This is my favorite Megan Miranda book to date! I loved the thrills and the back story of a childhood trauma leading into a adulthood and not being able to trust anyone! This book gave me an eerie feeling the entire time, something I just couldn’t shake. The build up of the story was a little let down, I was expecting a little more.

Thanks to Netgalley for my advanced ebook copy.

Title:The Girl From Widow Hill

Author: Megan Miranda

Genre: psychological Thriller

Rating: 5

Everyone knows the story of “the girl from Widow Hills.”

Arden Maynor was just a child when she was swept away while sleepwalking during a terrifying rainstorm and went missing for days. Strangers and friends, neighbors and rescue workers, set up search parties and held vigils, praying for her safe return. Against all odds, she was found, alive, clinging to a storm drain. The girl from Widow Hills was a living miracle. Arden’s mother wrote a book. Fame followed. Fans and fan letters, creeps, and stalkers. And every year, the anniversary. It all became too much. As soon as she was old enough, Arden changed her name and disappeared from the public eye.

Now a young woman living hundreds of miles away, Arden goes by Olivia. She’s managed to stay off the radar for the last few years. But with the twentieth anniversary of her rescue approaching, the media will inevitably renew its interest in Arden. Where is she now? Soon Olivia feels like she’s being watched and begins sleepwalking again, like she did long ago, even waking outside her home. Until late one night she jolts awake in her yard. At her feet is the corpse of a man she knows—from her previous life, as Arden Maynor.

And now, the girl from Widow Hills is about to become the center of the story, once again, in this propulsive page-turner from suspense master Megan Miranda..

My thoughts

Would I recommend it ? Yes

Would I read anything else by this author? Yes

Wow other win for this author, so far besides this one I've read All the Missing Girls , The Last Houseguest, The Perfect Stranger. And all of them just like this was and is five start reads for me, in fact I would go as far and say that this one is my all time second favorite book of her while All the missing girls is my all time favorite one.Why is this my second all time favorite book over her other two books The Perfect Stranger and the Last Houseguest you may be wounding and the answer is because it's more dark and twisted then they are, and it makes you question everything you thought you knew about Olivia. And to tell the truth even though I give the other two books 5 stars and they deserved them this one was everything that I love when it comes to a thriller fast paced, heart pounding, non stop action. With that said I want to thank Simon &Schuster as well as NetGalley for letting me read and review not only one of my most anticipated reads but also one of my top books for January 2020.

Megan Miranda's books are ADDICTIVE. This one was no exception--don't start before bed or on a day when you have anything else to do, as it's unputdownable. It truly kept me guessing until the end, but in Miranda's special way where I'm never truly scared (a good thing) but stay compelled by her complex characters and the twists and turns of the story. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the advanced copy!

The Girl From Widow Hills

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5
This book was a good read, but.....It's not one that I just couldn't put down. It's missing a lot. It has some great twist and good plot. Unfortunately it's lacking more. I feel like the author could have put so much more into it. I kept waiting on that holy crap moment, but it never came.

Thank you to @netgalley for the arc. #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #arc #thegirlfromwidowhills #booknerd #booklover #booklife #suspense

Don’t start this before bed or you might be up all night finishing it! The Girl From Widow Hills kept me guessing all the way through! I didn’t have a clue how it was going to turn out. 10/10

After suffering a traumatic childhood experience, Arden begins anew in a remote town in North Carolina. Although she keeps her past sheltered, Arden has a successful job as a hospital administrator and finds solace in her two friends despite keeping them at an arm's length. When Arden begins sleepwalking, just as she did in her childhood, and characters from her past begin to darken her doorstep, she realizes she must face her past and attempt to remember what she has tried so hard to forget.

I was thankful this book did not end up to be a predictable read. At one point I thought I had the mystery solved, only to be pleasantly surprised that it did not go in the direction I had predicted. Once again, another great read by Megan Miranda. It was a page-turner for me that I could not put down. Thank you NetGalley for the arc of such a great mystery!

Megan Miranda’s new book, THE GIRL FROM WIDOW HILLS is one of the best books I’ve read this year, so far.

Arden Meyer was a 6 year old girl who sleepwalked one night and after an exhaustive search was found in a drainage pipe 3 days later, alive mad with no memory of what happened to her. The media attention surrounding the story dragged on for years afterward and by the time the 5 and then 10 year anniversaries came, Arden didn’t want to be the girl from Widow Hills any longer.

A name and location change and she thought her new life would be better.

But the past has a funny way of catching up with people. When a man turns up dead in Arden – now called Olivia’s yard – a fascinating scenario begins to play out in the young woman’s life that has all roads leading to her past.

I hate spoilers so I won’t give any, but this book is a #2020mustread.

Reminiscent of the 1987 rescue of Jessica McClure, this story really got me thinking about how lives are changed for ever not just for a rescued child, but all the people involved in the rescue. After Jess McClure was rescued the paramedic who did so committed suicide several years later. The pressure of the fame surrounding him was too much to bear. 30 years later and people still talk about “nbaby Jessica” and her rescue. It must be difficult to be someone so famous because something happened to you. This is the story Megan Miranda has successfully told – and the questions she answers about the past catching up with you.

Thanks you to Netgalley and Simone and Schuster for a sneak peek at this fabulous and well told story.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy of The Girl from Window Hills by Megan Miranda. All opinions are my own!

I came into this a little biased- I love Megan Miranda and will read anything and everything she publishes. That being said - up until about 50% of the way through this book, I was unsure of how I felt about it. The mystery of it made me stick with it, but I wasn't absolutely hooked from page one like I normally am with her novels.

I felt that there were some unanswered questions once this got wrapped up, but I still enjoyed the ending and honestly didn't see it coming. I probably would have given this book a lower rating had it not ended the way that it did. I loved that I was second guessing everyone I came in contact with throughout the story while also painfully hoping that they weren't the antagonist.

Is this Miranda's best work? I don't think so. But it was a solid read from someone and had it been written by anyone else I probably would have loved it - my expectations are so high in regards to Miranda. While I'll recommend her other work first, this is still a book I'll recommend to thriller-loving patrons.

I proudly announce that WE HAVE ANOTHER WINNER! This year there will be so much competition between smart, heart throbbing, mind bending, terrifying thrillers.

I have to admit the plot of the book excited me so much. A six years old sleepwalker girl leaves her house and she’s not found for 3 days. There is threatening rainstorm starts out there. Rescue workers, neighbors and large groups of search parties look for everywhere to bring her home back. Then she miraculously found by Sean Coleman with a nasty arm injury and memory loss, clinging to a storm drain. But she made it! Yes! Atta girl!

But the little six year old who suffered from compelling trauma didn’t have any idea the story of her coming back will become one of the greatest urban legend story. She got all attention of media, fans, stalkers, creepy admirers. And guess what? Her own mother milked her daughter’s story to her own benefit, wrote a book, earned so much money by distorting truths about her daughter’s traumatic experiences. So let’s take the year of the mom award from Carrie White’s mother Margaret and give that to this lovely mother who stole her own daughter’s childhood.

So little girl, once upon a time Arden Maynor and now Olivia, changed her name to have clean slate and brand new life without media’s impact and strange admirers’ love and hate letters. She is estranged with her mother, working at hospital, living at a cottage in the middle of nowhere and has a protector and wild old neighbor Rick( I visualized him as Tim Robbins after seeing his performance at Castle Rock. She has good friends, a professor ex, busy work schedule.

But one day she got a box which is worse than Pandora’s because she finds out her mother is dead and there are several things inside of it can trigger her threatening, vicious memories about her past and lost 3 days. Unfortunately she finds out she is not gonna get away from who she is because her night terrors return back and she starts sleepwalking again. And later, she wakes up again she finds herself next to corpse outside her home. The dead man is coming from her past is ready to haunt her forever!

So did she kill the man and forget it? If she doesn’t, who did it? Why doesn’t she remember anything about her disappearance? There are so many holes about her story and one of her best friend quits from her job and disappears without telling her anything. And the dead man’s identity comes out…. She cannot be more confused and terrified. So what’s gonna happen? Whodunit?
I have to admit that I was going between 2 to 3 stars at the beginning because I thought the killer’s identity was so obvious. I was trying to decide between two people.

But guess what: ENDING OF THIS BOOK IS FANF**KINGTASTIC!!!! IT KILLED MY SPIDER SENSES LITERALLY! And last quarter of the book was so fast pacing. I didn’t have enough nail to bite but I bit my pillows and my husband found me covered in feathers when you came home from business trip, took my pictures and posted as “birdwoman”.

But it’s worth it! I loved the conclusion of the story! Pacing, writing style and plot were captivating. This is gonna be one of my favorite Megan Miranda books.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Simon&Schuster for sending me this heart throbbing, exciting book’s ARC COPY in exchange my honest review. And thanks to Megan Miranda to create this spooky, nerve bending, remarkable story that I really enjoyed so much!

This is the third Megan Miranda book I've read and this one challenged me in all the good ways. I read a lot of this genre and truth be told I am pretty good at figuring out who done it. But this time I was truly in the dark until the very end and even then I was shocked and didn't see the ending coming. I thought I had it completely figured out!

If you want to read books that are well written and grab you right from the beginning then this is the author for you! Please read a book by this author!

I really like Megan Miranda, and this book does a great job of creating a eerie tone of suspense.

Ever since she was saved from an almost tragedy while sleepwalking as a child, Arden has tried to distance herself from that version of her and her mother, who is the keeper of Arden's history.

Now as an adult, Arden has begun sleepwalking again, and wakes up next to a dead body. As her past rushes to meet the present, Arden begins to question everything she has ever known about her past.

This book is very engaging and a suspenseful read. I did not enjoy it as much as some of her other books, but I still enjoyed this latest from Megan Miranda.

Thanks to NetGalley.com, the author, and publisher for my ARC!

THE MOM???? I mean, I did not see this one coming. My heart was racing the whole time and I wanted Olivia/Arden to get the heck out of there the whole time. Spooky! Really grateful for the opportunity to read this book. Will recommend to others!

Megan Miranda does it again! This book drew me in right away and I honestly couldn’t put it down. The author has such an awesome way with words and phrasing. A way that I don’t think you normally find in the thriller genre. Her words at times are lyrical and poetic and show deep thoughts about life and our circumstances (especially in this book). This book was such a fast read and a great thriller!! I couldn’t wait to finish it!

What I liked: The main character was portrayed as a strong, self-aware woman who was able to survive a rather challenging childhood and rise above her circumstances. The way the author wrote the story and built the suspense, I had no idea who to trust. I doubted everyone Olivia came in contact with and suspected that they all had ulterior motives at some point in the book. I was also left guessing whether Olivia herself had committed the murder while sleepwalking. There were so many possibilities on how this story would play out and just when you thought you had it figured out, the author would lead you down a different path. I still didn’t guess the ultimate “bad guy” until the author lead you to them at the end of the book. It was definitely a surprise!!

What I didn’t like: The ending was a little rushed and I felt like there were a couple of loose ends that could have been tied up. I would have liked an epilogue or another chapter that jumped into the future to see how Olivia was doing once everything settled down. I felt like I connected to the main character and wanted to make sure she was okay when the story ended.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for a free ARC of this book!!

I have read this from a copy on Edelweiss!
This was a 5 plus star read for me, which instantly hooked me even more to Megan Miranda’s work. This book was so well written, with characters developed so well you had to find out exactly what happened, and original!! It had me flipping pages like a mad woman, trying to find out what had happened! Excellent thrills, spine tingling chills, and shocks are sure to be found when reading this book! I highly recommend to those who love the original thrillers!
Will make sure I buzz it up on all the different platforms!

Megan Miranda is a prolific mystery/thriller author, and I will continue to read her works. However, this story just didn’t hit all the marks. I felt like there were too many angles being examined and tangents distracting me from the nitty gritty heart of the story.

Confession time.... I literally took a personal day at my job because I was so invested in reading this book- I couldn't put it down. It was entertaining from page one, and I was completely thrown off by the ending, which doesn't often happen to me. Just a very well written, well-planned, highly entertaining roller coaster of a book. One of the best I've read in awhile!

As a child, Arden Maynor was famous for surviving a flood when she disappeared while sleepwalking during a huge storm. When she was found alive, everyone pronounced her a miracle, her mother went on to write a book and Arden became a media sensation. When all the attention and the creeps and weirdos became to much, Arden became someone else. Now an adult, Arden lives far from her childhood home and goes by the name Olivia, but she knows that with the twentieth anniversary of her rescue, the press will want to reopen the story. Her fears lead to another bout of sleepwalking, until the night she wake up in her backyard to find a dead man at her feet. A man from her past, one who knew her true identity. Miranda is fast proving herself to be one of the best thriller authors publishing today. Her legion of fans will not be disappointed
