Thank you Netgalley for a copy for a review.
This was not a enjoyable read for me, I found the characters completely unlikable and the story hard to follow.

Simon and his wife Daisy are having extreme issues with their marriage and their lives, both are keeping secrets and lies to themselves. When a terrible accident happens to their daughter Millie their lives take a different path then expected.
This is a darkly written story, with the main characters unlikable and pitiful. This book was hard for me to read and I only finished so I could give my review. Simon and Daisy are two of the most dislikable people, they are weak and it's hard to feel sorry for them and their problems.
This is only my opinion and others may love it but sadly this was not the case for me.

Quickly I realized this book is not for me.I had a really tough time following this story. I did not connect with the characters or the story line for that matter. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this complimentary book. All opinions expressed are my own.

To be honest I had a lot of trouble with this story. I wanted to like it because the storyline interested me but overall I was not impressed and had trouble getting into the story. Didn’t connect with characters or story unfortunately. I do encourage others to give it a chance because while it wasn’t for me it could be a perfect read for others.

LIES LIES LIES
BY ADELE PARKS

This started off slow with clunky writing with just too much surface description of Simon's drinking and facts that didn't seem relevant to the overall story in my opinion. It seemed to drone on and on that I honestly wanted to put it down. But I am so glad that I stuck it out with determination because it got sooooo good! Adele Park's proves herself to be an adept, skilled storyteller that understands the underbelly of dysfunctional relationships and has a good grasp on the inner workings of prison life. When she was describing the point of hierarchies in prison I felt claustrophobic as if I was in there instead of the character who ends up there.

Daisy and Simon are equally responsible for the unraveling of their marriage. Adele Parks keen eye on characterization create Simon to be culpable for where they end up--and they end up pretty broken. But everything doesn't play out as it appears on the surface and by the end of the story the reader will turn everything over inside their mind in regards to really just what happened to how Daisy, Simon and Millie ended up where they do. This was so dark and creepy when all is said and done. Ms. Park's proves that if I questioned initially, and I did the depth of this story as to having none, the last section made a believer out of me that I was wrong. Adele Park's is an astute writer as somebody who is a master in manipulating her audience to question everything they thought originally. This author is seriously capable of fooling the reader to get serious whiplash by the twists and turns that I never saw coming.

By adding in her secondary character's such as Connie and Luke and Daryll Lainbridge and Lucy I started to see that my commitment to keep reading until the end was so worth the payoff that this author delivers with a punch to the senses. As Daryll's character is revealed I felt that Adele Parks astute portrait of Simon and Daisy was tossed upside down and my alliances and sympathies changed towards just who was who. The novel is so surprisingly to have delivered my best advice is to read this stunning narrative and you will be so glad that you did.

Thank you to Net Galley, Adele Parks and Harlequin Trade Publishing for providing me with my ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Book was good. The writing was nice, very descriptive the formatting on the Ebook was horrific and made it harder to read. But I won’t review about that.

I didn’t feel like this was a psychological thriller just a whole bunch of crap people treating everyone like shit. It was good. Author is fantastic.

Thanks to NetGalley for the copy I read.

The formatting made this really difficult to read. In particular, words with certain letters would keep getting broken into multiple words, which made things confusing at times. I frequently had to reread whole sections. Instead of coming off as a domestic thriller, this felt more like an overall depressing story about the breakdown of a marriage. The pace was too slow for my taste. The ending also seemed far-fetched to me.

Characters with realistic flaws are always refreshing aren’t they? And that’s exactly what Adele Parks achieves in this book – believable characters. I’ve read a good handful of Adele Parks publications and although they’re all brilliant they do get better as time goes on. This is a cracker of a psychological thriller made even better when there are lies to the reader as well as to other characters in the book. Adele Parks makes you feel the indignation when secrets are revealed that you, as the reader, feel you should have been made aware of already.

What makes a good thriller? The drama definitely, but also the addition of humour into an otherwise dark text. Adele Parks is the master of this – subtly injecting a bit of fun or a laugh throughout keeps the book interesting, realistic and fun. You will be sickened, frustrated, angry, relieved and so much more whilst you are on the journey of reading this book.

Adele Parks offers a narrative depicting one man’s debauchery of a life. Parks offers a fantastic cast of characters that are all well crafted and offer unique attributes to the plot. The storyline is explorative and wildly intriguing as the reader is forced to depict the trough from all the lies. Great read.

Big twists and turns everywhere. Simon is an alcoholic and would rather be in a bar than with his family. Too many enablers involved. Until a major repercussion from a major drunken binge for Simon and Daisy.

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Daisy and Simon are married with a 6 year old daughter, Millie. Simon is a big drinker and it all goes from bad to worse when, while trying to have a second child, he finds out he is sterile. He gets really drunk at a party, an accident occurs and nothing will ever be the same.

This book was ok at best. It alternated between the perspectives of Daisy and Simon. I thought it dragged in various places, especially Simon’s chapters toward the end. I had to skim those just to be done. Simon’s alcoholism, while probably accurately depicted, was depressing. I thought some of Daisy’s reactions to things that were happening to her were odd and overly passive which bugged me. The reveal at the very end of the book seemed so far fetched I really couldn’t buy it. I didn’t find this to be much of a mystery. It seemed like a depressing family drama where some secrets are revealed but the secrets were mostly boring until the final crazy reveal.

DNF ..... I'm not sure how I feel about this book. It was kind of sad and depressing in the beginning. I definitely wouldn't call it a domestic thriller. It was just really slow for me and I couldn't get into it.

Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh, these reviews are the hardest to write. This one started off very slowly and depressing for me. In fact, I almost considered not finishing it. You should not think of this one as a thriller, it is much more domestic fiction about the breakdown of a marriage – mostly by alcoholism.

Daisy and Simon are the featured characters and Simon is the one struggling (and losing) with alcohol. Things are spiraling out of control and there is a terrible incident one night after a party. We get to hear from both Daisy and Simon, so I appreciated hearing both sides of the tale. However, I did not gain any sympathy for either character, I am not sure if this was the author’s intent or just my perception of the book. I did enjoy Daisy’s female friendships and wish that had been more of the story.

The second half is slightly better, but I found this one to have so many twists (lies?) at the end that it made my head spin. One was just unbelievable.

I really enjoyed her first book “I Invited Her In” – but this one left me wanting more. I know several people have given this one 4-5 stars, so it might just be me and I encourage you to judge for yourself. As always, my reviews are my own opinion.

The first half was BAD.
The second half was WORSE!

I had everything figured out at the 32% point, except for the "twist" in the epilogue which was so ridiculous that you could not figure it out, no matter how good of a sleuth you are.

One star for the author's accurate portrayal of the downward spiral of alcoholic.

Triggers ; Alcoholism, Rape, and the killing of an innocent kitten!

I cannot say that I enjoyed ANYTHING about this slow paced story, but there are plenty of 4 and 5 star reviews out there, so clearly you just may love it!

Genre: Domestic drama/suspense NOT a mystery/thriller.

Simon and Daisy have been happily married for years. All they lack to be the perfect family is a child. After going through IVF they are finally blessed with a baby, Millie.
A very happy complete family. The only problem is Simon's drinking. At first it was just occasional. Then it became regularly. Now he is an alcoholic. One that still manages what he has to. Nevertheless still an alcoholic.
When Simon suggests that another child would be nice, Daisy is not so sure. She remembers the heartbreak and time and testing before they were able to have Millie. Simon is determined and sets up an appointment with the Doctor.
After the consultation, Simon is in a terrible mood. Daisy was not able to go into the consultation with Simon because of the lack of a babysitter. She had to stay out with Millie in the waiting room. Simon is in a temper and leaves them to go to a bar.
Daisy doesn't know what has set him off, she decides it must be because of the cost.
This is a story about lies. Not small white lies, but lies that change a person's life.
It is also a story of secrets. Secrets that can destroy lives.
It's also a story of love, friendship, and loyalty.
This is definitely one of my favorite reads!

Lies come in every shape and size. From a harmless, itty-bitty white lie, to show-stopping whoppers! And as the title would imply, this book has them all!

Daisy and Simon have been living a quiet, comfortable life with their daughter Millie and their close-knit group of friends. Having just learned that Daisy may have lied to him, Simon's drinking goes off the rails, leading to a devastating accident which leaves him incarcerated for years.

Now Simon is about to be released, it’s unknown if Daisy will even consider taking him back? Or worse, has she moved on with an old school friend?

Brace yourself! At this point the lies come fast and furious! Brain-rattling, jaw-droppers included!

Told from both perspectives of Daisy and Simon the book flowed smoothly. Though the first half rolled out slowly as the story-line developed, the second half left me white knuckling my kindle!

Adele Parks writes a finely-crafted, twisty thriller that provides non-stop shocking moments as each lie is revealed.

Lies Lies Lies by Adele Parks absolutely blew me away with its deep dive into the mechanics of a dysfunctional marriage. This one is well-written, sharply observed, and so much more than your typical, predictable dark domestic drama. I could not put this down for a moment.

Daisy and Simon have struggled with infertility, so when their longed for daughter Millie arrives, everything seems to, at last, have fallen into place. But Simon is quite fond of a drink, a pleasure that he cannot deny himself, even if it causes distress and anguish for his wife and daughter. One dark night, as the relationship between Simon and Daisy seems to be at a tipping point, a tragedy befalls the small family, one that will take them to the very brink, and an already fractured marriage will be laid bare and more vulnerable than ever before.

This novel is a masterpiece of character development, and for this alone I was drawn in from the very start. The twists and turns that are so strategically laid out are just the icing on the cake, and I simply couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. I cannot wait to see what the amazingly talented Ms Parks has in store next.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin - Trade Publishing (U.S. & Canada) for this wonderful ARC.
