Summer Secrets by Jill Sanders is book three of the Wildflowers series. Great book and love the concept of an adult summer camp. Very enjoyable read!

Heavy on the romance with some romantic suspense!

Hannah Rodgers and of her friends called the Wallflowers inherited a dilapidation summer camp so they decided to fix up the space as a summer camp for adults. The reopening of the camp had been at a perfect time because she needed get away from her parents and the running of her life. Owen Costa and his brothers are still looking for their dad and the missing money from the family investment company with Owen named as president temporarily while still helping at the summer camp with his brothers occasionally.

Hannah liked Owen when she first met him and now that her friends were getting serious with his brothers, she realized that Owen was much more than she thought. Hannah and Owen start to fall in love and with everything else that is happening and their love isn’t smooth.

I liked where each of the books in the Wildflowers series adds more to the story when each of the Wildflowers falls in love and I’m looking forward to reading the next book about Scarlett.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I realized mid-read the Summer Secrets was the third book in a series that I had never read, which would explain why I experienced some difficulty connecting with the characters early in the novel. While I enjoyed watching their love story come together I could tell that I was missing relevant information important to their story which may have been covered in previous books.

I have enjoyed this series so far. However, this story I struggled with. Even though I knew the characters from the previous books, this one would have been farfetched to be read as a standalone. As I mentioned, each book of this series is about a different couple but I felt like had I not read the other books then I would have been even more lost. There is a slight recap of how everything came to be but it still was hard to put the pieces together, not only as of the previous history of Owen and Hannah but in regards to the mystery of Lee Costa and the Wildflowers gang. When everything falls into place between these two it is fire because these two did have steam.

I would still read this book but I am glad that I had read the others first. I am still curious about where this series is going to go next.

4.25⭐

The Wildflowers are back, and Summer Secrets sets a whole different tone, as unlike the previous stories this one picks up after Summer Heat ends, with Owen having left Hannah, and his brothers at River Camp and returned to Destin to take control of the family business, whilst dad Leo remains missing. And for me, it truly was an enjoyable story, that although a little slow to start, soon picked up and became a fast-paced, engaging read, particularly as the mystery surrounding dad Leo's disappearance was finally resolved.

Plus with plenty of character growth and an enjoyable, sweet romance between main characters Hannah and Owen not to mention lots of time spent with the rest of the Wildflowers I was easily entertained; and I'm certainly looking forward to reading more from this series in the future.

Would happily recommend.

Though this gets off to a rocky start, it finds its footing along the way. I cannot recommend it as a standalone - there are just too many references to the overarching storyline for that - but fans of the series will enjoy seeing the final brother get his HEA. While this did get better as it went on, I'll admit to feeling like I missed out on them falling for each other. Owen and Hannah's relationship was touched on in the previous books, but here it's summarized in a few pages during the prologue, then the story takes a different direction. To me, the falling is the best part of a romance, so feeling like I missed that put a major dent on my enjoyment. Owen also makes an offhanded comment early on in the book that tarnished my opinion of him and would've caused me to DNF the book had I not committed to reading an ARC. That being said, things got better as they went along and I was happy to get some answers about the overarching mystery.

The story follows Hannah, the co-owner of an adult summer camp, and Owen, a wealthy guy who spent months concealing his true identity while working at the camp. They started to fall for each other, but when Hannah revealed that she still has her v-card, Owen got skittish and bolted without looking back. A few months later, and they come face to face, both wanting to rekindle what they started. The only difference is that now things are out in the open - Hannah knows about Owen's wealth, and Owen knows that he'd be doing an injustice to Hannah by just starting up a casual fling.

This series has been shaky for me - I didn't love the first book, but I was invested enough in the mystery to read the second. The second was good enough to have me picking up this one, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I can't see myself continuing on with the series if there are more books. The writing isn't strong enough to overcome the deficiencies in the plot, so the connection isn't there. Please note that there is some triggering content in this, but it's not the focus of the book. I received an ARC via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

SUMMER SECRETS is the third book in the “Wildflowers” series by Jill Sanders. Since some of the things referenced in SUMMER SECRETS happened in previous books, it’s a good idea to read this series in order. The Costa brothers initially stake out a summer camp run by a group of girlfriends, in hopes of finding their father who has made himself scarce. Eventually their real identities and intentions are revealed to the women and each brother falls in love. Owen Costa and Hannah Rodgers have an intense attraction soon after they meet, but Owen’s deception and their complicated family and relationship histories make them somewhat wary of getting involved in any kind of long-term romantic entanglement.

I feel like Jill Sanders keeps much of the focus in SUMMER SECRETS on the constantly evolving romance between Owen and Hannah, but there is lots going on in this book in addition to the love story. This book is told from alternating perspectives to give the reader a better understanding of the two main characters. Hannah learned to be self-reliant at a young age because of her parents’ selective cool detachment. Their focus when it came to Hannah seemed to be in marrying her off in some way that would be socially or financially beneficial to themselves. They kept a close eye on her but seemed to only care about her movements for self-serving motives. It’s ironic how Hannah never sought a man specifically to please her parents but, ironically, Owen is exactly the kind of man they would want for her. With their parents not around, this couple gives in to their attraction and feel free to just be themselves. The time spent getting to know each other better includes plenty of sexy times along with deep conversations. As they work together, and individually, to solve the mystery of the corporate sabotage at Owen’s company, it gives one more thing to draw Hannah and Owen together.

SUMMER SECRETS is a thrilling mix of mystery and romance. I don’t normally enjoy romances with a lot of action and suspense, but Jill Sanders does a wonderful job of balancing that with the relationship building. I like how Jill Sanders leaves the identity of the criminal mastermind ambiguous. You’re not sure if it’s psycho ex- camp employee Ryan Kinsley, someone else, or if Ryan is in cahoots with some unknown person. The mystery and romance mix, and perfect tension gives this story a modern Hitchcock film vibe. I look forward to reading more books by Jill Sanders in the future.

I didn’t realize this was the third book in the series so I missed a lot of the back story. Still, I was able to catch up with the gist of the background and enjoyed reading Owen and Hannah’s story. This was basically five childhood friends who met at camp and later, as adults, bought the camp and set it up as an adult camp. Add three brothers who become romantically involved with three of the friends, and each book focuses on a pair.

I liked the mystery of who was threatening Owen’s position in the family company, although I figured out who it was fairly easily. It was funny to see how the camp was run at first, and the changes they had to make when the guests were being a bit wild in public spaces.

I was given an ARC of this book courtesy of the author via NetGalley.

Book 3 in the Wildflowers series.

Hannah is trying to keep her camp/resort open on a shoestring budget. She and her friends have in vested everything they have into this venture. Thank goodness that she was able to hire the Costa brothers so cheap! But the brothers have a secret reason for being there...they are looking for their father, who disappeared months ago and hasn't resurfaced yet. Their only clue is a note on his calendar to meet with Hannah.

Owen Costa is in trouble. He is trying to find his father, run their family empire, and work at River Camp. Plus, he is fighting an attraction to the very woman that he is trying to investigate., Hannah Rodgers. Pulled in too many directions, he retreats from the camp just as Hannah is getting close to him. Will he and his brothers discover why his father was meeting with Hannah? And will they be able to bring him home safe?

Jill Sanders writes easy to read stories with some surprising plot twists that will keep you on your toes.

I am so in love with this entire series! This is number 3 in the Wildflowers and I highly recommend to read the other 2 as well. I feel like you won't get lost even if you start with this book. Hannah Rodgers and her 4 best friends have opened up an adult summer camp and Owen Costa and his brothers have managed to get hired on to look for the father behind the scenes. Owen is the eldest and tries to tame down his feelings for Hannah, while Hannah tries to steer clear of her overbearing parents trying to marry her off for a business merger. Someone is trying to threaten Owen and his family business and then it starts to affect Hannah and the Wildflowers.

This is book three in the Wildflower series. It’s the story of Hannah and Owen. Hannah, with her four friends, run a adult summer camp. Where Owen and his brothers came to work, under false last names. But soon they found out that the brothers were looking for their missing father. In this book, Hannah and Owen grow closer. With threats and dangerous things happening, they try to find out who is behind it all.
I really enjoyed this installment of this story. I read book two, Elle and Liams story but haven’t read book one. This book was written well, and kept you interested. The beginning was a little confusing as it was sort of recalling what the characters went through in the previous books, so a person might be confused if they’d not read them. But over all it was a really good story and the characters where likable, and believable.

Finally the reason of the why Leo Costa has disappeared has arrived. Unlike the last two books of the series, the story doesn’t over lap much but moves forward through time with Owen and Hannah with a slight background on how their relationship progressed. The suspense and intrigue are so great. We learn of Hannah’s past and her strained relationship with her parents. Owen and Hannah are so great together. Sparks fly when they are together. This book was really good. I can not wait to read about how the other two wildflowers fall in love,

An awesome story in the Wildflower series. Jill has great characters and she makes you feel like you've known them all your life, Hannah and Owen are no different. Hannah was a possession to her parents. Grow up and marry a guy that can add to her father's wealth. of course, it had to be someone socially acceptable for her mother. Owen had a company to save from the hungry shareholders in his fathers' absence. This was a great story that kept your interest and kept you reading. I highly recommend it.

An engaging and at times an exciting story. This was my first experience with the Wildflowers. I did not feel lost. I liked Hannah and Owen. Their family issues were interesting. While the "bad guys" were obvious, that didn't detract from the desire to see why and when the problems would be revealed and solved. I skipped over the intimate details.

3 1/2 Stars for this summer romance.

Hannah is one of the Wildflowers and she's in love with the oldest Costa Brother, Owen. But Owen is back in Destiny looking after the family business while is father is on the missing list. But when Leo comes back, it will effect all of the Costa brothers and the Wildflowers.

This is another cute summer romance that will have you laughing and swooning. And you will find out most of the answers to the questions that have been brewing since the first book. I just found that when this book started you were in the middle of Hannah and Owen's story because a lot of their story is in book two ... so I would be really hard to read this book as a standalone. Therefore, I didn't find this book as compelling as the first 2 books.

I received an early copy courtesy of Montlake Romance through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Hannah and her best friends Zoey, Elle, Scarlett, and Aubrey have been friends since they were 11 when they met at a summer camp in Florida. They call themselves the 'wildflowers.' Each of them have wealthy parents who try to control their lives in one or more ways, and their friendship saves each of them in different ways. It also gives them the courage to stand on their own and forge this new business--a summer camp for adults-- out from under the control of their parents. It's the same place they all met at as pre-teens, only now it has been repurposed. The camp grounds are filled with private cabins and plenty of activities for guests, with an amazing chef to run the kitchen and incredible themed social events for guests. They hire the three Costa brothers to do work at the camp, only the Costas are there under false pretenses. When the truth comes out, there are some hurt feelings, but eventually they all work it out.

Owen is the oldest Costa brother, and he falls for Hannah, but leaves her in a lurch after he gets some delicate information about Hannah and a phone call regarding his father and his business on the same night. He high-tails it back to his business office without even saying goodbye to Hannah, which leaves her feeling vulnerable and hurt. A month later, she runs into him again at his office, and he tries to explain what happened, but she's not really open to hearing it. Needless to say, things finally work out, but not without a few major issues along the way.

This book was fun and a fairly quick read. The characters are well-thought out for the most part. Owen's motivation for leaving in the first place is somewhat skewed, as he runs scared. He glosses over this issue, without really dealing with it, and then he is suddenly ready to pursue a relationship with Hannah. This didn't ring true to this reader. Regardless, events conspire to bring these two together and they discover that they are a good team.

There is some intriguing suspense during the last half of the book that keeps the reader hooked on the story. The villain is fairly easy to spot, in spite of a red herring that is thrown into the mix. These protagonists are put in danger a time or two, but justice is served in the end. There are several references to additional storylines that flow out from this book. Apparently each of the 5 women get their own tale, as two of the wildflowers have already found their HEA within this book. This book can be read as a stand-alone, and there are definite references to events that have occurred regarding the wildflowers and the Costa brothers. It might be nice to read them in order, but the story still flows regardless.

Summer Secrets is the 3rd book in this series which can probably be read as a standalone but I'd suggest starting with Dylan and Zoey's book.

Hannah and her 4 besties run an adult camp (sounds fun!) and Owen and his 2 younger brothers are trying to find out what is up with their father and how things connect to the Wildflowers (the girls). If you like campy at times drama and lovey dovey goo, this one fits. I enjoyed it, the writing is well done and I hope we get Scarlet and Aubrey's books too.
