Excellent romance set against the old west, Union pacific /railroad world and intrigue. Enjoyed these characters and story line by this author.

Reading books like this takes me back to the 90s when I was reading every Harlequin Historical romance I could get my greedy little hands on. I especially loved the post-civil war era westerns. To this day, I have a hard time resisting them! I did enjoy reading this little slice of life story. It was way more realistic to the options and happenings of that time than any of those old books were - and a lovely story to book.

In the last year Catalina lost both her husband and infant son. Both were traumatic for her, but especially the death of her son. She also lost her job as a result of a lawsuit against her boss. The lawyer brining that lawsuit - is none other than Grayson Wainright. Grayson's brother was killed as result of the railroad construction company using shoddy materials. As part of his case against the owner of the company, he needs the owner's wife to testify. After a chance encounter with Catalina, he recruits her to try and help him convince the wife to help him. shortly after meeting with the owner's wife, Grayson finds her murdered - with her infant daughter left alone and crying in her bed.

Grayson then takes immediately steps to keep both Catalina and the baby safe. All the while, with Catalina struggling with caring for an infant again in the face of her grief.

Overall - I enjoyed the story, but at times felt I was being dropped in the middle of something where I didn't have a lot of information about the past. I particularly enjoyed the courtroom scenes - which seemed much more realistic than some of the scenes you see on Law and Order or other "legal" dramas! I also really enjoyed the fact that Catalina's life was portrayed really honestly and in line with the times.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Thanks goes to the publisher, via Net-Galley, for the chance to read and review Grayson by Linda Carroll-Bradd, book 8 in the Bachelors and Babies series. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

Grayson is a well-written, and well-researched novella with engaging characters and a unique plot. For a shorter book, the characters are very well developed. The pacing is excellent, and it kept my interest from the first page to the last.

Catalina is an endearing character. She’s intelligent and determined to make it on her own after her husband is killed. Her heartache over losing her little one tore at my heart. I could feel her pain when she finds herself in a situation, she is not comfortable with at all.

Grayson Wainwright is a great hero. He’s a man of integrity determined to right a wrong. He’s also willing to come to the aid of a woman in distress. When he ends up with an infant, he takes it in his stride.

The romance between Linda and Grayson is sweet. It focuses on the building friendship and the companionship that grows between them as they search for ways to right the wrong that was done to both of them. I enjoy this type of love story a great deal. There’s a lot of emotionally charged moments between the pair, and I really wanted them to find their happy ending.

There’s a bit of a mystery involved in this story, and Catalina and Grayson have to work together to solve it. It’s through their search that they end up developing feelings for each other. That aspect of the story is excellent, and I enjoyed the plot twists a lot.

If you enjoy clean romances with great characters and an interesting plot, then you will love Grayson as much as I did. I plan to read more of the books in the Bachelors and Babies series. Happy reading!

Dark secrets bring Catalina, a young widow, and Grayson, a lawyer seeking justice for his brother's death together in an unorthodox meeting.
As time goes on, it becomes clear the two have a past leading directly to Mr. Riddocks's skimming funds and signing off on inferior materials used for building the railroad.
Add a young infant to the mix and you have a fast paced and budding romance.
A very enjoyable read with a mix of romance, crime, and some railroad history along the way.

An intriguing story that grabbed me from the first page. Catalina was a widow and trying to support herselfby working at the hotel after her husband left and she lost her job at the railroad. What she did not need was the attention of two men, one thinking he recognized her (and she did know him from her other job) and unfortunately they followed her when her shift was over.
Grayson Wainwright was locking up his office when a woman grabbed his arm and asked him to act like her knew her, so began the adventure of Catalina and Grayson!
This was so interesting due to the angle of Grayson trying to get justice from a man who caused his brother to be killed and the connection to Catalina who worked for the man and would become a witness!
Suspense, murder, intrigue, a baby and an attraction that cannot be denied! Loved this story!
