Sometimes you just need a good romance, family drama to get lost in. This is a good tale to take with you on a trip. Quick, easy and great characters. I enjoyed the family mystery. And yes I figured it out and you will too. But I did enjoy the drama getting there!
And I could just picture the view outside the cottage!
Need a quick, entertaining romance with a fabulous setting…this is it!

Another wonderful wholesome romance from author RaeAnne Thayne. In this genre you can always depend on RaeAnne’s stories to deliver.

Readers who enjoy women’s fiction by authors like Sherryl Woods, Robyn Carr, and Debbie Macombefr, among others, may want to add RaeAnne Thanyne’s novels to their reading lists. The Sea Glass Cottage is the first of her novels for me but I may well go on to look at others.

Protagonist Olivia (Liv), is called home by her mother’s illness. She is returning to a place with a peaceful name but her life there was anything but that. Now, Liv’s mother is ill, her sister who had a history of drug use has left behind a teenage daughter and Liv is called on to help.. How will Live, her mother and her niece cope? Will they become closer? Will they grow and find some happiness? Read this novel to find out.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

A highly anticipated read, I love RaeAnne Thayne and all her books. This one did not disappoint. Filled with secrets and disappointments it is a story about a family being able to rise above and come back together as a whole. Extremely heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time I absolutely loved this sweet read.

This was a good read. I felt like it could be a bit slow at times but feel like that may be more of my reading funk than the book itself. This book reminded me so much of how a hallmark movie would play out so if you love hallmark stories that have happy endings and are filled with second chances, this book would be a perfect fit for you.

The setting was awesome. My favorite was the fact that one of the main characters has MS. The bratty teenager grew on me. Overall a fun escape read with depth

I loved this one! Part of what I love about Thayne's books include the relationships between the main characters. This one is no exception. The relationship between the sisters is troubled, and it was so satisfying to watch them navigate that relationship. Watching characters that are flawed and have to work together to heal and move on always brings a tear to my eye. This one also has the setting on it's side. I love books set on the beach.

This is a lovely and emotional story and I'm so glad I had the chance to read it! The relationship between Liv and his mother is excellent - we really get the chance to see what happens when two people are reunited after spending so much of their lives apart.

This was a story about family and I'd highly recommend it to everyone!

Contemporary romance is my comfort food when it comes to reading these days, and RaeAnne Thayne is a new-to-me author. I thoroughly enjoyed her latest release The Sea Glass Cottage for her Harlequin Blog Tour, and I’m happy to share an excerpt from the book at the bottom of my post. Featuring three generations of women in the Harper family, each of whom are hiding painful secrets from each other, The Sea Glass Cottage follows them and those closest to the women as they deal with a sudden accident and recovery period for the matriarch of the family.

While grandmother Juliet is used to being independent and strong, running her own lawn and garden store while raising her often clingy fifteen-year-old granddaughter Caitlin, a broken hip after a fall from a ladder has her feeling helpless and out of control. Juliet’s estranged surviving Olivia puts her life in Seattle on hold to return to Cape Sanctuary, the picturesque tourist town that holds nothing but bitter memories for Olivia of her father’s untimely death in a fire and her sister’s overdose not long afterwards. Life was never the same for Olivia and her mother after their two loved ones perished so young and tragically, and especially since Caitlin was left behind with no one to care for her.

All three women have things to overcome: Juliet must heal from her accident and decide if she wants to move on with her friend Henry into more serious relationship territory while Caitlin is searching for her father. Olivia has been living in fear for a long time–fear of commitment in relationships, in her work, in making amends with her family. Coming home and temporarily taking over her family’s business is hard while she’s still running her social media side hustle, but being home and dealing with her family and these other responsibilities just might help her figure out her life.

Then there’s the men in the ladies’ lives. Juliet has Henry, who has grown to be her best friend over the last five years since his wife/Juliet’s good friend died of cancer. Henry’s son Jake is Caitlin’s best friend and partner in crime, while Olivia can’t stop running into her best friend Melody’s brother Cooper. Cooper has a long, tangled history with her family since he mentored as a young EMT with her father, but he was also her sister Natalie’s best friend growing up. Olivia did have a crush on Cooper when she was in her early teens, but he was too old to notice her. Does the handsome fire chief with a savior complex notice her now?

I give The Sea Glass Cottage a 4.5 out of 5. This novel was very honest, emotional, and raw at times, and the realness of it was amazingly refreshing. Focusing on overcoming their fears and past hurts, the family could start anew with much stronger relationships with one another. While the family drama was quite complicated and it spilled out into a few side characters, I really enjoyed every character in The Sea Glass Cottage. With a well-paced plot, a beautiful setting, and a great three-generation story full of mystery and secrets with a dash of romance thrown in, I highly recommend this book. And I’m definitely going to read more by this author. A big thank you to Harlequin for a copy of the book for the blog tour.

THE SEA GLASS COTTAGE is a sweet contemporary story full of love that’s perfect escapism. It helped me through a very rough time when I needed to think about another place. Even with all these characters’ flaws, this world didn’t seem as messed up as the one we’re living in now. I needed that hope of healing.

Olivia Harper witnesses a crime in Seattle where she lives, and berates herself for not being brave enough to help the woman attacked by a junkie. Staying inside her apartment with her comforting rescue dog is all she has been able to do for the last week. Can she come out of hiding and help her mom in her hometown of Cape Sanctuary, just because she needs her?

Oliva left Cape Sanctuary when all the sadness there became too much to handle. Her engagement made it seem like her life was back on track, until they realized they didn’t love one another. Can she go back to live with her mom and her deceased sister’s daughter, even short term? Can they survive the secrets when they’re disclosed?

These characters don’t make it easy for themselves with their misunderstandings, secrets, and stubbornness. But this story is all about forgiveness and moving into your next chapter, which makes it relatable and easy to understand why they do what they do.

An easy read in a comfortable small-town, this novel is perfect for relaxing with a cup of hot tea in your comfy chair. Early on, I spotted one of Thayne’s signature unusual words. She teaches me at least one new one with every book. I feel like I’m on a treasure hunt every time.

I especially enjoyed the garden center theme because it’s one of the many things I’ve done for a living that still has my heart. Once a gardener, always gardener – just a little slower but not less enthusiastic.

I appreciated the relevance of social media and how it can help good causes. The characters were likable, even the bratty teenager who realizes her assumptions may be off regarding her aunt. I was especially happy about the May-December romance that sparks throughout the pages. There should be more older couples experiencing a second chance at love in romance novels. I thought it was a great idea to have three generations experiencing different levels of love at the same time. It kept the book intriguing.

I was lucky enough to receive this book as an advanced reading copy prior to publication. It kept me occupied during a very stressful time, then I lost my ability to cohesively describe it. I’ve since read it again this month in order to write my review. Rarely a re-reader, I found this one just as enjoyable the second time.

Reading a RaeAnne Thayne book is like coming home to old friends. The details of her small towns are charming, even when the struggles her characters face are often overwhelming for them. The best part? Getting more than one happy-ever-after in varying ages is pure bliss in this story. Three couples will charm you, and dare we hope for a young love story in the future?

Available now in Hardcover, Audible, and digital format, SEAGLASS COTTAGE will release in Mass Market paperback in January 2021. Book two in this CAPE SANCTUARY series, THE PATH TO SUNSHINE COVE, is due to release in March 2021.

The Sea Glass Cottage by RaeAnne Thayne

This was the first book I have read by this author. She really did not disappoint me. It was a story of hope and love. She embraced family life and how complicated it can be. The characters were interesting and the secrets they shared told for a good story and a great ending.

A breath of fresh air this book was exactly what I needed!! Beautifully crafted characters that put you right in the book seamlessly! Relatable storyline that this author always seems to get perfectly! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Most of RaeAnn Thayne's books focus on the romance, the building relationship between the male and female lead, but this book is much more about the relationship between Olivia and her family, and isn't that the way is should be? Isn't it when we enter into relationships that exclude our loved ones (assuming our loved ones are healthy themselves) that we get into trouble?

As these family members deal with each other they learn to love themselves, and then others and I enjoyed cheering for them as they learned this lesson.

Thanks to the publisher for providing a review copy via NetGalley. Grade: B.

I have not had the time or interest to get through this book, unfortunately. I requested based on the author and would love to get to it eventually.

Olivia is trying to get over a traumatic event when she hears that her mother Juliet has fallen and broken her hip. Olivia immediately leaves the city to go back to the small town she grew up in. In addition to the trauma she recently suffered Olivia know has to deal with all the hard events of her past.

While there she also runs into her childhood crush, has to deal with a belligerent teenage niece as well all while working her own job and running the family business while her mom is recovering from her fall.

As always RaeAnne Thayne does a wonderful job with all of the relationships in the book and weaving them together. The characters are well written and definitely make you feel for them, as old wounds are healed and new relationships are formed or strengthened.

This book was sweet and heartwarming. It dealt with three women (daughter, mother, and grandmother). It explored their relationships and how one can heal after suffering loss, deceit, and devastation. There is an element of romance, which I appreciated. However it did take me a while to get into. And why I rated this at 3.5 stars. Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for providing this story in exchange for an honest review.

Oh how I love the writings of RaeAnne Thayne. She makes you feel like you could crawl into the story and sit down and talk with the characters. And I know I would have been friends with Olivia. She comes home because her mom “falls and can’t get up” (sorry I had to).... And so did Thayne (it’s in the book, I swear). Olivia has to take care of her mom and her now teenage niece and also has to deal with her own issues.

This story is about family and coming to terms with all the feelings and secrets each of them keep.

This is a great book to sit down to read and just fall into. As are all of Thayne’s books.
