This is the sequel to The Vine Witch. I really liked The Vine Witch and I have really enjoyed the sequel! Will there be another? I really liked that again the romance was part of the story not the main focus.. The Glamourist involves the same characters moving on in their lives in different ways but being brought together again in ways that were not the norm. The battles are new and different. It was easy to get into and flowed well. There is Elena who has to face the gifts handed down from her parents and the choices she has to make because of them. Next is Yvette and how she grows from being impulsive, angry and untrusting to someone who lets people into her life and accepts the actions of those around her. She has some choices to make as well. Sidra plays a part as well but I am hoping that there is a third that shares her life and experiences. Please have a third book!

The Glamourist was easy to step into without a refresher on the first book and is a fine story, the characters lively, the villain dastardly...but, unfortunately, it lacked the charm that made the first book a standout.

The Glamourist
(Vine Witch #2)
by Luanne G. Smith

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Luanne G. Smith has done it once again in the, The Glamourist, book two in The Vine Witch Series.
This book is next installment, and you won’t be disappointed. A absolutely spellbinding historical fiction seeped in magical realism. A captivating storyline of self discovery

This stunning storyline is follows Elena’s journey of being a vine witch and her new friend Yvette.

Yvette Lenoir was abandoned as a small child on streets of Paris. Where survival has made her a fugitive, and price on her head. Seeking answers to past, the only thing that she has from her childhood is a Grimoire, a book of shadows. Yvette needs help deciphering the meaning of the Ancient Arcane riddles of the grimoire.
Believing that the book is from her mother, and hoping to unlock the secrets of her past. The book might give her insight to her lineage and clues to unlocking her dormant powers.

Elana and Yvette, With cunning thief, the proprietor of an enchanted shop.
Let’s not forget a bewitching black cat, adds to this cast of amazing characters.

This perfectly passed tale, and it’s incredible setting along with Smith’s seamless writing capabilities is not one you want to miss. Rich in atmospheric details, this lovely historical fiction is sprinkled with magical realism. A treasured favorite, that has right amount of romance.

A lovely addition to anyone’s bookshelf

In the Vine Witch, we are introduced to Elena & John Paul. Elena worked as a Vine Witch (good) whose parents were potion witches (bad). In the witch world you can't change your lines& are generally assigned to do whatever your parents did. Witches have lots of laws .. or maybe because they are French.
In the last book, Elena was helped by witches Yvette (from a carnival), and a jinni witch named Sidra.
This book has two main story lines. The first is Elena in Paris trying to have her witch job be formally changed to a Vine witch. John-Paul is an attorney so he wants this so they can be married & move back to the vineyard. The second story is about Yvette and her search for her parents and herself. What kind of witch is she?
The book flows smoothly through transitions and is very readable. Everything connects at the end and there are no big questions or gaps. There is a little romance (clean) and some action (fight scene is great), and a lot of dialogue.
I enjoyed reading the book and would recommend for whomever enjoys fantasy stories. YA suitable.

Brush strokes of magic paint a luminous story filled with Parisian glamour and redemption in the sequel to 'The Vine Witch.'

'The Glamourist' is a remarkable journey about the golden threads that bind people together. It follows Yvette, who must discover her magical lineage in order to awaken her dormant powers. With only a black cat and a mysterious grimoire to help her, along with Elena- The Vine Witch and a troupe of outré characters, the journey of self-discovery becomes a matter of luminescence and shadowiness.

It’s not often that a sequel outshines its predecessor, but 'The Glamourist' does just that. Paris is a city steeped in the occult which Luanne G. Smith brought to life with her imaginative story. The eccentric characters and magical world drew me in from the first page (which echoed that epic curse breaking scene from the first book by the way). There is a little bit of every kind of magic in this book which serves as luminaries in this bewitching tour de force of a story.

There are so many details in the story that intersect like the cobblestone alleyways of Paris. We meet many new characters and visit more witchy places along the way. Sacrifice and love constellate each character’s life challenging them to make the difficult choice of one over the other. In a world where magic depends on blood, the need to assert one’s power proves to be a messy and complicated ordeal for everyone in this book.

'The Glamourist' is an enchanting historical fantasy about the risks it takes to become who you are meant to be, with the help of spells, herbs, art, and love, dancing together under the stars in the city of light.
