Grace Summer left the streets of Liverpool, her thriving business, all the violence, the whole gangland scene and went to live in the country to devote her time bringing up her baby daughter Belle. But now she is back , after finding out her beloved son Jake is now running the business and rumour has it is having plenty of trouble, and boy is she back, and there is plenty of trouble, shed loads of it ….she soon gets in to the life she turned her back on........Oh my goodness what a book!! This is a follow on to The Boss (which was brilliant), but I think this is even better. The different story lines, the characters were so well thought out. The Carter family are always a pleasure to read about.
A violent, ruthless, gritty, 'no holds barred' kinda book. Just fantastic. Caz Finlay you have the makings of a serious crime writer....keep them coming, I just couldn't put this book down. Can't wait for the next one . Well done! Highly Recommended. Thank you to netgalley for the privilege of offering me this great read.

Any book that claims to be one for fans of Martina Cole grabs my attention. This is my first book from Caz Finlay, so I feel I should read the first book too.

Grace Sumner has turned her back on the underground Liverpool gangland scene, determined to raise her baby daughter Belle away from a life of crime, skullduggery and killings. She was the boss once, but now just wants to live a normal life away from it all and has moved to Leeds.

Grave then learns that her oldest son Jake has managed to get himself mixed up in a life she hoped he wouldn’t, completely in over his head, Jake is out of control and needs reigning in before he ends up dead. Grace, who will do anything for her family, comes out of her early retirement and is back into the life she once left behind. Can Grace save Jake? Can she go back to a life she wanted nothing more to do with?

What I loved about this book was the interaction with characters, it has crime, murders and all you expect to be associated with gangland life, but it also has a story of family and love in the background and oddly the two intermix really well to make this a great read!

Back In the Game is the follow up to last years book The Boss. While gangland crime novels aren't my favorite genre this was a really good book. Lots of twists and turns, violence and drama.
Many thanks to netgalley, Caz Finlay and One more chapter books for the arc.

The 2nd in this series from an amazing author who is fast taking over from other gangland crime authors. This book is flawless from start to finish. Exceptional characters and just the right amount of treachery to be thrilling without being simply gory. Eagerly waiting for the next instalment.

After reading Caz Finlay's debut novel 'The Boss' I was eagerly awaiting the next part of the series And what an addition Back In The Game is! If it is possible I thought it was even better then The Boss. I love the way the characters and relationships have developed.
Grace is a tough no nonsense woman and when she returns to Liverpool she is determined to sort things out. She loves her family and will fight with every breath in her body to protect them. In a world of violence, betrayal, and family she is a fierce opponent for anyone who tries to take her crown as queen of the underworld.
Caz Finlay is an outstanding writer in one of my favourite genres, she is a new voice in this area of writing and is definitely one to watch I am for one am really looking forward to see what she writes next.

Book 2 in this amazing series. It was great reading this book, I read and loved the first book The Boss. So I was really eagre to see where this book would go.
A brilliant Gangland crime read that will be up the charts in no time, Caz Finlay deserves her recognition as being one of the best, writers of Gritty Gang land crime.
These books are going to do well and I can't wait to follow the characters on their journeys.
From the first page to the very last, I wanted and needed to read, I wanted to know what was happening, this book had mad me gripped.
Grace Sumner is back, and boy is she needed. It doesn't take much to get her back in to the Liverpool Underworld. Her son had been running things, its pretty clear he's not really up to it and it's now down to Grace to get things back on track.
Grace has also been keeping a big secret and Its not long before this secret comes out, but will she be forgiven.
I know this author has another book out. I think it's August 2020 and I really can't wait for it.

I read this book not knowing that it was the second in the series. However, I absolutely loved the book. I have now purchased the first book and will be reading that shortly.

The novel is full of violence, crime and disaster - everything that the perfect gangland novel should have.

The book was gripping and I really enjoyed it.

Gangland crime at its best. Gripped from the first page til the last. You can’t put this book down. Twists on every page.

The next book in The Grace Summers series and just as gripping as the first one and from the end, it sounds like this could be the final book but I picked up a few hints that the story isn't done yet. I got this as an arc and would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review and the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased.

Having read Caz Finlay's first book last year called the Boss I couldn't wait to read the follow up..
I certainly wasn't disappointed. Grace Sumner having returned to Liverpool was once again drawn into the crime and violence that surrounds her family and friends. but certainly not through choice.
This is a book that grips you from page one and continues gripping you right to the very end.
Caz is now one of my favourite crime authors and I cannot wait for the next book in the series due out in August.
Five stars from me and cannot recommend this book enough

booklover BEV

The second book by this author set in the Liverpool underworld, Grace Sumner lives in the sleepy village of Harwood Leeds living the quiet life and gets a call from Liverpool about her son Jake running his fathers nightclub the blue room. She didn't want to go back and had her daughter Belle to think about, her son was been a fool and she couldn't ignore this. Even though she will have to face the Carter's she had a well kept secret that will eventually come out. Oh boy I loved this book, I loved The Boss but this was twice as good, so much action going on. This author knows how to pull you into all the characters, some you either like or hate. Full of twists and turns and secrets unfold, and right through to the end that makes this book just perfect, nothing more I can say, but pick up and read it.

Grace is trying to live her life with her baby daughter, Belle, when she gets a call that her son, Jake, has taken over the businesses she left behind and is getting out of control. Grace slides into Jake’s business on the pretence of being bored so she can keep an eye on him. Soon old adversaries think that Jake and Grace are open game! Can they survive the torment of violence they are facing?
This is the second book in the series and now I have finished it I am going straight to read the first! It was gripping, violent and definitely up there with other gangster crime titles! Absolutely loved it. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
