A great heart pounding read. The story was very well written with great characters. It drew me in and I had it finished in one sitting. I would highly recommend this read. Nancy Herkness has another hit on her hands. Can’t wait to see what she writes next. Bring it on please. Happy reading everyone!

The Money Man had me enjoying the characters, Derek and Alice. It was a little bit of a slow start for me. I had to get almost half way to get captured by the story. I knew though that the story had something that was building up. I just wished I could had clicked with the story from the first chapter.

What I did like...the drama, suspense, and the angst. I couldn't picture Alice without Derek as their "time together" kept growing into something more. The ending was the best part. Your heart is pounding and then it ends. I had a warm feeling in my heart and a smile that would not stop. A good read,

A love story involving two accountants? Ok, why not! I'm an accountant after all.

Alice, ann accountant, finds a little missmatch. Whenever she looks into it, it always pops out. She reaches out to a firm called KRG to help with this seemingly unsolvable bookkeeping problem. She has no idea the hunky owner himself would investigate the issue. When she meets Derek, the attraction is intoxicating. In the events that follow, they both find themselves in great danger.

The book is written very well, and there's something charming about this story as well. I really did like it.

Will a bookkeeper working han in hand with an accountant find her happily ever after when her life’s securities are shattered...

I do remember when I meet Mrs Nancy Herkness in Paris two years ago, she took part in a discussion about billionaires being the contemporary duke, and with the heroine dreaming of the hero as an imaginary duke, it is like reading a continuation of this talk.
Alice is an heroine like I love them, strong, resilient with some insecurities but able to stand for herself. Like me, she is addicted to Historical romance, well minus the billionaire mogul in close range.
Derek, despite his movie star’s good look, is no womanizer, he is more devoted to his business than anything else. But the more time passes, the more he feels unsatisfied. Why he subjected to offer free help and council to small business. So when Alice’s demand popped up, he nearly dismissed it as it being nothing, a fifteen minutes problem to solve.
From their first encounter, their chemistry reached the heights, and from there, they quickly cross the bridge, each stunned by the other, unable to let it go.
I loved to see them learning about one another, to win each other trust , growing in the other’s heart and soul. The background plot added to build up the tension, until it reached its peak.
Like the Wager of Heart series, it introduces I suppose the protagonists of the books to come, and I can’t wait to see what scenario Mrs Herkness will drag them in.
One thing is sure, the author did not disappoint, as unusual, a 5 stars story.

I was granted an advance copy by the publisher Montlake, and preordered my own. Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Steamy, smart and funny story about a dedicated book keeper who can’t find the small little mistakes that keep her clients from balancing. Reaching out to the software company did not get her any help. Therefore she took a chance on a successful large business KRG to see if their non profit help a small business own option would get her anywhere.
Alice is surprised when she is contacted by Derek Killion one of the founders of the company. Derek thinks this problem will take him 15 minutes to solve. Alice is surprised when Derek comes himself to examine her issue.

After reviewing all the data the conclusion is Derek has nothing. He decides it is time to get his partners involved,
Will Derek discover what is going on? Will he lose his heart in the process?

I really enjoyed the characters. Thank you Netgalley for complimentary copy. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have to admit that I just couldn't relate to this story. The idea is not bad, but it was simply boring and predictable. Numbers, some professional terms, bookkeeping ... I'm sorry, but I didn't enjoy it at all.
I doubted what grade I would give her because I may have been in a strange mood as I read it. In my opinion, this book deserves 3 stars. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this opportunity.

I enjoyed “The Money Man”, a feel good romantic mystery. Alice finds small discrepancies in her clients
Accounts while doing their books. Derek is bored at work and starts a philanthropic accounting service to renew his interest and excitement. Together with Dereks’ colleagues and Alice’s friends they try to
Unravel the missing money trail and solve the mystery. If you are already a follower of Nancy Herkness you won’t be disappointed and will be left anticipating the next Consultant.

Nancy Herkness has a killer book here with The Money Man. The thing that I wanna start off by saying is that, my day job is that of a bookkeeper. So, when there were talking about software that would integrate cashless information and balancing with software verses paper and pen, I was really into it. I understood what they were doing. I know what they were talking about most of the time, but I don’t know what the others that are just reading it casually will take from it. In the book, they talk about how they like numbers because they are consistent. And I’ve said that several time. So, career accurate.
Now, lets talk about the storyline now that I’ve fangirled over the career of the main characters. Oh, wait… okay so the entire point is that the bookkeeper discovers bookkeeping errors that allow for her to contact this larger company to consult with her. Which is pretty great. Even then, she still uncovers the truth because sometimes you have to do a thorough audit.
Bad guys are out to get the girl. The guy is super smart and acknowledges her super smartness. They both do work and research along with the rest of the team to get to the nitty gritty of the scheme. There is a lot of really interesting badassary of its own kind in here that we have to look at. There is a lot of times that you really know that things are going to go bad at some point.
This is a great bit of sexiness in the story here. There are sexy times with, not an alpha male, but the guy next door. Derrick is the guy that we all wish could be our guy. He’s busy with a company and still wants to be involved with her. He wants to protect her but without the “Me Tarzan, You Jane” attitude that is so common it seems these days. I love the story they share and the way that we know how they work together because, well, numbers bind them and keep them together.
Overall, this is a great story and I can’t wait to read the next stories in the series to see how these characters will also get their HEAs.
Peace and happiness!

Alice Thurber has always loved numbers. She wasn’t able to get a CPA degree, so Alice did the next best thing, she became a bookkeeper. Now Alice has her own small business with a good size amount of clients. Recently she attended a seminar that was geared towards small business owners, to assist them with computerized bookkeeping. Everything is going smoothly till Alice notices a small discrepancy of three dollars here, two dollars in another account. Because she is so precise, Alice knows there is a problem, and reaches out to KRG, a high powered consulting firm that helps small business owners. When Derek Killion shows up at her house to talk about the problem she came across, Alice is blown away at his movie star good looks.

When Derek Killion and his two partners started their company, KRG, they started with nothing. Now a multi million dollar company, he’s never forgotten where he came from, starting a small business initiative to assist those that don’t have the funds. After talking with Alice on the phone, Derek is intrigued and makes an appointment to see her. What he wasn’t expecting is this alluring woman with glasses, coming across as the sexy librarian. From the beginning he is drawn to her and her mind. Realizing that Alice has stumbled on a scheme to steal from small business owners, Derek brings in his two partners to assist in figuring out the problem.

Working together to figure out this scheme, they become closer and realize their feelings for each other, and the danger that is ahead.
I loved this book! It has romance, sex, and a bit of espionage! Nancy has done it again with another hit!

This is my first read from the author and I wasn't disappointed. First of all that cover....
Alice is a self employed bookkeeper who works from home and keeps her little world well ordered and for good reason. Reasons you find out as her backstory unravels throughout the book. When she finds several discrepancies is several of her regular accounts, she's befuddled. She likes her books to balance right down to the penny. The amounts are so small, the business owners are not concerned however it bothers Alice to the nth degree, so much so when she finds an online site offering help to small businesses she sends an e mail to them. KRG is a large successful money handling business owned by three friends. This little business site was Dereks idea as a way to give back to small businesses because they too had their share of issues when they started up. Derek takes on this request from Alice thinking it would be an easy fix, while he's also trying to stay on top of a very large account they just acquired, one that demands his full attention. He contacts her, the two go back and forth on problem solving and what looked like an easy fix becomes a lot more complicated when the issue seems to be with the newly acquired bookkeeping software each of the business owners are using, including Alice. When one of Derek's partners who does the IT aspect of their business discovers some serious problems and who may be behind it, the issue involves all three partners now. Add to that is keeping Alice safe, not easy for someone who needs her well ordered world to survive.
This book was just enough mystery to keep me interested, and flipping those pages and moreover well written, fully developed characters. All were interesting and I am definitely interested in getting to know Derek's two partners. Nicely done twists and turns and a great ending. Yes I want more!
I'm ringing in with a 4.5 on this one.

For a book about two accountants this was way more exciting than I was expecting. The intrigue behind the discrepancies and the investigation had me pretty hooked to the story.

The characters were a bit of fresh air as well. Despite both main characters being accountants, we didn't get the typical nerdy characters. I really liked that. They both still displayed some typical characteristics, more in the heroine than the hero but it was nice to see that they weren't a copy cat.

Derek is portrayed as very good looking but he didn't have the typical playboy behavior that came with that. Alice did have a big passion for regency romance and had two cats, but she was also not shy and had girlfriends she hung out with.

Plus we got a few side characters that added interest to the story. I liked them enough that I would love to see a story for each of them.

Overall, a fun read!

This book pulled me out of the reading doldrums I've been in. I loved the premise. Alice is a book keeper who owns a small business. While balancing books for her clients, she stumbles upon a glitch in the accounting software she's using. Not knowing what to do, she seeks assistance from a large consulting firm. Derek is one of the managing partners of the firm. He intends to help Alice quickly but is pulled in by her quiet intelligence and the software mystery.

Alice and Derek are inherently likable characters who have a lot of chemistry. I thought the suspense part of the plot with the forensic accounting was well done and fun to read.

First in a new series, and a pretty quick read. Couple of parts got a little winded but overall a good read that customers will like. Once introduced to this author, they tend to ask for more! This one will be no exception.

Regency ⭐️

I’ve found this gem on Netgalley and requested the arc based solely on the blurb. It seemed like my cup of tea, and I wasn’t wrong! I loved it!

As you might know already, this is the story of a bookkeeper who finds some issues with her clients’ finances. Desperate to find the root of the problem, she stumbles upon a program offered by a huge company in their field, meant to help out small CPAs like her. Only it appears the problem isn’t so easy to fix or to figure out, so when one of the founding members of that big company takes an interest, well, let’s just say that there will be a lot of balancing..

This is how Mrs. Herkness managed to spark my interest and get me hooked on her book. I was desperate to turn every page, as for the life of me I couldn’t put it down. It was incredibly exciting to see what was happening next.

My only “issue” with the story was the heroine’s passion for Regency romance novels, something is in a galaxy, far, far away from my liking. Those of you who know me will understand this, as historical romance is not something I’ll ever stomach. So every time the heroine will compare the hero with a Duke or mention the word “regency” i’ll shudder.
Besides this, I liked everything. Well, maybe not the descriptions like “her insides turned liquid with pure want”, but again, I truly enjoyed the whole story and the characters when they found sexual innuendos in mathematics. Highly entertaining!

Wow...Nancy Herkness has done it again! I was amazed that her hero and heroine were from the the very unglamorous world of accountants n CPA's. Derek and Alice find a bond over their love of numbers and everything in it's order. Unbalanced ledgers turn it into a twisting intrigue that keeps a reader turning the pages. All the wonderful feels are here in true Nancy style. Nothing is overdone. Very quickly I became invested in the happiness of this pair. Very happy to give this five stars!!

Nancy Herkness writes interesting and engaging romance series. This new series is no exception to the rule. The plot is a blend of romance and suspense. I initially thought that Alice might irritate me but she proved to be written with depth and complexity. The relationship between the two main characters evolved quickly but believably. Both characters had friendships outside of their relationship that had interesting dynamics. I assume Derek's friends and colleagues will be central to the next books in the series.
I enjoyed this book very much and I look forward to the next one.

I absolutely love this book. I read a few reviews before I started reading and I realize everyone has their own taste in reading but some of the reviews I totally disagree with. I found the chemistry between Derrick and Alice to be fantastic. I thought the way they were brought together was so original and very sweet. Two educated, hard working accountants, that although having issues like most people, were drawn to each other. I found the storyline to be a page turner. I highly recommend this book.

Who Knew that Numbers Can Be Sexy and Make for a Great Story?

You like to immerse yourself in the adventures of a smart, empathetic, and vibrant heroine? Then we not only have something in common, but I have just the perfect book recommendation for you!

Nancy Herkness is a well versed and award-winning romance author, and her specialty are characters full of warmth and depth, whether in a leading or supporting role. With THE MONEY MAN, Herkness seems to tie back to her roots, as far as her debut novel. In its brilliance, THE MONEY MAN reminds me of A BRIDGE TO LOVE, Herkness’ first published novel, and if you have read it, you know, you’ll be in for a treat with her latest one too. If you haven’t yet, start with THE MONEY MAN, and then make your way through other great reads of hers.

What sets THE MONEY MAN apart from the flurry of contemporary romance novels is its perfect pacing and utterly refreshing realism. The sparks between the protagonists fly freely, yet not at every curve and corner do they have to go all the way, but they keep it often light and lovely. It is easy to instantly like the intelligent heroine Alice, a tax consultant, and to quickly fall for the handsome hero, a highly successful financial start-up founder. Both surround themselves with a network of great friends and colleagues, to bounce off their thoughts and ideas. A rarity in contemporary romance that all too often focuses on two people and maybe their very best friend only, which makes for rather one dimensional and unbelievable stories. Kudos to Herkness for juggling, and successfully so, multiple characters, all letting each other shine and unfolding the story to its greatness.

The romance in THE MONEY MAN is sweet and tasteful, and the heroine is no damsel in distress. On the contrary! She is a modern businesswoman, who is smart enough to look for a solution for the identified problem and not shying away to seek the counsel of a bigger fish in the pond, who happens to be a man. What could have easily been corny in the hands of a lesser writer, became a marvelous read thanks to Herkness’ craft.

Aside from the expected romantic element, we also encounter a heap of suspense, some of it so realistic that it becomes almost nail-bitingly real. Everything resolves in the end, and there will be a happy one. How it comes to that? Start at the beginning and have a good time while following Alice, Derek, Natalie, Tully, Leland, and more.

Even if I think the characters are interesting and the story sweet there was too much technical jargon I couldn't understand and the story didn't keep my attention.
Not my cup of tea.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Alice a book keeper, meets Derek, a high powered accountant, when she spots a tiny discrepency in five clients' books, but can't work out why. They start looking into it together and it turns out to be a more serious problem than they thought it would be.

Not sure what happened with this book - I liked the heroine, the hero and there were some interesting secondary characters I assume will have their own books later in the series, even the plot,. and yet it just didn't quite pull me in. I couldn't quite care what happened between Alice and Derek. It might have been I just wasn't in the right mood, I don't know. Whatever the reason, this fell a bit flat for me.
