Finding Simplicity by Amber Parker

Simple doesn't necessarily mean easy, they can also be profound as we see in this book.

The author goes through the book of James and distils some simple but profound truths that can help us transform our personal lives, our walk with God, and our relationships with others.

Some of these truths challenge us to:

Choose joy
See our challenges through God's eyes
Tap into God's supply of wisdom
Choose confidence over doubt
Take responsibility for our actions

And many others.

Amber Parker's writing is engaging and non-academic, and I like the relevant stories and anecdotes.

I also like that there are practical suggestions and reflections in every chapter. This makes for a great personal Bible study. I feel that I need a reminder on many of those truths and plan on going through this book again and make lots of notes.

This is my honest opinion based on the review copy I received from the publisher.

Finding Simplicity by Amber Parker is a short and simple read. The author uses clear language that makes it easy to follow and the chapters are brief which makes it a quick read. I also enjoyed many of the reflection questions at the end of the chapters! However I felt like the author could have gone deeper on some of this information as I felt like I was reading a series of blog posts rather than a book, especially with random quotes embedded on the side of some pages. I also think providing the passage numbers would be valuable in case readers wanted to refer to it. Overall I think if you're looking for an easy read with some valuable reflection questions this would be a good read.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley!
