I am not sure if it is me or if maybe the author is suffering from 'formula'itis. I knew going into this that it was an interconnected series so I read all four in one go. It became obvious that she put very little work into them. IT felt like each was a repeat of the last, with minor things like names, professions and such changed. I am curious enough to want to know the major secret and the answers to all the questions about Alonzo but I am not sure that Rock can pull the tie off off. I think her plot eyes were bigger than her literary stomach. I hope she can give them a good resolution but I doubt it.

This story was easy to get into. The main characters Gage and Elena, were very likable and had a lot of chemistry. Since this was the first book that I read in the series, I was little co fused with the Alonzo Salazar plot.
Thank you for the ARC. This was my honest review.

In book 4 of the Mesa Falls series, Joanne Rock uses the second chance at love angle. This is the first Mesa Falls book I have read, however I managed to keep up even though it seems there is an over arching mystery and characters. Heartbreaker is a fast read, enjoyable, and entertaining. Based on this read, I would seek out the others. The settings were detailed, the characters engaging, and the story itself well plotted.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

Elena fell in love with Gage years ago, but they let secrets and misunderstandings come between them. She has just ended a disastrous marriage and is trying to pick up the pieces and what better way to reinvigorate her career as a social media influencer then by attending a high-profile gathering Gage is hosting.

Gage believes that Elena betrayed him so when she arrives his first instinct is to have her escorted off the premises, but he decides that keeping her close and controlling the information she releases to the public would be a better course of action.

As they spend time together the chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever, but will they be able to overcome the misunderstandings of the past as well as the secrets in the present.

Gage and Elena have always belonged together and it is finally their time. There is a great cast of secondary characters and I am looking forward to their stories as well.

4.5 Stars

This is the fourth book in the Dynasties: Mesa Falls series by Joanne Rock in the Harlequin Desire line of books.

A funny thing happened on the way to writing this review. Surprisingly, I had not one ARC but two different ARCs with the title Heartbreaker. How ironic is that? And being that it is super close to Valentine’s Day, I figure there is a reason for this naming convention. ;) But I digress. I thought I was reading this book. And I tracked my reading on Goodreads then I was about to write the review and as I read the description, I suddenly realized this was not the book I thought I was reading. So, as quick as an Easter rabbit, I pulled this book out and read it up, hippity-hop.

Basic premise: These two characters have been a couple before. Six years ago to be exact. Elena was a young influencer and she showed Gage how important social media could be to his enterprise. His father tried to buy off Elena and get her out of his son’s life. Elena couldn’t deal and thus left. Gage chose to believe his father and his father never bothered to tell Gage the whole truth. Now six years later they meet again and Elena has just gotten out of a crappy marriage and is practically destitute. She is after the story about Gage’s mentor and she would probably find out about their friend who died under suspicious circumstances when they were young.

I found this story quite captivating. I like being able to see both people’s points of view since sometimes the characters are thinking along different lines and with totally different brains. Gage is the logical one who has loved investing since a child. He has even far surpassed his own father’s wealth. Elena is more creative. I loved the part where she created her own clothes and was on the way to becoming a true fashionista.

I did feel like one storyline thread got dropped and I really wanted to see it get fulfilled. Gage introduces Elena to a very popular girl who seems to have it out for Gage and his friends. That thread went no where. I assume this will be picked up in another book in the series. So I better keep reading along if I want to know the whole story, right?

Totally digging this. Great guilty pleasure read and it also engaged my suspense loving brain too. A win on all sides.

If you love a good romantic suspense, you have to check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Thank you to Joanne and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It had lots of drama, passion and the characters are well written. I like the story line of reunited lovers. There past gave the story some great moments mixed in with the new memories that the hero and heroine are putting that passion of the past into the present. I really liked Elena Rollins character. Even thought she was hurt by Gage Striker in the past she didn’t let that get in the way of her goals to be her own person and stand up for herself. She reinvented herself and became a strong woman. The attraction with Gabe and the passion is still there as their relationship goes into a new dynamic. Gage let his father sway him for what he really felt for Elena and he didn’t let Elena explain what had happened in her past. But when they meet up again, Gage learns the truth and shares what being at the Mesa Falls Ranch really means to him.

This is a great series and I can’t wait to read other books in the series.. Well done Joanne Rock.

“Heartbreaker” is part of the Dynasties: Mesa Falls miniseries by Joanne Rock and features Gage Striker and Elena Rollins. When we first met them in “The Rival”, you just knew they would be combustible together.

After being apart for six years, the chemistry is still there, but neither have any intention of giving in to it. Gage needs to make sure Elena doesn’t find out the truth about Alonzo Salazar, while Elena is focused on reestablishing her social media career. Gage and Elena’s past, and the mistrust that came with it, threatens to come between them and stop them from finding their happily-ever-after the second time around.

“Heartbreaker” gives little insight into the background of Alonzo and the owners of Mesa Falls since we already learned the secret they are keeping (or have we?). It also introduces a new character, and a new scandal, the owners of Mesa Falls Ranch will have to face next.

Heartbreaker by Joanne Rock is a continuation of the Mesa Falls series. This time, readers get to the bottom of the secrets, scandals, and romance of the ranching cowboys. Their family is mysterious and definitely hiding things...and with each book Joanne Rock delivered a bit of information. Piece by piece, and yet I'm still dying for more.

Heartbreaker is both a sad and charming read. I fell in love with the cast of characters. A tabloid columnist and a sexy rancher make for the perfect pair. Both have their issues. Elena had to deal with poverty and bad relationships since she was young. Gage dealt with a loss of his best friend and his overbearing father. Then, the loss of Elena. But now, fate has sent them back together, and it might just be their last chance at love.

I loved the humor, the passion, and the emotional rollercoaster ride that Joanne Rock created. These characters felt so real. When the book ended, I felt like I lost my bestfriends. Mesa Falls is the place to go-aka-the series to read! The heroes and heroines are the best. I have fallen in with them from the beginning, and I cannot wait for the next thrilling adventure.
