HERS TO TAME is a very intriguing read that will allow readers to enjoy the feel and vibe of New Orleans, the world of the rich and criminal. But, even the questionable characters know how to love and protect their own and encourage them to be the best they can and be happy. You will see that as Kir encourages Cassie to move on and do what she loves most. Of course, there is romance that is sweet and ultra steamy and a lot of danger and schemes of revenge that will have hearts racing. You will love these bad men who know how to love and protect their women, friends, and families.

I’ve not read the first book, but I don’t think you need to worry too much.

Kir use to be a bodyguard for the Bratva, now he runs a crew of his own, but he’s not the boss, that title belongs to his brother Sergei “His to defend” although not blood brothers, they guard each other’s backs and love each other like brothers.
After watching Sergei fall for Evette, Kir longs for the same connection with a woman, but his past won’t allow that to happen (being sold into a Bratva as a young boy changed him) so Kir settles down to fact he will remain alone.

Cassie is a reporter but, she’s not really had a good story in a while. She needs a fresh story, but going back to a source she used before maybe difficult. But if she needs to stay at the top of her game, Cassie is going to have to swallow her pride and ask the one man she walked away from.

Almost from the moment they reconnect you can see that Kir wants Cassie on a permanent basis. Not just as help finding out who killed a member of his crew, but as a companion, maybe even more of a commitment!!! He makes plans to show her his world and his family.

Cassie really likes Kir, but she knows about his background and is very wary, but after meeting his “family”, she sees a different side to the Bratva and Kir. But there is her job to consider! Won’t people wonder how she got her stories? And will they assume they will favour Kir and his family?

But there is the murder to solve, and Cassie’s involvement may put her in the firing line! Is someone targeting her? Kir? Or the whole Bratva?

I liked this book, in fact I’m off to find the first book.
The sex isn’t too over the top, and there is isn’t too much either😉
The connection between Sergei and Kir got me wanting to find out more, and what made the boss man fall for Evette, and then there is Roman (another group leader) he’s as close to Sergei as Kir is (and rumour has it, that his book is next)

I’d recommend this book all day long. The plot flows really well. Characters are a delight to read about.
And doing research on the author I found a series in which a lot of characters that we meet in this book are from (so this in theory is a spin off series) but you don’t need to read it, it just gives you more info on the characters. But I think that’s another series to be added to my never standing TBR list 😉

Hers to Tame is the second book in the NOLA Knights series by Rhenna Morgan. A captivating romance that pulls you into the drama and undeniable chemistry from the very beginning. The characters are relatable, real, and well-written. They pull you into the story making it easy to get lost in the fast-paced read. Every girl's dream of the perfect alpha and Morgan delivers with a deliciously written romance that will leave you wanting more!  While this is part of the NOLA Knights series. it can easily be read as a standalone novel.

Super story and super hot in parts. Kir is a total alpha. Yum.
~~~~~~
There’s something about an alpha hero with that little bit of dark edge to him. That intensity and all consuming heat was perfectly developed in this delicious character.
Kir is a complete take control kinda guy and is making sure Cassie doesn’t slip away again. When trouble comes to her door, he finds the perfect opportunity to make sure that he’s the only one protecting her.
The author brings a steamy story of the one who got away and the hot ass gentleman who turns up her heat index. But is he really who he says he is? Or are the rumors right about his family?
Great story, complex characters, and a perfect ending makes this one to enjoy!
After falling in love with Sergei, I think I have a new favorite mafia mobster! Kir is Sergei's right hand, responsible for taking care of Sergei's family. Having had a very rough youth, he is committed to his chosen family and determined to keep them from harm.
Cassie is a struggling reporter, who wants to make a name for herself. Doubted by her family and regarded the black sheep, she wants to make her family proud by being the best reporter and becoming an news anchor. While investigating the mafia families in her city, she met Kir. A terribly handsome man, who has helped her with some news scoops. But when she realized Kir had ties with one of the mafia families, she didn't want to jeopardize her career, so she ghosted him.
While investigating a case, Cassie and Kir meet again. And now Kir realizes he doesn't want to let Cassie go again. So he goes into pursuit. When a killing occurs in Kir's chosen family and Cassie is in danger of being to close to the truth, Kir decides to keep her safe. Up close, Cassie now meets Kir's family. And for the first time, she feels accepted and like she belongs somewhere. But what will the prize be if she associates with the mafia? Is she willing to pay that price? Or will she walk away again? And will Kir let her?
Find out for yourself whether the absolute swoon worthy Kir will take matters in his own hand and convince Cassie. Five out of five stars from me and I can't wait for part three of the NOLA Knights. Thank you Netgalley for providing the arc.
This is the second book in the NOLA Knights series. We met Kir in the previous story. He is the right hand man to Sergei the head of the Russian mafyia in New Orleans. His brothers by choice are his family and he will do anything to protect them.
He meets Cassie some time back as she is reporting on the death of another crime boss. They come back together when Kir needs her help flushing out who might be coming after his family. Sparks fly and soon, much to everyone's delight--Kir looses his cool over this sassy woman.
there is suspense and romance and humor and family in this story. All great things. We catch up on Sergei. We get to see the Haven team and their strong women. And we get to watch an alpha male fall head over heals in a swoon worthy fashion over the one woman who is IT for him.
Love everything about this world. So happy the author saw a need to spin this off of the Haven series. Roman's story should be fantastic as well!
Hers to Tame is the second book in the NOLA Knights series. I enjoyed His to Defend, the first in the series, and I looked forward to this next romance. Kir is the perfect hero, with a sexy Russian possessiveness. Cassie is an intelligent, independent heroine, who faces trouble with determination and resilience. And then there are the cameo appearances by the Men of Haven characters, and I adored each one of them. But something was lacking, it was just flat to me. I read the story a second time, and I still can’t figure out why I’m not in love with this story. I was going to read it a third time, but I finally decided I had to stop procrastinating and write an honest review. It’s not a bad book, it’s just not a page turner for me. I can see where Rhenna has planted the seeds of a plot for the next in the series, and I look forward to that one. I received an advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in the NOLA Knights series and it was just as good as the first.Kir Vasilek has seen bad things happen to his father in the name of love. He doesn’t get involved with more than a one night stand. When he meets Cassie he breaks his own rule.
The worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves.
Cassie McClintock is a reporter. They had a few encounters then Cassie found out Kir was connected to the New Orleans mafia and cut things off.
“I am an honorable man, and—no matter my line of work or present affiliations—you will always be safe within my care”
Let me tell you when these Russian Alpha’s make up there minds that’s it. Game Over!! Your Mine!!
Talk about swoon worthy hero.
Aunt Frieda is quirky and sassy. She fits right in with the Haven family.
I was hoping Bonnie would be the next heroine so Whoo Hoo!! Roman watch out.
I’m not real big on what most people call mafia romance but this one is perfection.
Hers To Tame by Rhenna Morgan was FANTASTIC! I guess if you're a regular reader of Rhenna you know that already.
Hers To Tame is the second book in her NOLA Nights series. The first book in the series, His to Defend, is a spinoff from her Men of Haven series. Sergei Petrovyh is the pahkan in New Orleans.
Hers to Tame features Kir, one if Sergei's enforcers and Cassie, a news reporter. Their chemistry was AH-Mazeballs. I loved that Cassie wasn't a pushover. I also loved that Kir was bad ass, loveable, caring and a complete alpha!
There's not a lot of angst but this book is filled with action and doesn't leave you bored. There's most definitely a HEA! Another great book from one of my absolute one click authors. Rhenna can seriously write anything (from paranormal to Russian mafia) but she specializes in creative love stories that have steam, action, alphas and most of all, love.
Five amazing alpha goodness stars!!! Kir is beyond the perfect hero...he’s what other heroes strive to be!
”When Russian men decide who they want, they’ll move heaven, hell and the big bad wolf all at once to make them theirs.”
Eight months ago, Cassie began to make a name for herself with the release of several news stories involving one of New Orleans’ questionable citizens. It was no coincidence that Kir was a large resource during her work on the case. However, when his own character and connections are called into question, she ghosted him, leaving him with no explanation. Now, her well is dry and she’s struggling to stay on her professional feet. Perhaps it’s time to confront the man that has held way too many thoughts in her mind.
Cassie had a lot of hang ups regarding her professional and lifestyle choices, all of them due to her family. As the underachiever and black sheep, she’s lived life in constant turmoil, never measuring up to their expectations. All of this shines through in her thoughts and insecurities. She wasn’t your typical tough heroine, but when she needed to be strong, she was more than capable.
As for Kir...there are not enough words to describe him. He was totally swoon worthy in that he cared for Cassie in a way that you don’t see a lot of heroes do, even when they’re the strong alpha type. She was first in everything and he never hesitated to let her know exactly where she stood with him. Protective, possessive, with a few instances of jealousy, he was so sweet, kind and caring that I was a drooling mess.
”It’s not about fair, milaya. Where I come from, a man with any semblance of honor will always look out for the woman he is with.”
While this is centered around a mystery that added a bit of drama, the crux of the story is the romance and Cassie’s acceptance of Kir and the family. A lot of the excitement surrounding the bad guy is off page, and while I did feel a bit cheated by that, I was thrilled at Cassie’s response. She really grew throughout this book and it was completely believable.
This also has some wonderful secondary characters, most from the first book as well as books from the Men of Haven series, but it also introduced us to the potential for a new heroine that I want, badly. Included was Cassie’s Aunt Frieda who was just as amazing as this author’s other older women/mother figures. She was a real hoot and I hope we see more of her as well.
Overall, this was a wonderful story, filled with emotion and blooming with romance all wrapped up in an alpha’s arm.
3.5*
Having loved the previous book His to Defend. I was really looking forward to starting this.
And it’s a fabulous little read. I liked all the characters. Especially Kir. Cassie is also a strong intelligent female.
Why only 3.5*?
I’m not sure.
It’s a nice easy and enjoyable read.
I don’t know how to explain it. I just felt like something was missing.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley.
Gentleman alert! That's right, our hero is one of those rare gentleman's that we love and adore! He opens the door for women. He walks her to her door. He picks her up from her house and drives her to their destination. He takes care of her car for her. Why can't we get more heroes like Kir??? We NEED more men like him.
To say the least, I loved this book, and I could say it is all due to Kir, but we actually have a really admirable heroine as well. I love that she is the perfect woman for a man like him. He deserved to have someone who will appreciate who he is. There were a few times she questioned Kir's need to take care of her. Once you hear his response to these questions, you will fall even harder. This was an all around fantastic couple to read about.
Well done, Rhenna Morgan. Well done.
Oh. Em. Gee!!!!!!! Yes, yes and OMG, YES!!!!! I've been dying to read this ever since I finished the first book in this series and let me just say that the wait was TOTALLY worth it!!!!
Kir is basically the right hand man for the head of the Russian Mafia in New Orleans (Read the first book). He spends most of his time making sure that everything falls in to place and runs as smooth as possible for his boss. So much so that by helping his boss with a situation, he was able to "help himself" to a beautiful young lady. But when she gave him the cold shoulder, he figured it better to cut his losses and forget. Except, words are easier said than done.
Cassie is a reporter for the local news television station. She's worked really hard to be where she is, but she's in a bit of a rut. Ever since she ran an exclusive last year, it's been harder and harder for her to find "the story". Let's not mention that she got the story because of an encounter with a certain hotter than sin man who happens to be in the Mafia. But after running fast in the opposite direction, will he even talk to her again? Only one way to find out...
This was so AMAZING!!!! Kir is seriously my new book boyfriend and I couldn't get enough of how incredibly strong Cassie was. She fought for what she wanted and didn't take no when she new she could get a better answer. The chemistry between these two is scorching hot, but the story kept those pages turning. I think I cried a little when I turned the last page, I wasn't ready for this to end!!!
An amazing, well written novel with stellar characters and plotline. Absolutely loved it. Couldn't put it down til I finished it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request for an ARC of this book. The review below is entirely my own.
I totally LOVED this book! It’s the second story in a the spin-off series from Rhenna Morgan's Men of Haven books. And it’s one of my favorite reads of 2020.
Kir is the kind of alpha-tastic mafiya book boyfriend that I absolutely adore. Gah, and the way he spoke to Cassie? OMG. Wow. Where can I get me some of that? 🔥🥰❤️
I thought that I was in love with Sergei (from book1) but I think Kir just bumped him right off. Kir has got a swoony, eloquent way of just making your heart melt and sigh. I loved him. LOVED HIM.
Cassie is Kir’s perfect complement. She’s smart and soft, yet tough and loyal in all the ways it counts. When she comes into her own, you can’t help but be thrilled for her. She has an awesome personality.
I couldn't put this book down. Stayed up reading way past when I needed to sleep but I don’t regret a thing.
I loved that there wasn't a lot of angst; but the plot had enough thrills/action to keep me interested. And boy! the chemistry between the MC’s was NOT lacking heat. Holy smokes! The sparks between Kir and Cassie were intense and volcano hot!
Such a great book, I tell you. And I cannot freaking wait for Roman and Bonnie’s book!
If you’re a fan of Ms Morgan, a fan of her Men of Haven series, a fan of the first NOLA Knights book, you have to read this one! You will fall in love with Kir and Cassie. You will grow to love Sergei, Evie, Roman, and Olga even more. You will get cameos from the Dallas peeps. Ahhhhhh. ❤️❤️❤️ I cannot say enough good things about this story. Just go out and grab it when it comes out. I highly recommend it.
AHHH!! I am obsessed with the NOLA Knights series. I loved Sergei and Evette in the first book and was so excited to read Kir's story. His connection with Cassie was absolutely AMAZING!! This story was so damn sexy and real. I loved the banter between them and how hot and fiery their attraction was!!
This book was absolutely fantastic! Cassie was so refreshingly honest and true. She was such a breath of fresh air. I loved how she was Kir's soft spot. It highlighted how important she was to him and the pivotal role she played in his life. Kir, likewise, was alpha and strong and so sexy. I loved him with Cassie and how they were a perfect match for one another! What an amazing story! I can not wait for Roman's story! Bravo!
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. 5 stars! ~Ratula
I think I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book. I really liked it, but for some of the same reasons I liked it, I found it kind of missing out on opportunities.
On one hand, I liked this a lot because there was not a whole lot of over the top drama. I liked getting to know Cassie, finding out what made her tick, and seeing her grow. Kir was great, but I almost felt like I didn't get enough of him. I also liked that there was not more sex than story, but then I felt like it could have used a bit more. I think it comes down to balance of story and romance for me.
Still, I liked the story and the ending was good. I guess I mostly missed a little bit of that over the top stuff... I wanted more excitement. But there is something to be said for a nice romance story that does not go too far over board with drama. There are also bonus points for the small doses of the family from Texas.
Hers To Tame is the second book in the NOLA Knights and is to be released March 2020. I was so excited to read this one here and Rhenna Morgan didn't disappoint in any way. *sigh* this series has had such a great start here and I like that it connects to her "Haven Brotherhood" series. I do have a weakness for mafia-type setups and Morgan has done such a superb job in how she has crafted this world and delivering such a swoony romance that any romance reader will be able to get on board with and cheer these characters on.
Our delightful story begins with Cassie McClintock and how she has just moved into a new house after saving and saving. She works as a journalist/reporter and even though she is good at what she does, her real passion is photography. But currently, that is an unachievable dream for Cassie. But after a conversation with her aunt, she discovers a need to resolve a past regret. Cassie fell hard for Kir Vasilek. But when she ignored his calls and voicemails because of certain reservations she had, she knew it was wrong not to come clean especially when there is a deep emotion that she feels for him. When she goes to Kir to apologize to him, an arrangement forms between them. Starts at first professional but turns into something deeper and stronger than she expected. But when her life is put in danger, there is a villain who wants it out for Cassie and her newfound family...but it will take trust, openness and her own smarts to defeat their enemy and embrace her new happy ever after....
Hers To Tame is an incredible story and I didn't think anything could top book one, but somehow Rhenna Morgan has achieved the impossible and made me fall more in love with Hers To Tame than His to Defend and I honestly didn't think that would happen. But alas, it has and I am more than thrilled with that outcome. Even if mafia styled romance isn't your jam....this is a series I couldn't recommend enough to any romance reader. Both of these characters have painful pasts in connection with their immediate family. There is a deep understanding between them in this aspect and the lengths they have both gone to to forge a new life for themselves.
The romance is pure deliciousness, the intimacy that builds between Kir and Cassie is so riveting and touching. Seeing them form their bond and what they overcome together is beautiful. I honestly couldn't get enough of these two and their romance. It definitely has all the happy moments you look forward to in a romance, but at the core of their relationship, it has such vibrancy and core strength that only vibrates throughout the whole story and outreaches to the reader in such a heartfelt way.
Another plus side to this story was seeing old characters come involved in the story and it was such fun to see all the connections that this author placed in the story that really fit just right in all the right ways. Seeing these supporting characters really brought the right "cream on top" feel to the story and the way they just open their arms to Cassie was delightful.
Overall I found Hers To Tame to be a tantalizing romance that delivers in plot, unique character development and a romance to wrap yourself in like a warm blanket on a cold winters night.....A JEWEL OF WARMTH AND SENSUALITY
Hers to Tame is book two in the NOLA Knights series by Rhenna Morgan. I need to say right here at the beginning that this book right here, this one, is why I read. This man, Kir, is all my very favorite heroes wrapped up in one delicious package. I love him so much. But in this book, he only has eyes for Cassie, and will stop at nothing until he makes her his.
Kir Vasilek is thirty six years old. He works for the most powerful man in organized crime in New Orleans, Sergei, whom you may have read about in the first book in this series. Kir’s family are the people he has chosen as his family, the people he surrounds himself with every day. His loyalty to these people knows no boundaries. He will do anything to keep them safe.
Cassie McClintock is twenty five and is a news reporter for a local TV station in New Orleans. She first met Kir several months ago when working on a story. Their chemistry was undeniable and they spent a couple of passion filled nights together. But when Cassie realized just who Kir worked for, she knew continuing to see him would be frowned upon by her network. So she cut ties.
Neither has ever forgotten the other. When their paths cross again, Kir knows he can’t let her walk away again. He never thought he would find what Sergei has. But with Cassie, he can see it all within his grasp. He just has to prove to her that he is worthy of her.
A death within Vir’s family gives him the reason he needs to keep Cassie close. She is just beginning to accept that Vir has other intentions for her when a threat surfaces. Now it becomes evident just how serious Vir is as he takes measures to keep her safe.
Cassie has never experienced a close knit family and with Vir’s family, she finds herself enveloped in their midst. They welcome her with open arms. She only has to let go of her insecurities from her past and accept them.
I never thought I’d react the way I did to Kir. He is so proper, his manner of speech so perfect. But every word out of his mouth made me melt. His protectiveness, the way he treated Cassie, his loyalty, all of it! The things this man said! Just Wow!
I couldn’t put this down as Cassie and Kir found their way together. Cassie’s Aunt Frieda was so much fun. And of course, we get some appearances from our beloved characters from the Men of Haven series. Rhenna Morgan seems to have the ability to pick out all the favorite things from my mind and write them into her books. How she does it, I don’t know. But what I do know is that I will continue to read her books. The next book in this series will be Roman’s story, Mine to Keep.
“My beauty.
My prize.
My heart.”
