A big thank you to NetGalley and the author for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This got lost on my TBR list so this is way way late. For that, I am sorry as I truly enjoyed this book. It had some suspense and was intriguing. Cris and Jasmine had amazing chemistry, which is always fun to read. I would definitely recommend and I hope to continue the series. 4 stars

This was a pretty good book. The story was well paced. The main characters were really exciting to follow on their journey. I really liked both Cris and Jasmine. I hadn’t read this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was not disappointed!

I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. There were parts I liked and parts I hated in this book. Jasmine is a designer and Cris is wealthy businessman, it never really clear what he does he doesn't work on wall street but he makes investments and is in real estate. He is also part of the exiled sixth family of Italian mafia. His family left the mafia a century ago but they are still a part of that world. Cris and Jasmine meet at her fashion show, except Cris has been stalking her for months. Cris really pissed me off. I am all for a alpha Male, but he just came off as possessive with red flags all over the place. I liked the concept of the book and I will check out the next book in the series.

The book opens with Chris who is supposed to be part of the sixth family of the Mafia that knows one knows about. He has been watching fashion designer Jasmine King. Which when he got into describing it sounded like stalking but that is just me. Anyway, when she has a malfunction with her dress, he helps with it. There is the met cute.
He then gets her to agree to go out on a date with him and eventually they begin to spend more time together. Here is when the story changes for men are after him yet take her. You can figure out the rest. The action scenes are okay and when the two of them are together they are good as well. I found this to be an okay book maybe I was looking for more, but it was a quick read.

This starts is a decent mafia romance. I found myself a bit conflicted as the world that the author tried to build when it came to the "six families" of the NY mafia scene. It was a bit interesting that Cris and his families are removed and considered themselves the good guys.

The readers are first introduced to Jasmine and Cris at her fashion show. Cris doesn't hide the fact that he is interested in her. She is not looking for anything romantic. They are thrown together again at a dinner with her best friend and her husband. Jasmine discovers that Cris knows them as well and he was at their wedding.

Despite the creepiness of this, Jasmine and Cris start something up. Cris was straight obsessiveness at first which is kind of scary. He tones it down a bit as the story goes along but him and Jasmine have serious chemistry.

There is action and more detailed into the mafia life which I enjoyed. I did feel Cris moved a bit too calmly for him to have all of this drama. There should have been more protection for Jasmine. She was also with her head in the clouds about the kind of man that she was dating.

Not bad start to this series. Just needs to be fleshed out more.

I'm willing to read the next book in the series.

ARC provided to me in exchange for honest review.

Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion.

Loved the characters but the back and forth on where they stood in the relationship got old. The mafia involvement was good but could have been more accurate. Loved this book.

A promising start to the Brooklyn Brothers, Lace and Lies is an exciting read. A new to me author, Melanie Munton has delivered an engaging story with dynamic characters and interaction. I will be looking to read more of the Brooklyn Brothers and more by this author.

Lace and Lies by Melanie Munton is book One in the Brooklyn Brothers Series. This is the story of Cristiano 'Cris' and Jasmine. This series starts the stories of the Brooklyn Bothers who just by this book I can't wait to read more of the brother's stories with their large Italian family that happens to have connections with the mafia. Cris happens to see Jasmine at a wedding and of course he is taken with her and starts to lightly stalk her while working to get involved with her life and her career choice. Unknown to Jasmine of course so this is just one of the secrets he is keeping from her. Then when they do meet sparks fly but Jasmine is so consumed with her career she doesn't have time for a true relationship but they agree to encounters but of courser that isn't what last long. This does have some action scene since there is mafia/bad guys involved so it keeps you turning pages. Can't wait to read more for this series.

A good romance with a hot alpha male. I wasn't a big fan of Jasmine. There wasn't as much mafia to the story as I expected. I like the premise and will definitely read the next book. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and that made the book worth reading even more than the plot.

I loved this book had me hooked. Cant wait until the next book comes out. I hope to get an ARC copy of the second one. Characters were believe able and it had some great chemistry between them. An a few steamy scences, which fit right in the story.

Perfectly competent contemporary that ticks all the genre boxes, tall dark handsome hero, Cristiano is a rich, self made man, with a large Italian family with connections to the mafia, and all the fighting skills to handle himself. He spots Jasmine at a friends wedding, and is instantly smitten/ obsessed with her. He plots and plans and gets secretly involved in her plans to move to NYC and make it as a fashion designer, and secretly bankrolls/smoothies her way.

When they finally meet face to face, they have a strong case of instalust, and agree to be each other’s booty call, Jasmin is up to her neck in making her fashion line a success, and Cris has problems when the son of a mafioso Cris helped put behind bars comes gunning for him.

Can the no strings sex develop into something deeper and more long lasting, and will Cris confess his secret actions, before it’s too late, and also protect her from being caught up in a mafia backlash...

The characters were engaging and likeable, I am a little of tired of possessive overly protective asshole behaviour from Heroes, and there were a couple of touches of this, but not too many.

Enjoyable light read, with no surprises.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

Well, this was disappointing...
The premise of this book sounded amazing. Amazing! I was hooked!
Then I started to actually read it and I could not get into it. Nope. Not at all.
I even tried skipping around and that didn’t work either. *sigh*

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a decent "mafia" romance. Jasmine is an up and coming designer not looking for love when she meets the enigmatic, intense Chris. Their sexual chemistry is through the rough as Jasmine gives into their mutual attraction. I loved that Chris respect her work and lets her call on the shots on how far she wants to take things. I wasn't crazy about his random jealous outbursts but he cools down once she puts him in his place. This novel had the potential to be more if it wasn't for the poorly written mafia plot that was so far in the background that it did nothing for the story.
Overall, this couple sizzles with sexual heat and just for that it's worth the read.

This read was well-written but did not keep my interest. I honestly did not like the heroine, Jasmine. She spent most of the novel not really giving Cris a chance and avoided a relationship with him for no real reason. I felt bad for Cris and thought he deserved much more than her. Unfortunately, this is a read that I would not recommend.
