This memoir was such a captivating read full of great themes. We follow Bobi and her life living in a remote Kentucky holler in the 1980s Appalachia. It was raw and poignant and written well. You really got to get a look at her life and what she went through growing up. This deals with a lot of dark themes such as substance abuse, violence, and self-loathing. This is a great raw look at a coming of age novel.

Did not enjoy this book at all. Had to force myself to finish it. The subject matter could have been compelling but the writing style was horrible.

Beautifully told. An excellent memoir of how to overcome a terrible childhood and thrive. I love reading these types of memoirs because these women are the role makers we should look at. Pick up this well told story and cheer for Bobi as she navigates a hard childhood and watch her thriumph showing everyone that with hard work and just plain stubbornness you can overcome anything. Happy reading!
