DNF - I don't like to write reviews for books I don't finish, but since it is required I will just put one star. It wasn't bad, just was not for me! This would be great for a different audience.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I do need to recheck my TBR lists, because I had this book under my M/M category. So, when I discovered that Sin was actually a woman I was a tad disappointed. But that is totally my fault, so I rearranged my mindset and read this book without thinking about my mistake. That didn’t make it any better, though.

From the slap to about 60% of the story, we are in front of a hot mess that made me so angry, that I was ready to throw the book into the fieriest fires of Hell and move on. Sometimes I should force me to quit. That would be more fair for everyone, but I just can’t. You never know when a book is going to change its course and wow you. The biggest issue I have with this one is Jake himself and how the cheating episode is treated. The “I love you so much so I cheated on you as a wake-up call” crap, or the “You are the coward for not figthing for us even though I was pounding your roommate” bullshit and other shameful and disgusting comments that put Jake in a position of being the bad guy and not the hero. But he is treated as the latter way sooner than emotionally healthy, which makes Sinclair look like a weak person who is easily seduced. Where is that woman who has steeled herself against Jake? That shell melts waaaaay too fast for my taste.

Thankfully, the book gets slightly better when Jake’s behaviour changes abruptly. He goes from blatantly consider himself the victim to own his mistakes and try to make amends the good way. Maybe it is too little, too late; but at least it makes the final push somehow bearable. Sadly, the book also lacks in closure. I’m not talking about the romance, that is tied with several jumps forwards. I’m talking about the other details that were dropped and never had proper development: the evil mother-in-law, Trina’s intentions, Jake’s illegal deals… All of those things could have an impact in the relationship between Jake and Sinclair, so I do not like that they are discarded without further explanations.

I wasn’t too sure how I would feel about Sin and Jake.
You find out from the very beginning that they broke up 4 years ago. Several chapters include flashbacks that give you a glimpse into their past. I really would have liked to read the actual moment that tore them apart in one of those flashbacks. But they talk about it so much, I guess the author didn’t feel it was necessary.
Both Jake and Sin made mistakes in their past but Jake is ready to go all in the get Sin back. By the end, you might be all in, as well.
4 stars.

A Second Chance Romance set in Sin City, M. Jay Granberry gives you a love that is broken when chance steps in can it be repaired?
Sinclair "Sin" and Jake went their separate ways in college breaking Sin's heart and creating the woman she is today. Jake has thought about her often and really wants the opportunity to make it up to her not knowing if that will ever happen!
Great Book!

A debut book that pleasantly surprised me. This is the story of the second chance that follows the story of Sin and Jake, two people who were everything to each other, but one bad decision set them apart. They meet after four years and all those repressed emotions make them wonder if it's all over or their apparent love is strong enough to overcome all the obstacles, sadness and pain.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this opportunity, I enjoyed in this story and in my opinion this book deserves 4 stars.

This was a well written slow burn romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I thought that the story was told very well and the detail was great - the author had a great descriptive nature and I could picture all the surroundings as I was reading. The characters were well developed too and I thought that they worked well together with come cracking interaction!

I was pleased to find that this was the first book in the Sin City Tales series and I will be looking out for the rest of the books in the series now.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, I thought it was a well developed and well written story that had me hooked - very highly recommended!!

Sinclair unwillingly returns to Las Vegas, a place where she experienced the truest form of love and then the most devastating lash of heartache. It’s been four years since she saw the man responsible for both, but Vegas is a well populated city and the odds are she won’t run into Jacob Johnson. Unfortunately, the odds aren’t in her favor. When her initial reaction doesn’t play well to the public, she finds herself once more in Jake’s presence and this time he’s playing to win.

Jake once had everything his heart desired, but insecurities and long separations had him making a decision that had unforgivable repercussions. Now, with Sin’s return, he’s determined to amend the wrongs of the past but in order to do so he has to tear down the walls that she’s constructed around her heart. Convincing her to speak to him, much less spend time with him, is an obstacle he sets out to overcome.

This couple were incredible! With flashbacks of their time together we see the all-consuming need Jake had to make Sin his own, the love these two shared, the struggles they experienced and then the deepest cut to their relationship. Written with such depth and intensity, the emotions these characters felt enveloped me from the first chapter until the very last page, showering me in all their brokenness, giving me glimpses of hope before snatching them away again. I wasn’t sure if I could survive until the end.

Complementary copy given for honest review.
This is one of the best second chance romances that I have read. It was raw and real. I couldn’t put it down.

Wow Wow Wow!!! This is one of the best second chance romances I have read in a long time. Jake and Sin are hot. I love the fact that Sin did not just give in and fall for Jake right away. She made him work for it and made him show her that his love for her was real and what he did previously should not divine who they are going forward. I am excited to see where this series goes and I can not wait to read about Adam and Seth.

Thank you to netgalley and M. Jay Granberry for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The blurb of this story drew me in followed by the cover. Las Vegas is my favorite city in the US which means I tend to gobble up anything that is written about it. So often, the books tend to gravitate toward the "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" mantra but this book isn't one of them. I am in awe that this is the first book from this author. The writing was extraordinary. I am talking sublime. From the first word to the last, I was HOOKED.

Everything this author wrote, I felt on a visceral level. The betrayal, the heartbreak, the conflicting emotions, the uncertainty, and the passion. Good Lord, did I feel the passion. Even though some people tend to look unfavorable about a certain thing that happens in this book that Jacob does I think and it is a hard limit to read for them, I think that needs to be looked past. I can say this even though I have personally experienced it just as Sin did because not everything is black and white. It shows that as humans we are fallible. It is what happens when it is time to atone for making mistakes. In my opinion, this past transgression enhances the story because sweet lord, if there were ever two people who deserved this chance it is these two.

There were fantastic secondary characters, (I need Conner please) an outstanding foundation and storyline that allows for future growth, and chemistry galore. The steam was hot but didn't overpower this amazing story. Basically, in a nutshell, this book was one of the reasons that I love reading. Finding a new author and a book that connects is what makes reading magic.

I did like this book. I liked the story but it did take me some time to get into this story.

I know some people who will enjoy this one more than I did so I have recommended it to them.

This is the second book I've read from this author and I loved it as much as I did the other. Sin and Jake has a past of hurt, regret, betrayal, love and much more. However the one thing that is undeniable between them is their chemistry and the love they have for each other once Jake knocks down the walls Sin has built around her heart. I loved that these characters weren't perfect, they definitely made mistakes and that made their story feel real. I loved the characters of Sin City and I can't wait to read more of their story. I will be recommending this series to my book loving family and friends. This is a story worth reading!
