I had this on my list of books I really wanted to read, and somehow missed the opportunity. Sorry, it really sounded like something that I would enjoy reading and sharing.

Naturally, I know of Buddha and Buddhism and some of the beliefs, but really, I know little about Buddha. This picture book, appropriate for elementary ages and up, tells us the story of the prince Siddhartha and his quest for the truth. The flowing illustrations are beautiful and enticing. I really enjoyed learning the story behind this religion.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for fulfilling my review request. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've never read Siddhartha, so my knowledge of the Buddha is pretty limited. I was only vaguely familiar with this story, so this book made it much clearer to me. The language is simple, accessible even to a young child.

A lovely book explaining how Siddhartha Gautama became the Buddha and founded Buddhism. Geared toward older kids, the text is clear and easy to understand, imparting the spirituality of the subject matter without being overly "woo." It will work well as an introduction to world religions/cultures, for kids and adults, plus the artwork is just beautiful, so it's a pleasure to look at too. The soft watercolor illustrations add a sense of peace to the story that enhances it nicely. Definitely recommended!

I really enjoyed this graphic novel because of its art style and entrenching plot. I would highly recommend this to fans of middle grade fiction and interesting stories.

This beautifully illustrated, illuminating book that explains the life of Siddhartha Gautama and how he became the Buddha and created a world religion. I would recommend this book for an exploration and comparison of major world religions at the upper elementary level. The illustrations are lovely and rendered in watercolor that pairs nicely with the text's emphahsis on the peaceful, mindful practices of the Buddha. I learned a lot myself about Siddhartha Gautama, such as how he was married and had a child before going on his quest to find how to relieve human suffering. An excellent text! Also of note is the brief, yet quality informational background information at the end.

What a gorgeous book. The story was written well and the illustrations were so pretty. I was so ignorant to the beginning of Buddhism and had no clue where it originated or how. I feel the book portrayed the origins of this peaceful religion in a perfect way. Love a book that is short, and educational and thought provoking.

A strong introduction to the Buddha with clear, descriptive, yet simply written text. As in any good picture book, the illustrations do their part in the storytelling and are quite beautiful.

This was a simple picture book biography about the Buddha. It is suitable for younger kids as it is not very complex. It has beautiful illustrations as well.

A lovely book with engaging text and gorgeous illustrations. It tells the story of Siddhartha Gautama... how he was born a prince, left his homeland on a journey of spiritual discovery and how the things that he learned became the Buddhist tradition. The book concludes by making the connection between this man who lived 2500 years ago with Buddhists today.

The text is probably most suited to early elementary aged children, but there is also a historical note at the end with a bit more information.

A nice introduction to an important faith, ensconsed by the fantastic illustrations.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion, which I am always happy to give. My thanks to #NetGalley, the author and publisher for this opportunity. #TheLifeOfTheBuddha
