one throughly enjoyed reading about the ‘naughty’ gingerbread man!

This was my first time reading one of the Twisted Fairy Tales books, and it didn't disappoint. Absolutely hilarious how they created him with lemon, ginger, and wasabi.

This story is a great twist on the tale of the Gingerbread Man.

In this story, a man and woman want a child of their own. They speak to a fox, who gives them a recipe to make a ninjabread man. However, they don’t use the right amount of ingredients, so he is a mischievous ninjabread man who keeps running away from them.

I loved the Japanese setting in this story. It added some diversity to the story. It also put a twist on the story, because one of the ingredients for the ninjabread man was wasabi. That was an important part that gave it a surprise ending.

The illustrations were very cute. The ninjabread man was adorable, but he had a sneaky look on his face. He was quite a troublemaker.

I really enjoyed this story!

This was a precious fractured fairy tale! I loved how they used lemon, ginger and wasabi to create the Ninjabread Man. This will be a great addition to my fractured fairy tale collection in my library!

Reading this story was a ton of fun. The minute this kid jumped out of the oven, things got nuts. They were out of control, and not the most behaved kid. Yet their parents are eager to try and catch them before something awful happens. If you are a fan of the original story then you might want to check this one out.

Another goody from the Twisted Fairy Tale series. This is a hilariously weird one that involves an elderly ninja couple who want a young ninja in their lives and bake a gingerbread man at the advice of a fox..

Fairy tales are so weird.

The ninjabread runs amok and starts destroying things leading to a chase by the town.

How many fairy tales involve a threat of being eaten?

The Ninjabread Man is a part of the Twisted Fairy Tales series of children's books by Stewart Ross. It is currently scheduled for release on February 15 2020. Long ago, in ancient Japan, two ninja warriors had everything they wanted in life, except for a child. So they decided to bake one! Out of the oven leaped a speedy, sneaky, and brave Ninjabread Man who went on to cause absolute chaos!

The Ninjabread Man is exactly what you expect from the title of the book, a twist on the classic Gingerbread Man story. This is not the first, or I expect the last, version of the tale that uses the Ninja twist. I did like the illustrations, they were fun and bright, adding some humor and color to the pages. However, there were some grammar issues in the text and it just did not strike me is twisting the tale or making it fresh enough. It was a good idea, but not one that excited me or had me eager to recommend it to anyone.

If you want a child and are going to bake him, you had better listen to the instructions!

I really enjoyed this super cute adaptation of the Gingerbread Man. I hadn't read the Gingerbread Man since I was a kid and I had forgotten it existed until I read this book.

Thought this book was a fantastic twist on the classic gingerbread man tale. Great ending and new theme to the story.
I think children will really enjoy this story and find it very amusing, especially the ending! Basing it on an original tale makes it a familiar read for children. Infant children will enjoy having this read to them and juniors reading it themselves. I would say it’s ideal for 6-8 year olds. I will certainly be sharing it with the children in my class.
Thank you to netgalley, the author and publisher for having the opportunity to read and review this story.

My son really enjoyed this book with me. He loves Ninjas and he loves the original story of the gingerbread man. He loved the parts that made him laugh and asks to read it again!

I thought this children's book was really funny. A retelling of the Gingerbread Man, my class of 6 and 7 year olds found the idea of a ninjabread man absolutely hilarious. It cleverly kept the major elements of the traditional tale such as the cunning fox, but with witty changes. The ninjabread man has been made with too much spice, so he keeps running away, and nearly gets gobbled up by the fox! A quick read, and suitable for fluent readers to read alone at any age.

This was a cute twist on a classic story! My five year old loved the play on words, and laughed quite a bit.

The Ninjabread Man became an instant classic with my boys! They absolutely loved every page and have been repeating parts of the story to me for several days, after only reading it once. Also, now they know what wasabi is and not to taste too much of it, lol!
