I loved the premise of this book with Jessica going after the person who stole her money. It was difficult sometimes to be pulled into her story of the cult in her past, but it definitely has an impact on who she is now. I did not see the ending come at all and it was an awesome way to end the story and blow your mind as a reader.

I'd actually love to give this 3.5 stars! I loved the cat and mouse game of all the Jessica Williams getting conned and coming together to take the mystery person down. As is usually the case with me, one timeline overshadows the other one and in this case I was annoyed every time the story flipped back to Jessica's time in the cult. It's the past, she is out and dealing with current issues, please stop bugging me with what happened back then! And, at the end when the connection is made, it is still so tenuous that it could have been done differently in a manner I might have just enjoyed better. Still, glad I read it because the concept is a great one!

This was an enjoyable ride. I was hooked from the start and kept thinking about it when I wasn't reading. I needed to know how it would all unfold.

The whole storyline and plot was really interesting and engaging, I don't want to reveal too much in order to keep some intrigue. It was really fast paced, keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

You will not know who to trust in this book and I loved that it kept me guessing. The twisty ending I could've never imagined it, I was not expecting that at all, I loved to be mind blown and trust me you will be.

If you're looking for a fast paced popcorn thriller that will keep you hooked, this is it!

Mixed feelings - because I seriously do not like the unreliable narrators and unknown plot twists revealed in the last chapters; but I also love messy characters and situations which ring true. Because there is something very messy and true about the main character Jessica and all the darkness she went through during her life. This kind of life “education” leaves marks and scars. And maybe this is what rings so true for me, this realness of quite damaged young woman who chooses the immature solutions.
And now I can only wish for s sequel of her and Liam, where they can save each other (possibly).

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

A very engaging thriller. I usually don't like books about cults but this one really pulled me in. I highly recommend for those who love thrillers.

A book with twist and turns. A proper thriller that will keep you guess from beginning to end. Expect the unexpected

I read this in June 2020 (COVID madness) and realized I didn't review it!

This book was a really solid psychological thriller - Catherine McKenzie was able to draw me in and keep me in the dark (this wasn't a story that I figured out the ending ahead of the book actually ending).

This book kept me reading - and on the edge of my seat. It involves stolen identity, cults and lots of action.

Recommended read - as always - Catherine McKenzie was able to create tension but also believable.

Catherine McKenzie is the queen of thrillers. Full of twists and turns, I really enjoyed this popcorn thriller. It was fast paced and impossible to put down. Highly recommend.

Jessica has been living in a cult her entire life. One day, she gets rescued by a guy named Liam and he helps her to assimilate into the “real” world. Because of her experience, she receives a large amount of money. She meets someone at an airport and the next day all of her money is gone. This book was twisty and so much fun. I really enjoyed it.

What a surprising ending! And, lots of twists and turns as well.

Well written, great characters, excellent story and plot and, for the most part, easy to follow along with - even with Jessie, Jessica, JJ - though it I had to re-read some of the sentences a couple times to to see "which "Jessica" was talking to and/or about "which other Jessica"

The cult portion was very interesting as there were certainly many news stories from which to research and take portions from to create LOT.

Recommended for those who've read other books by this author.

I’m a sucker for a novel that includes a crazy cult, so this was definitely the book for me. Catherine McKenzie continues to turn out great mystery/suspense novels, and at this point I would not hesitate to recommend her books to anyone.

You might hold your breath while playing a game of deception in another Catherine McKenzie thriller. Jessica Williams has survived a cult and has been on her own. Life is good, or so it seems. A chance meeting with another Jessica Williams? What do they have in common, how can the other Jessica get in everything she has to take over her life? Uou will feel like you have run a marathon as youbtryvto stay ahead of the bad "guys". Will your hard work prevail? Or who is the real Jessica controlling lives? Will she be exposed at the end?

Possibly McKenzie's best book yet! This cat and mouse thriller had me engaged every step of the way and recommending to everyone!

DNF - Did not finish. I did not connect with the writing style or plot and will not be finishing this title. Thank you, NetGalley and Publisher for the early copy!

DNF at 50%. I thought the premise was great and the opening chapters drew me right in. Jessica meets a woman at the airport bar who has her same name and birthday. What are the odds?? And then shortly after meeting, a lot of her money is stolen and she knows it had to be “Jessica 2” as she thought of her. When the police don’t seem to be making it a priority, Jessica decides to track down the other woman and her money herself.

From there - the story just became a little dull for me and I’m not as into it as I had hoped. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advance reading copy!

Well this was an addicting read! I feel like its been a while since I've picked up a book thats kept me as gripped as this. I've never read any of Catherine McKenzie's other books yet everyone seems to really enjoy them and I can understand why if they're like this one!
The inclusion of the cult aspect was so well done and included as part of Jessica's backstory that made sense. I did not see the twist coming right at the end which is surprising as I'm normally very good with twists at the end of thriller books. I also enjoyed the slight romance that was included again and it didn't overshadow the story or feel like it was being pushed in your face.
I'm really intrigued to read another book from Catherine McKenzie as she's really impressed with this one!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Catherine McKenzie is one of my all time favorite authors and her books keeps getting better and better and better. Loved this one

I loved this book! Such unique story! The plot alone had me intrigued - multiple characters with the same name and birth date trying to track down the person who is embezzling their money and sullying their reputation. You would think it would be confusing, but it actually wasn't. This book had me guessing up to the very end. This was the first book I've ready by Catherine McKenzie and it certainly won't be my last.
