Tea Cooper spins a tale filled with mystery and romance. I absolutely adore split time stories, so was immediately drawn into both stories. As a new to me author, I found Ms. Cooper's writing to be refreshing. While most WWI or post war historical fiction is set in Europe, I was enchanted by the Australian setting and the eclectic cast of characters that came to life under Ms. Cooper's pen. With excellent pacing, the clues are expertly woven together in a satisfying conclusion that left me eager to read more of Ms. Cooper's books.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Such an interesting story. I'm not sure I would have made some of the choices she made, but I loved reading her story.

I love stories like this that switch between two time periods! I find that they require concentration and keep my attention. This was a great story!

This story was cleverly done, switching between past and present while managing to not give away the resolution of the story. It was also an interesting examination of love and loss, moving on and finding meaning. Recommended!

As a historical fiction buff, this one is a must read. It provides a different look at the aftermath of WWI plus the interesting parallel story of Della. It was a bit slow to start, but worth the time invested!

This book is told in a dual time, a format I really like, but in this case I struggled a little at the beginning to keep all the characters and their connections straight. It was a short lived issue though, once I got into the flow of the story. The story alternates between 1918 with war widow Fleur Richards, traveling to Australia to find the family of the husband she knew just a short time before his death, and the year 1853, with Della Atterton, who works in rural Mogo Creek as a taxidermist. Della's creations are sold in her family's shop in Sydney, now run by her aunt Cordelia. When a handsome captain's hunt for Australia's first opal leads to the shop in Sydney, Della finds out Cordelia has turned the shop into a curiosity shop and there are some strange and disturbing transactions taking place. A female taxidermist and a curiosity shop are elements that perfectly contribute to the dark, mysterious atmosphere of this book.  The author lives in the area her novel is set in and she makes you feel as though you really are down under. At times, the story takes a tragic and dark turn, but its counter balanced by a love story. The author does a great job building tension as the two time periods converge and all is revealed.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased feedback.

As a historical fiction fan, I enjoyed this book very much. It takes place in two different eras in Australia which is a part of the world that I don’t read too many books about it. The story had intrigue family dynamics, social justice and a little romance thrown in too boot. It had a great twist in the end that I didn’t see coming

Overall, well written. You can feel the passion of the writer for her subject. I will definitely add her to my authors to watch for list.

This was a unique storyline that I haven't encountered before, but it was also a confusing one. I felt like I was halfway through the book before I even had a handle on who all the characters were. And even further into the book before I had any idea what the main plot of the book was. The two timeframes in Australia were a wonderful escape into history, but the stories just meandered along too much for my taste.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the eARC!

I have enjoyed this story because it is about the People who survived WWII and the impact on their lives. You also are given an historical view on a personal level that, as Americans, we do not normally receive. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a view of archaeology through these persons lives. Great character development which only makes you want to read more.. loved the story and the people.. Thanks for letting me read this early version

London 1918 and Sydney, New South Wales 1853
It's the end of the war. Fleur had married Hugh, but he hadn't returned from the fighting yet. She has a mysterious request from a solicitor to go to Australia as she has inherited her husband's estate, but she hasn't received a telegram and doesn't believe he's dead. She goes to Australia against her judgement and tries to learn more about what is involved. The solicitor there is away, and their records are in chaos after a move, so the mystery continues to unfold in slow layers as you get to know Fleur and the supporting characters. The story goes back and forth in time, revealing small bits at a time. It's told expertly to hold your interest and get the feel for the people. Great story, right to the end.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title

It started out slow but once I got into the story I was able to get through it fairly quickly.

There are great characters in this book, especially the lead character, Fleur. Although she let her emotions lead her at times when she should have waited for more information, her heart was always in the right place as she sought the truth about her late husband. I found myself quite interested in her story. I did have a little bit of trouble keeping up with the shifts in the book from one time/location to the next, and there’s quite a few characters to remember who belonged where. It all ties together very well, and I think readers who enjoy Christian historical fiction will enjoy this book. It’s set in a fascinating time period of history, and the main setting of Australia adds much to the storyline.

Thanks to Netgalley for offering this advance copy and for introducing me to a new author. Historical fiction is my favorite genre and although it was slow to get going for me, I liked this book, especially the two timelines which were well done, and had strong female characters, mystery and a tiny bit of romance. Some parts of the story felt contrived, didn't ring entirely true. But I liked the way the storylines linked.

I love works of historical fiction that are set in Australia because there are so few of them. I found this be interesting from a historical standpoint, especially in regards to the multiple viewpoints. I also found the layer of mystery to be an intriguing bonus to the already captivating plot.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary advance reader copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

While I liked this book, I found it hard to get into and it took me longer to read than it should have, it just wasn’t holding my interest. I am happy I kept reading because it was a good story overall, but at the beginning felt so disjointed.

Written from the unique perspective of two separate protagonists in two very different time periods, "The Woman in the Green Dress," gives readers a mystery that unfolds across time and generations.

In the aftermath of WWI, Fleur Richards received word of her new husband's death and a sizable inheritance in the Australia. Deciding to travel there, Fleur soon finds herself entangled in a sixty five your old mystery.
I really enjoyed this book. Admittedly I was first drawn to the cover of the book, but once I got into it, I found that it was a wonderfully written book that will draw the reader in and keep the reader engaged.

I struggled trying to keep the story straight. It kept moving back and forth without a lot of cohesion. I just didn't enjoy it.
The writing was decent and descriptive.

This was a delightful historical read, with an engaging female protagonist and an atmosphere filled story. I lost myself in this book and stayed up way to late just to finish (and it was worth it!).
