I really enjoyed this book. Read it in a couple of sitting and couldn’t put it down! Grabbed me from the first chapter. I loved Lola’s character and Dean too. I’m glad with the ending of the book in a lovely lighthouse setting, I will definitely look out for Portia’s next book. Thank you for accepting my request.

A fun read for a rainy afternoon.

Lola James, wedding planner extraordinaire, planned and organised her over demanding, best friend's completely OTT wedding, even managing to supply a swan ring bearer. During the reception, Lola falls off her towering shoes and breaks a leg,

She's now confined to a wheelchair for six weeks, unable to return to her flat because of stairs, her boyfriend disappears on yet another business trip (that's a euphemism) and none of her friends show any concern in her plight. Lola's only choice is to call for help from her parents in Yorkshire where they run a B&B in Marram Bay. Stuck in her family home and helpless in her wheelchair, she decides to turn her organising skills to matchmaking and immediately finds two likely candidates.

A light-hearted rom-com with an eye catching book cover.

A couple things I loved about this book. Returning to child home after life falls apart. New romance and rekindled relationships. Quirky secondary characters. I really enjoyed Lola and Dean throughout. I also need to have a crisp sandwich asap.

A quick and easy read. No major twists , nice cute boy meets girl story. The characters were likeable and the description of the scenery realistic. Perfect entertainment

It was lovely to be back on Hope Island and in Marram Bay. If you haven't read any of Portia MacIntosh's books set in this stunning location before then not to worry this stands completely alone, but if you have there is something rather familiar about the place, even with all new characters.

I loved the way Lola managed to break her leg, it was so mundane and yet showstopping as such, with accusations of her attention seeking. It's in the aftermath of this accident where Lola realises she will have to move back to Hope Island with her parents as none of her friends, or even boyfriend want anything to do with her while she is in pain and in a wheelchair. And from this she starts to realise that maybe her London life isn't all she thought it was.

For once she stopped feeling like a helpless child and her mum co-erces her into using her matchmaking prowess on a group a locals, or at least help them to be able to date on their own accord, that her days start to have a purpose again, and she involves herself in the lives of the group.

There are a couple of potential love interest for Lola, the dishy doctor and the kind hearted policeman, one of which was my favourite from the outset and I was hoping that would be the direction the story took.

I loved the dynamics of the group of people all who would like to meet the loves of their lives. It is a great varied group and the scenes they are in are really entertaining. Then there is also drama involving Lola's parents, and their new chef is coming up with some delicious sounding food.

It's just all round a really enjoyable story, and I had a great time reading it.

Thank you to HQ Digital and Netgalley and for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

A complete delight. A dance of emotions and old grudges come into play in this story. Sisters both chafing under different circumstances , but bound by past responsibilities and beliefs. Into the mix comes a handsome new neighbor who is also reaching for solid footing in a new position on the response team. Every element you could want is here,a little romance, a lot of tension and a no nonsense character to round it all out.

This is the first book I have read by Portia MacIntosh and I look forward to reading all of her back catalogue. It was a thoroughly joyful light read.

Lola is Chief Bridesmaid at her best friends wedding - a wedding that makes all other weddings pale into insignificance - she has a swan as a ring bearer!!! What she didn’t plan for was to face plant the dance floor and break her leg. The bride is furious - how could Lola upstage her like that. She also soon finds out that her boyfriend of 9 months is not going to be as attentive as she thought he would be and suggests she finds one of her many friends to help look after her. Cue excuses from her so called friends and her work telling her to rest until she is back on her feet - all this leads to her returning to her childhood home Hope Island for her parents to look after her.

I absolutely loved this book! I read it in no time and could not put it down! The characters are all very likable and sweet and you always want to know what’s going to happen next. Definitely a must read if you are looking for a good chick lit book to read!

I've read two other books by Portia MacIntosh before and always had a good time with them. That was also the case here, I do like her writing style, and her characters are lovely. The setting in a small seaside town is idyllic as well.

But the plot was this time not particularly imaginative or special. Lola's job, how her mum organises the Unmatchables-group, how she later throws them all off the premises because of a minor incident, how Lola never reconnects with her former best friend, how she says that she is very disappointed in the man she went out with only once - but at the same time doesn't act very disappointed, the drama about the secretiveness of her dad, the sudden anger of Dean about respecting his privacy... On it's own only small details but all in all too much.

Unfortunately, also the B&B in the Lighthouse that features so prominently in the title plays no significant role in the story.
Still, I felt good being in Marram Bay and chaperon Lola and Dean a bit.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book

This was my second book of Portia's, and she's really found favour with me as an author. I enjoyed this immensely.

I found Lola to be a little bit of a wallflower, a pushover, but I loved her helpful nature too. Her family are also endearing, even if her mother can be quite overbearing at times. I'm not sure I'd last quite as long as Lola did in her time with them.

I'm not a huge love triangle fan, and I don't really enjoy reading them. While this one was done quite well, as in it didn't always feel like a triangle, I still wasn't super hype for it.

Definitely recommending this, however.

After a freak accident Lola finds herself back in her parents home being nursed better. Until her mum declares she is getting in the way and volunteers her services to a group of singles looking to meet someone special. Lolas job in London was essentially a matchmaker, so what could go wrong? Here we meet a variety of quirky characters looking for love. But love sometimes catches you off guard and it happens to be found where you least expect it.

What a delightful story. I read this in one sitting.
