This was such an interesting read. I could see the elements of the classic, but I loved the modern setting.

this was a really unique book, I liked the mashup and enjoyed the characters. Overall I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more from the author.

I liked this book. It's a modern-day take on Don Quixote, set in a convenience store in Huntsville, Alabama. Our hero awakes when he finds himself standing behind the counter of the store with no memory of who he is or how he got there. His quest to save the world with goodness takes over from there. It's refreshing that he's not obsessed with solving his own self-mystery but rather puts his energy into the external needs of those around him (you know, those needs we all get jaded to when we see them every day). People rise to his level of trust and compassion, until the community itself is basically running the store based on the honor/donate system. As the story develops and it's clear the amnesia our hero has suffered is due to trauma from his own past, and his new personality is atonement
Throw in a missing and probably armed nuclear bomb, and you've got a story!

The book ends somewhat abruptly, but that's not a complaint: once the climax is over it's left to our imaginations to decide how the cast of characters cleans up the mess and gets on with their lives, and what that's going to look like for each of them. I like books that leave me thinking about them after they are over, writing the next few chapters in my head in the weeks that follow the final page.

The writing was easy and fun to read, and had me adding the author's other books to my list of "try to find."
