First and foremost, a large thank you to NetGalley, Catherine McKenzie, and Lake Union Publishing for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.

When it comes to books with twists aplenty and well-developed characters, readers need not look further than Catherine McKenzie and her latest novel. Well-paced and full of ‘aha’ moments, McKenzie shows why she is one of the great authors of her genre. After being outed at work and having her name splashed all across social media, Jessica Williams needs some time away. While waiting in an airport bar, she comes across a woman around her age. Funny enough, they share a name. Two Jessica Williamses? After a drink and some interesting conversation, our protagonist heads off onto her flight, distancing herself from the world and her online presence. It’s only when she lands back in the US that she discovers someone has drained her bank account. On the hunt for who might have done this, bank officials are flummoxed, as it was ‘Jessica Williams’. The security footage is grainy, but Jessica is sure she knows who did it. Confiding in her closest friend, Jessica begins a search to see if others have been taken by this Jessica Williams. The search takes her around the country, as she discovers others with her name and birthdate who have been scammed for much of their money. Determined to drive this grifter out of hiding, Jessica and her gang of others (aptly given numbers to differentiate them) set traps, only to be told in sly text messages that they will never catch her. As Jessica interspersed her battle with living in and bring extricated from a cult, the story takes many directions for a woman who had no identity and will not surrender the loose self she has discovered over the past 12 years. Grit and determination drive this woman, no matter where things take her. A wonderful story that leaves the reader panting from this hectic journey. Recommended to those who love a good thriller to pass the time, as well as the reader familiar with Catherine McKenzie and her work.

I am happy when I see a new book by Catherine McKenzie, as I can always be assured of a wonderful story. She is able to capture all the essentials in a thriller and still leave the reader gasping aloud with some of the plot twists she introduces. Jessica Williams (the original and protagonist) is a wonderful character onto whom the reader can latch themselves throughout. Willing to share a lot of her experiences in the cult, as well as a determination to keep hold of her identity, she finds herself in many interesting situations, always eager to push forward and get some answers. This might be part of her journalism background, but it also gives the reader the needed momentum to push through this book. With an underlying romantic interest in her life, Jessica battles to define herself while also not letting this guy slip through her fingers, all a part of the larger storyline. Other characters help push the story along, not the least of which the other Jessica Williamses, all of whom bring their own qualities to the narrative. McKenzie makes sure to differentiate them from one another, but connects these women with the needed aspects to keep the story flowing. The story itself was well written and developed throughout, keeping the reader on the edge of their seats as they see where the twists occur and how they will help strengthen to overall narrative. McKenzie is creative in her plots and ideas, utilising this to keep the reader wondering. With two strong narratives—cult and present—interwoven, the reader is always trying to determine what is to come, as well as how Jessica Williams came into herself. All culminating in a twist that ties it together. A wonderful book and I am eager to see what else is to come.

Kudos, Madam McKenzie, for another winner. I hope others see the strengths that I do and latch themselves onto this book in short order.

I won’t pretend to know the ends and outs of what a thriller should contain. I only know what I like and I really liked this one. You Can’t Catch Me grabbed hold of my interest and never let go. A fast-paced ride until the very end with a few twists I saw coming and a few I didn’t. Definitely recommend.

For fans of Minka Kent's When I Was You check out Catherine Mckenzies' newest release: You Can’t Catch Me that is available on June 9th!

Aside from easily telling in the beginning that the other woman was going to steal Jessica’s money and identity, therefore, creating a game of chase between the two it was a somewhat entertaining thriller. Some chapters were a bit dry and it felt like it was dragging on at times, but part three is where the suspense kicks in that the reader has been waiting for. I know a lot of reviews on thrillers say ”I just wasn't expecting the end”, but throughout the entirety of the book I thought I had a good idea on what was going to happen and a few pages right before the ending, the author throws a giant curveball and your like what?!

This book is a wow from start to finish. The book centers around Jessica and a plot of revenge. Her life is falling apart from her own bad actions and a con artist who steals her money. Throw in her back story of being raised in a cult and the plot gets complicated very quickly. The twisty ending is the icing on the cake. A must read from an author who always delivers a creative and engaging story. This book was provided to me by NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review.

If you don't have this book on your wish list or preorder, now is the time. I read this book in a couple of days. I really enjoyed the characters, Jessica and her friend, Liam as well as the way the story line played out.

It is scary how easy it is for someone to steal another person's identity and get away with it. However, Jessica Two did not count on Jessica One. Jessica One had Liam and a group of other Jessicas's on her side. Yet, when it comes to love, she is a bit clueless. I could not believe that she did not recognize how much Liam loved her. While, I was rooting for him and Jessica to get together, this book is not about the romance but is a thriller.

Just when I thought I had the story figured out, the author hits me with one last twist at the end. Don't let this book come and go without reading it.

Thank you to the author, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was an intriguing premise, which got a bit bogged down in improbable detail and then went off the rails. The train wreck, e.g. the twist was very foreseeable, and the outcome felt a bit flat - kind of like the author was eager to tie up all the loose details. I wish I had liked this more, the writing flowed well, but the story didn't grab me.

Some books start slow and you have to be patient, often waiting a hundred pages or more for the book to grab you. And then there are books like You Can't Catch Me that grabs you from page 1 and doesn't let go!

Jessica Williams comes to a hefty sum of money but before she has a chance to start spending it, she is conned by someone with the same name. The money's gone and so is Jessica II. Unfortunately police is of no help so Jessica decides to track her money down herself and starts by looking for other Jessica Williams as she suspects that they might have been defrauded by the same person.

Jessica is not your typical 29 year old. She grew up in a cult with a fanatic leader Todd and was separated from her parents at an early age. With a help from an outsider Liam, Jessica managed to escape the cult just before her 18th birthday.

Stories about cults fascinate me and that's what initially drew me to this book. Even though the story centres around the financial fraud, probably half of the book are flashbacks to Jessica's life in the commune.

There are some far-fetched moments in the book but for some reason I didn't mind them and in the end enjoyed both story lines. I found this to be a perfect weekend read.

Many thanks to the publisher for my review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Be prepared to suspend belief then sit back and just enjoy this fun ride! Plausible story, no. Total blast, YES!!! Jessica Williams meets Jessica Williams. One is a con artist and the other has just won money in a harassment payoff. Who is conning who and who will win? I have recently read several books about con-artists and went into this one basically yawning, but I woke up QUICK!!! Read it, read it, READ IT!!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Catherine McKenzie and Lake Union Publishing for this ARC!

This was a wild ride that had my head spinning with confusion from trying to keep all the details straight by the end. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, but I thought it wrapped up a bit too quickly, and is maybe the most far fetched thriller I've ever read.

Jessica Williams has had a full life. She was in a cult and with help, escapes. She has made a new life for herself. As she is sitting in airport she meets another Jessica Williams with the same birth date as her! What Jessica doesn't realize, the 2nd Jessica is a con artist that steals her identity and all her money! Jessica devises a plan to go after the thief. This is a great thriller that has many twists and turns. I read this in one day as I couldn't put it down. I received an advanced readers copy and all opinions are my own.

This is a crazy amazing book! I was enjoying the story at face value with no real inkling that anything was lurking beneath the surface then.....BAM! A conversation with Covington upended the story for me and I had to think back for clues. I really enjoyed the characters and the story line. There are so many different scams out there defrauding people that it is rewarding to read about a scammer being taken down. I’ve been on a bit of a book, slump lately and this book has done so much toward making me want to read more.

You Can't Catch Me by Catherine McKenzie is a mind-blowing novel. The central theme of the plot is identity theft, wherein our protagonist finds out that she has been duped for all her savings by someone with the same name and date of birth as hers. She then embarks on a journey to seek the perpetrator in hope of getting back her money. In the process, she discovers other victims, and the plot takes unexpected turns. The protagonist's childhood spent in a cult runs as a side track in the plot.

There is no way one can guess how the story ends. After revealing the protagonist, the author had me believing there would be no more surprises, only to land a strong surprising twist at the end. Nicely executed, Catherine.

Thanks to the author and the publisher for the ARC.

Verdict: Read it for the unexpected end.

Wow! Just wow! Just finished reading this and I am in stunned silence.

This is a well-written, captivating book with an ending I was not expecting.

The story follows Jessica Williams, as she attempts to find and avenge a woman who stole her money out of her account, another Jessica Williams. As she is on this journey, we learn all about Jessica's past of growing up in a cult. Things get very complicated as the past and present clash together.

Jessica Williams meets another Jessica Williams. How crazy is that??

After I read this, I completely forgot to write a review on it. Ooops!

One Jessica Williams is from a cult, another is a war veteran, another is a small town girl, and another is a fantastic con artist that loves to steal money.

I remember enjoying the book but not too huge into it because it was just so far fetched that it didn't seem believable.

You Can’t Catch Me by Catherine McKenzie was a fun thriller to read! Jessica Williams is a journalist in New York who has just been outed in the media as plagiarizing a huge story. She gets fired and as part of her severance she gets a vacation to Mexico. While at the airport bar she meets another Jessica Williams. They even have the same birthdate. After what seems to be an innocent conversation, main character Jessica leaves for Mexico for the week. When she gets back she finds out her bank accounts have been wiped clean. It seems the other Jessica, now dubbed Jessica Two, was a con artist and scammed her out of all her money and bank account information. Jessica is enraged and determined to find Jessica Two and get her money back. With the assistance of her investigator friend Liam she sets her plan in motion. There is a back story also about Jessica growing up in a cult in upstate New York that intertwines with the present story. I loved the characters and the plot was very unique. Definitely read this one! Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions on my own.

Identity theft victims typically react by cutting ties to the information that was stolen and rebuilding their lives from that moment on. But what if instead an ID theft victim decided to not be a victim? To seek information and revenge? A woman who escaped a cult as a young child finds her id has been stolen but while actively looking for the thief, she finds an extended group of women who bear her name and birthdate. How can this be? That's an original plot with a very original story to follow. Catherine McKenzie is well known for throwing a twist inside her stories that keep you focus'd so as not to miss any clues. I never have to worry that I won't like her story.

For some reason this book took me so long to read. I found it a bit repetitive when the main character is often researching and looking for the next Jessica. But i am now really close to the end and the story in picking up! Can’t wait to see what the ending is like!

One day Jessica meets a woman at an airport bar with an identical name and birth date. It appears to be just an odd coincidence until a week later, when Jessica finds her bank account drained and her personal information stolen. Jessica begins her search for other Jessica’s who experienced the same thing. They set up a plan to catch the imposter, but when plans go awry the risks are greater than she imagined.

This book for the most part was a pretty fast read. It is shorter chapters the book is broken up into 3 parts. With that being said parts of the book were excellent and some of it really really dragged. I also felt that parts of the book I had no clue what was going on - with there being multiple Jessica’s in the story it became confusing who was speaking at the time. There are also times when the story goes in the past and then would completely switch to the present.

I enjoyed majority of the storyline - I felt it was unique and had amazing potential. The first 2/3 I couldn’t put the book down and the last 1/3 of the book was a HUGE letdown that completely changed my review of the story.

There’s also a major storyline about how the main character Jessica was rescued from a cult. However, this storyline was not only confusing, but completely unnecessary. I do understand at the end of the book that it did go back to this, but I felt the author could have done the whole cult thing completely different and I would have imagined it more.

Overall, sadly this was a fail for me. I would recommend reading 2/3 of the book and then just forgetting the last 1/3.
