Karina Halle knows just how to write an anti-hero, and she delivered with Pascal Dumont in Disavow. This sensual and captivating romance is the third installment in her The Dumonts series, which has become my newest addiction. As the story unfolds, we discover the many layers of Pascal, and his back story is gritty, complicated and mesmerizing, and his ultimate redemption is swoon-worthy. He falls hard for Gabrielle, who has a gut-wrenching history with the Dumonts, and she is the the light to his darkness. Disavow is suspenseful, thrilling, sensual and deeply romantic and is not to be missed.

Karina Halle’s storytelling ability was on full display in Disarm, with the exciting plot and the characters who were both fallible and relatable. The premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are energetic and colorful; the romance is seductive. I was certainly hooked from the start, as the story was fast-paced and thrilling. I also genuinely enjoyed the dynamic between Gabrielle and Pascal and the romance was certainly believable furthermore, it helped bring out Pascal's softer side and that helped make him a more likable character in the end. The epilogue was nicely pulled together with all the main characters from across the whole series which really made for a fantastic read. Loved it. Happy reading!

Pascal was the perfect villain in the first 2 books so when I heard that the 3rd book was about him I was not only curious to see who his love interest would be but how Ms Halle could pull off his transformation

This book started off with a band and Ms Halle had me immediately wondering how Gabrielle and Pascal would survive Gabrielle’s truth about her past.

Needless to say I was cheering for this couple and was so happy that Pascal found his redemption and true love in Gabrielle.

The epilogue is set 5 years later and we see the Dumonts from the previous books all gather at Pascals and Gabrielle’s. We get a glimpse of their lives in the future and it was a beautiful ending and wrap up to the series.

What an amazing, intense and fitting ending to The Dumont Saga by Karina Halle. As if she saved the best for the last. This story pulled at my heartstrings and pushed me to the edge of emotional breakdown. Disavow is a perfect balance of sultry, suspenseful, heartbreaking and swoonworthy!

Pascal Dumont has been portrayed like a bad boy with evil intentions like his father all along but at the end of last book I could feel he has a lot more hiding under this dark aura. After "death" of his uncle and sending his cousins away to different countries with their own HEA, Pascal is running The Dumont company. And he needs a maid or personal assistant since his onld one left. Gabrielle, one of their oldest maid's daughter takes the job after much persuasion and Pascal is immediately intrigued by her. Her sass, her smartness, her genuine way of caring and her beauty fascinates him. But she is also hiding dark secrets and Pascal is facing some terrible threats. Can they make out of this chaos alive? Can Gabrielle get her closure? Can Pascal be ever free of his monster father?

I am in love with the layers and facets of Pascal. He has never been loved by his parents. His cousins are disgusted by him. He has worked tirelessly to get control of the company but he is not even sure that he is happy with it. His father can very well be a murderer. He has the burden of everything but he is still a good guy inside. He took care of Gabrielle and he believed her and protected her. My heart swells and breaks for him! And Gabrielle is so strong! I cannot imagine her pain and suffering. But she got back on her own two feet against all odds. They have a strange camaraderie and they are fighting together against the world. Gautier had it coming since the first book. And I rejoiced for his fall!! The story has sharp twists and unpredictable turns and I was literally holding my breath in last few chapters. But it was a beautiful ending. I could not hold back tears

Karina Halle created a fantastic journey in The Dumont world. It is the world of riches, power, deception, mind games and danger. But it is also the world of love, redemption, second chances and self discovery. Disavow have the best of both worlds.

Wowwwww this was a quick read with so much secrets, suspense and steamy chemistry. Pascal was intriguing from all the other books and so evil so I was waiting to see what his story would have been about. Gabrielle was the maid’s daughter that had returned and Pascal was intrigued by her. She clearly didn’t put up with his bs but there was something about her that he just couldn’t put together. Gabrielle had an agenda and it didn’t include falling in love with Pascal. Pascal also didn’t expect to fall for her but there was danger lurking them and I’m not going to spoil but it was a traumatizing event for Gabrielle and Pascal was her knight in shining armor. The ending I loved you saw growth, a form of forgiveness in the Dumonts.

This is the final book in Karina Halle’s series and I can’t believe it will end with Pascal! Oh Pascal is the bad guy who has been so wicked and now we get a deep and very dark look inside his mind. I love dark books and this one gave me so much darkness with peeks of light. Pascal gets a new assistant who just happens to be the former head mistress’s daughter, Gabrielle. Gabrielle has returned after 8 years and she is back to find her mother who went missing and more. Gabrielle doesn’t have anyone to trust at the Dumont maison, but soon finds refuge in the one man’s arms she never thought she would. Can she really be the woman Pascal has been looking for? This a 5 star read and I loved all the twists in it.

One might imagine that living life in the shadow of luxury would have its advantages. Nothing could be further than the truth for Gabrielle. As the daughter of a maid for a wealthy family, Gabrielle knows that secrets and sin lie behind the doors of the Dumont family. Determined to escape the fate that lies behind those doors, Gabrielle flees the only place that she has ever called home.

Years have passed since Gabrielle found herself struggling with the pain inflicted from her teenage years. Time has not healed the turmoil that still haunts her memories. With vengeance in her heart, Gabrielle once again finds herself returning to the Dumont estate. As the most recent employee of Pascal Dumont, Gabrielle begins to enact a plan that was years in the making. The only problem with the execution lies in the soul of a tattered heart that knows the pain attached to the name Dumont.

What a journey!! The last installment in the Dumonts series will lead you on a journey of secrets, sinners, and redemption. Gabrielle has struggled with the repercussions of a past that forever changed her outlook on the future. Meeting Pascal was a bonus in Gabrielle’s plan for revenge. There wasn’t anything in those plans that included falling in love, but Gabrielle is facing the pull of her heartstrings with each passing day.

Prepare yourself to experience the heartache that lies behind the doors of the Dumont compound. The mayhem will definitely pull you into Gabrielle’s story, and leave you hoping for a brighter future. A great way to end the series!!

Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

How do you take a character who does some pretty despicable things on the page and make him sympathetic and the romantic hero of your final book in a trilogy set in the dangerous world of high French fashion? Well, you humanize him of course. You offer his psychology and you pair him with a woman who bears the strength of character to bring him to his knees. Oh, and you call yourself Karina Halle, a powerhouse of romance writing.

If you had told me that I would empathize with Pascal, the hero of Disavow, the final book of Karina Halle’s Dumonts trilogy, I would have laughed in your face and called you crazy. What Pascal got up to in the first books of this trilogy, Discretion and Disarm, was dastardly and evil, to say the least. When I attended Book Bonanza in August of last year, I asked her about the books of this series. I had just read Discretion, Olivier’s story, and I was curious about the other two books in the trilogy. When she let it drop that the third book would be Pascal’s story, I was doubtful. I knew it could be a hard sell to accept Pascal’s story. I laughed nervously with her about it and said I was intrigued. Knowing that it was coming, I saw the way in which she began to soften Pascal a bit in Blaise’s Disarm. She showed us that there was a little bit of humanity in him, but she didn’t allow him to fall deeply into it until Disavow. And to be fair, it takes a bit of the story before you can see Pascal in a different light, when you can accept him as the hero of his story. Even then, Pascal would best be designated as an anti-hero. However, it’s that designation that makes him the most interesting Dumont.

One of my favorite aspects of romance involves the alpha-aggressive hero becoming unraveled. Call it my kink, but the softening soul and heart of a seeming irredeemable man at the hands of a strong insightful heroine does something for me. I wasn’t sure if I would feel this for Halle’s Pascal, but her careful crafting of his character in this story illustrates her talent in romance writing. We shouldn’t like him, but you can’t help but fall for him. Now, to be fair, my favorite Dumont hero after reading the trilogy is still Blaise. There is just something magical about Blaise and Seraphina. However, Pascal’s redemption through the love of Gabrielle is special. It’s a reminder that love can save. The reason this works in Disavow is Halle’s ability to offer her readers Pascal’s’ psychology.

At its core, Disavow is a story of abuse. The resolution to the “mystery” of Ludovic Dumont’s death won’t be a surprise for anyone who has read the first two books of the trilogy. What becomes a bigger surprise is the depth of his brother Gautier’s evil. No one in this story has escaped his depravity. Each person’s life has been changed by his villainous actions, by his abuse, which means that his rule of terror is coming to a close. How this is dealt with in Disavow is incredibly satisfying, albeit a bit anti-climactic. However, for much of the book, the reach of his abuse of power illustrates the depth of hurt in the other characters, Pascal included. Once more is revealed about his relationship with his father, along with the revelation of Gabrielle’s story, Pascal’s humanity shows. It’s here where you will find the genius of Halle’s storytelling. We shouldn’t like him. Really. His stalking activities of Discretion and his actions against Olivier are terrible, but a humanized Pascal is one of the best things of the Dumont trilogy. Halle’s use of Gabrielle as the impetus for Pascal’s evolution shows the power of romance.

The second part of my “kink” in romance is the depth of power in a strong heroine. Gabrielle encapsulates this easily. Even in her weakness, Gabrielle is the fiercest character in the trilogy. Through her development, Halle exposes her readers to the truth and consequences of power and abuse. In Gabrielle, she gives her the power to change the story and its characters. She holds the greatest power in Disavow, and Gabrielle wields it responsibly, illustrating the determination and tenacity of women to effect change. It is ONLY because of Gabrielle that we can accept Pascal as the hero of Disavow, and it’s is the best depth of this story.

The best part of the final book of the Dumont trilogy, Disavow, is its ending. It is here where the humanity lies. It is here where we learn that relationships can heal and people can change and find their happy endings in the name of love. It is here where Halle reminds us why the genre of romance can both teach and titillate us.

*4.5 Stars*

Holy cow, I was waiting to see how Pascal could redeem himself, if at all. Getting inside his head and heart, watching him come to the point where he could be redeemed, was so great. This final book in the series ended with a bang and it was so enjoyable.

Gabrielle, left the Dumont estate years ago after horrible situations with Pascal's father. Her mother, the Dumont's maid, stayed behind. Now Gabrielle is back and ready to seek revenge and save her mother in the process. She planned on it being a quick trip but then when she takes the job as Pascal's maid/personal assistant, she quickly realizes she needs to adjust her plans.

Working so closely to Pascal, she realizes what kind of man he really is. Pascal is quickly fascinated by Gabrielle and feels the ice surrounding his heart, thawing. He learns that he doesn't have to end up like his father and more importantly, he doesn't want to end up like him.

I loved watching these two come together as unlikely allies as their chemistry and connection grow stronger. This was such a great redemption story and the epilogue was the perfect ending to the series.

Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

Brilliant ending to a fabulous series.
Disavow is the third and last book in The Dumonts series by Karina Halle, it’s also the hardest book to like, never mind fall in love with the H. Pascal has been in both previous books (Discretion#1 and Disarm#2). He was not portrayed as a likable man. In fact, he was terribly easy to hate, so Ms. Halle had set herself quite the task in reversing how the reader would feel about this man. It’s hardly surprising he’s the way he is, though given the parents he has. Cold and unfeeling are the kindest words to describe those two. Evil, malicious and vindictive is more appropriate, though.
But, even in his own book, Pascal initially comes across as a little bit spoilt and entitled, until he is re-acquainted with Gabrielle Caron, a young girl from his past, who was his father’s maid and had disappeared suddenly several years before.
Gabrielle has come home after being away for eight years. She’d have stayed away forever but she’s worried about her mother and has come back to make sure she’s okay. Gabrielle has a past in this mansion that she doesn’t want to confront, but why Pascal tricks her into becoming his assistant and maid, she has no choice.
Both are struggling with the past in their own way. Pascal knows he’s done some bad things and being with Gabrielle only makes him see them for what they were. Plus, there’s all the nasty business with his father and the death of his uncle the previous year.
Gabrielle hasn’t lived the wealthy life that Pascal has, she’s see the ugly side of life and isn’t interested in starting anything with Pascal, but the more she spends time with him, the more she sees the ‘real’ man hiding in plain sight. She brought out the best in him, and their chemistry was as scorching as could be expected.
This book being the last, had the job of tying up all the loose ends and a face to face with Gautier, the true villain of the piece in every sense of the word. I enjoyed that part immensely and loved seeing Pascal reunited with his brother and cousins.
One-Click this book today, but only if you’ve read books 1 & 2 first, otherwise, indulge your bingeing and grab all three together.

Five Stars for ‘Disavow’ (The Dumonts, Book 3) by Karina Halle (slight spoilers)

Many thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance, and Karina Halle for an ARC in exchange for an honest book review of ‘Disavow’ (The Dumonts, Book 3). My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advance copy.

Synopsis: “From New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle comes a seductive novel of riches, romance, and redemption.

In the Dumont fashion empire, no heir has a reputation as decadent, arrogant, and ruthless as that of Pascal Dumont. Every transgression, an indecent pleasure. Every woman, a conquest. And none is more challenging than his new personal assistant, Gabrielle Caron. She’s defiant, alluring, and a mystery Pascal can’t wait to solve.
A former family servant and daughter of the head maid, Gabrielle’s returned as suddenly as she left eight years ago. No longer an awkward teen, the ethereal young beauty has amassed a wealth of resolve. She’ll need it. In hire to the devilishly charming scion, she’s come back for one reason only. And she dare not whisper why.
But as the nights grow more intimate at the Dumont maison, Gabrielle realizes that the last man she believed in is the one man she can trust with her secrets. For Pascal, falling in love means more than his own redemption. It could mean saving Gabrielle’s very life as they confront a dark and scandalous past…together.”

Wow. What an incredible book. Karina Halle has redeemed Pascal Dumont, wrapped up a three-book series with a nail-biting tale of suspense and done it all while giving us a beautiful romance with a backdrop of Paris and Mallorca. I was positive I was NOT going to like Pascal. How could I after all the nefarious deeds he performed in Discretion and Disown? I don’t know why I ever doubt Karina Halle: Pascal Dumont’s story of redemption is a bold and honest epic master class in how to redeem a villain. Gabrielle is a fierce, strong but vulnerable character. She's definitely Pascal's equal in every way. She is able to make Pascal take a look at his life and see things for what they truly are. There are a lot of twists that I was *not* expecting. It’s great when that happens. I don’t want to give too much away. The ending is everything you want it to be for this series. Pascal actually made me cry. I think he’s actually now my favorite character in the whole series. I really was not expecting that when I was first introduced to him in Discretion. Brava to Karina Halle! I highly recommend this book and this series to everyone who is a fan of romance, suspense, mystery, murder, travel, exotic locations, family tales, decadence and love.

„Your name doesn’t dictate what you do or don’t do. Your will does.”

It's hard for me to say goodbye to the Dumonts series, but I'm doing it with a grin on my face, because Karina Halle left the best for last! Don't get me wrong, I love all the parts in this trilogy, but it’s Disavow that had the biggest impact on me because I could feel that Pascal's story would be something shocking and mind-changing. From the first book in the series we knew him as an anti-hero, whose moral backbone left much to be desired, but learning his backstory his character was not a surprise at all.

The fact that Pascal was the son of the devil incarnate resulted in decisions and actions that from a moral point of view were terrible and unforgivable. But Pascal has something that his father lacks - a conscience. And it forced him to question his own doings and ask himself if he really wants to turn into ruthless and evil man like his father. We could get glimpses of Pascal’s vulnerability, which showed how he suffered from his strict upbringing. We could also see the longing for a normal life after he fell for Gabrielle. And that was something that made me cheer on him, because falling in love stripped him somehow from bad traits and showed the real man he is- protective, caring and (surprise!) loving.

My heart was hurting for Gabrielle, who got back to France to seek justice for all the horrible things that happened to her in the past. What she didn’t expect was to fall for the man she was working for- infamous Pascal Dumont. Being close to him allowed her to get to know the real him and to show him that there’s more to life than power and wealth.

Two people who were hurt by the same person, connected by the need to close the door on the past. The road to redemption, revenge and closure. With the sizzling chemistry, incredible passion and purpose, Gabrielle and Pascal became a force to take down the tormentor.

Karina ended this series phenomenally. She gave us not only the great romance between Gabrielle and Pascal, but she also epically solved the mystery that had me at the edge of the seat from the first book. Dumonts is a trilogy that’s a MUST READ. It’s suspenseful, heart-gripping and super steamy. And Disavow is a perfect ending for the incredible journey Karina Halle took us.

Disavow is such a great ending to this dark and suspenseful series.
Surprisingly there are still quite a few surprises along the way, and the biggest shock is we get to see a side to Pascal that you never ever thought was possible. All the loose ends get tied up nicely and we get a romance full of banter and passion between Gabrielle and Pascal, but with a slightly sad and emotional backstory.
The story was one that kept me interested enough to care about what happened to it's characters and I loved all the drama, rivalry and secrets that lead to betrayal, it's what the Dumonts were all about, they were ruthless to gain power of their family empire and didn't care how they got ahold of it.
Brilliant storytelling as always from Katrina Halle and another amazing series to add to her already extensive back catalogue of great stories.

Disavow is the third book in Dumont trilogy. If you’re a sucker for villains, this is the book for you. It has some darker subjects. It’s a little addicting at times. There is some suspense in it that made my tummy have all kinds of reactions. I wanted to look away, but I couldn’t. 😳 Not a bad conclusion to the series.

I voluntarily read an early copy.

If you have read the previous books in the series than the one thing that you do know is that Pascal is the man you love to hate. He is determined to achieve his goals and he has no regard for what he has to do or who gets caught in the crossfire whether you be friend, family or foe until a woman from his past will have him questioning everything.

Not only did Gabrielle’s mother work for the Dumont but they lived there as well. At her first opportunity she left and was determined to leave the memories of what happened there behind but now she has come full circle. She is now back working for Pascal and determined to right the wrongs of the past.

What neither of them expected or were prepared for were the feelings and heat that would exist between them. He was supposed to be a means to an end and she was supposed to be another woman he loved and left but instead they found a love they never expected but for them to have a future they must first deal with the past.

I loved Disavow even though Pascal was never a favorite of mine. But in this one you see a more raw and real side. I love how he is trying to set things right for the Dumont name. I love Gabrielle so much. Just her strength alone will get you. There is such genuine chemistry between Pascal and Gabrielle as she returns to work in the Dumont home. As they slowly get to know each other you see such wonderful changes in both as they heal over their pasts together. Gabrielle and Pascal just work so well together. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. I even shed a happy tear at the end.

4 1/2 "Redemptive" Stars!!

Oh Ms. Halle!! I really didn't think you could do it but you made me like Pascal!! I thought there was no way you could redeem him for me....but you worked your magic and bam!!

Pascal had done horrible things in the books prior to this. It always appeared that he enjoyed being his father's accomplice ....let's just say all was not as it appeared. Pascal really does have a heart and it takes a beautiful woman named Gabrielle to help him discover that it still beats.

I think this was probably my favorite book of the series. It's hard to not love a bad boy turned good - especially when he rides to the rescue of his damsel in distress. I don't want to give away too much of this story but let's just say that Pascal makes some difficult decisions and discoveries in this book. They aren't easy but they seem to make him a stronger man.

I know people will say you can read this as a standalone and you can....but it is a richer experience if you read these books in order. You get all of the history for each character and know how they got to the place they are now. Since they are a family, it is meaningful.

Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake and Ms. Halle for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 'You are my redemption' Stars!
ARC provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Never thought I’d see the day that Karina Halle would make us fall in love with Pascal Dumont but that has happened! If you read the previous books in this series, I am sure you know Pascal was not the best of men. He was infamous like his father. Or is he? Will he finally open his eyes if the right woman appears in his life? If you want to find out, you have to read the conclusion of this scandalous and suspenseful series!

Disavow is the third and final installment in Karina’s The Dumonts series and, as I said, we get the story of the anti-hero: Pascal Dumont. Pascal is his father’s right hand, he is arrogant, ruthless and does not care about the consequences of his and his father’s actions. Enter Gabrielle Caron, his new personal assistant and the daughter of the Dumonts’ head maid that disappeared suddenly years ago. But she is not back to work for Pascal, she has other reasons. What these two don’t expect is the chemistry between them. Will love win or will it be darkness?

He’s got quite an unusual way of looking at you, always has. Like he can see right through you, but it’s also more than that. Like he knows all your secrets, and plans on using them against you later.

This is surely the darkest installment in the series. We are finally inside Pascal Dumont’s head and it’s not a happy place. We are able to peel the layers of his personality and get to know why he is the way he is. Is he that bad? Does he have conscience? Does he care? Gabrielle changes everything for him. But Gabrielle herself has her own demons and that demon happens to be the same one as Pascal’s. She is secretive and mysterious, she is scared but she is also strong after everything that’s happened. And Pascal cannot stop himself from wanting her.

I have this woman, and I have to wonder if this is what I’ve been missing out on my whole life.

Gabrielle has plans, plans that involve getting herself and her mother out of the Dumonts’ house. But not without getting what she wants first. But she falls in love with Pascal in the process and that changes things. Their connection and chemistry is beautiful and explosive and that is stopping her plans. Revenge is a very strong force and it makes its way in. Things get dark towards the end and Disavow is not easy to read at times but it’s definitely worth it.

She wanted to fix me? Well, she has. She has made me become the person I needed to be, the person I was always afraid to be.

Therefore, I am rating Disavow with 4.5 STARS because Karina did a wonderful job with the final book in her Dumonts’s series. Pascal’s redemption was everything I expected and so much more. Do I dare say he is my favorite of the Dumonts? Pascal’s back story, Gabrielle’s demons and the strong connection between them make this book such an exhilarating read. It surely gets intense but I am so glad these two found each other! I quite enjoyed this series and if you enjoy suspense, sexiness and emotions running high, you should check these books out!

Disavow
The Dumonts, Book 3
By: Karina Halle

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

In the final book in the Dumont’s saga we get to find out if Pascal Dumont has even one redeeming thing about him. He’s made sure he’s hated by his entire family and could careless about friends. However is all of it an act or could his indifference be him hiding from pain from rejection or the cruel man who raised him. Can this monster find his redemption in the beautiful Gabrielle? What will happen when he cares about her pain and needs her to become a better man or will he stay the monster people expect him to be?

The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shocking moments. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

I didn't think it could be done, but Karina Halle proved me wrong in a big way. Pascal Dumont has been redeemed. But holy wild ride! Disavow was dark and dangerous, devious and downright delicious.

I adored Gabrielle from the start. Her will and grit. Her kindness. Her willingness to put her own happiness and peace of mind on the line to protect her mother. Her fear. It was palpable, a live pulsing thing that I could feel pouring off the page. But there was something about Pascal that calmed her. Centered her. Made her feel safe when she didn't know what was lurking around the corner. It was why she opened up to him about the tragedy of her past.

But it was truly Pascal who shone in this book. How hard he worked. Not just at his job but at himself. To be someone he could be proud of. To mend fences and build bridges with his family. To be worthy of someone as lovely as Gabrielle. It was the moments that he was tender with her that made me melt. How he didn't look at her as 'the help' but as a person who deserved to be cherished and protected.

And in the midst of two people falling in love for the first time, was all the lies and half truths that had been waiting to be exposed. When all was revealed, my head was spinning at the maliciousness of it all. Hats off to Karina Halle for keeping me guessing on how everything would pan out to the bitter end. Holy heart pounding, that final showdown left me breathless. And the way it all ended, sigh...no loose ends and nothing but hope and promises of a happy future.
