A quite enjoyable read. I don't read much satire, but this was well done. I enjoyed the whole package -- characters, plot, dialog, etc. I hope the author writes another book soon.

Thanks very much for the review copy!!

I would like to thank David Millar, Melting Tundra Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of The Ministry for Ignoring Climate Change.

I really enjoyed the political satire in this book. David Millar has done a great job in satirizing the absurdity surrounding carbon reduction policy. There is excellent comment throughout describing how politicians will not implement effective change through fear of electoral backlash. The plot revolves around a community action; the importance of such action is highlighted.

The description of life in a small isolated town is excellent, very relatable and highly entertaining.

I really, really wanted to love this book, but I'm afraid I just didn't. As a satire, it doesn't seem sharp enough, and to be honest, the story just drags on and on with exposition and scientific info dumps, which just feel like repetitive lectures, to be honest.
The story and plot were fine, and enjoyable, even, but lack of character development and differentiation made it difficult to care about or root for anyone in particular and caused the story to lack focus. It could've been a fine ensemble story, but there were so many moving parts that it became difficult to track. Too much telling: this happened, then this, then this, then this, ad infinitum. The whole thing never gelled for me.
