Great romance, great suspense! An excellent addition to the Florida Wildlife Warriors series. I really loved Josh and Delilah from page 1 and following their story all the way through the book. I love Josh because he is the protective law enforcement type. I love Delilah because her history is unique with a crazy family and her determination to save her sister. She will do anything to save Mary. The addition of excellent characters from the FWC family and the small Florida town make the book even more enjoyable. I can't wait to read more of these books!

Delilah has gone back to where she grew up with one purpose, to save her 16 year old sister, Mary, from being forced to marry someone against her will. Delilah's family lives off the grid in the wilds of Florida. Here woman are taught to be silent and loyal, while men are the rulers. After a terrifying event when Delilah was 16 she ran away, but knows she can't let her sister down.
Josh is an FWC officer determined to find out what is going on after there were several attempts on Delilah's life. She is reluctant to ask anyone for help, but thankfully Josh won't give up on her.
Can Delilah find her sister before it is too late, and will she finally open her heart to Josh and allow him to help?
Great book, lots of action with a sprinkle of romance .
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this book. This is the first book by Connie Mann that I read. I was able to follow the story line even though I did not read the first book in this series. I enjoyed this book so much I plan on reading the first book in this series. I was impressed with the strong female character.

I was really excited to see that the second book in this series was out for review on Net Galley. Josh is an officer with the wild life commission in Ocala, Florida. Delilah is a student in the masters program at a Florida university. She is from Ocala so is doing lots of research about the monkey population there. Not so incidentally she also wants to find her almost 16 yo sister and remove her from their anti-government survivalist family before she is married off.

All would have gone as planned for Delilah if she hadn"t run across a dead body with a bear nearby. Josh is called in to investigate so their lives become entwined. The story takes off from there keeping me interested. The only negative for me in this story is how Delilah treats Josh. The poor guy does not know if she will go off on her own or accept his help.

Overall a good story.

Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for letting me read Beyond Power by Connie Mann early! According to Netgalley, this book comes out on September 1st, but according to Goodreads, this book comes out on January 26th, so I’m not 100% sure when it’s actually releasing, but that’s not too big of a deal, because whenever it’s releasing, you should definitely check it out!
Beyond Power 4/5 Stars
Summary from Goodreads: When your heart's involved...
If you dare venture beyond Disney's magic and Miami's high-rises, you'll find yourself in Florida's untamed wilderness. A bush pilot and officer for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Josh Tanner is one of the tough cops needed to manage these rugged areas. And the minute he finds Delilah Atwood deep in the woods without a good explanation, he knows something is very wrong...
All the stakes are raised...
Delilah barely escaped her ultra-fundamental militia family years ago. Now she's back to save her sixteen-year-old sister, and no government man is going to stop her. Josh isn't going to stand by and watch Delilah risk her life, but unless he can get her to trust him, she may end up being the next victim.
This book was a really fun read! It was the perfect mix of action and adventure, nature and law enforcement, romance and thriller- exactly what I enjoy reading these days! I really liked Josh as a love interest and secondary main character. Delilah was a great main character and the more I read about her and how she grew up, the more I respected her and wanted to read about her journey (and more and more about her and Josh). The story was really interesting- people from outside of Florida are always hearing about it as a state full of weird/crazy things, so I enjoyed reading a book about something that could be a “crazy Florida story” but a militia seems way more midwestern than Floridian, so that was pretty cool! The romance in this book wasn’t as intense or in the forefront as Delilah’s familial bonds/need to save her sister, which was nice to see, but also, like I could have used just a littttttle more romance. All in all though, this was a really good, fun, and exciting read!

She has come home to rescue her sister. Raised in a lifestyle where woman are silent ALWAYS. Where the men are king. And young girls are married as soon as it is legal. But she ran away . . .and now has to find her sister and save her. Does she have the power to do this? Can she trust anyone to help her? Totally loved this book . . . .kept me on the edge of my seat all the way!!!

Beyond Power by Connie Mann

Beyond Power is my first Connie Mann book, but definitely not my last!

Delilah Paige was raised as a survivalist in the swamps of central Florida, taught never to trust authority and to blend into the background in order not to be noticed. As an adult, it is a complete reversal for her to put herself out as a researcher of the wild monkey troops in the same swamps from which she escaped, advocating for the monkeys to remain in the wild while educating humans not to feed them to keep the animals from becoming aggressive with humans who offer no food. She looks forward to seeing hunky Josh “Hollywood” Tanner at the local coffee shop, but must avoid any real entanglement with law enforcement. Finding a body apparently killed by a bear brings them into close contact regardless, and Delilah must find a way to work with Josh without revealing her background and true reason for being in the area. Sparks fly. How will Josh resist the pull while remaining heart whole? Fast paced and exciting read, Beyond Power catches one’s interest from the first page.

Josh “Hollywood” is as hot as his nickname suggests. As an FWC cop he spends his time outdoors protecting people and wildlife. Delilah is back in her hometown to study the monkeys and also to rescue her younger sister from an illegal marriage. The story is action filled as Delilah is in constant danger from someone trying to kill her. Josh and his team spend their time trying to solve the mystery and keep Delilah safe. Josh goes into protective mode as they move in together for safety. Love is the result as these two wary people open their hearts to each other. A wonderful book you will enjoy reading more than once as you get to know these wonderful characters.

Josh is an officer with the Florida FWC (Fish and Wildlife Conservation).  Delilah is a student working on a research grant studying the rhesus macaque monkey.  She escaped a family of extreme survivalists at the age of sixteen and now she is back to get her little sister out before it is too late. Using her research as a reason to be searching in the woods surrounding Ocala, she searches for her family's homestead. While looking for her family and studying the monkeys, Delilah's life is threatened and she must figure out if it is her estranged family or someone else much more sinister threatening her.  Josh happens to be the one to save Delilah on several occasions.  Can he keep his heart from getting involved?  Is it already too late and can he convince Delilah to trust him with her heart as well as her protection?

Beyond Power is the second book in the Florida Wildlife Warriors Series.  Not having read the first book in this series, I do not feel as if I were missing parts of the story.  I will go and read the first book now as this book has been so good.  It is a well written action packed thriller.  It was a quick read for me as I had a hard time putting it down.  The story has plot twists and turns that I never guessed keeping me on the edge of my seat.  I love Josh's strong character.  He is loyal and honest and his family and friends show Delilah what it is like to belong rather than to be hidden while surrounded by people.

I definitely recommend this book.   I received a free copy and am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.

Delilah Attwood is determined to rescue her sister, and no one, not even hot cop, Josh Tanner, is going to get in her way.

This book has not only romance and suspense, but draws you into the Ocala National Forest and a rarely seen look at the local monkey population.

Kudos to another great book in this series. Looking forward to more!

Another perfect story. Delilah is found in the woods by Josh. He feels something is wrong and tries to find out what it is. I couldn’t stop reading until I found out what happened. Don’t miss out when it’s released.

She’s a primate researcher who also escaped from the local fundamentalist militia group. Now she’s trying to rescue her little sister from the group- before they marry her off at the age of 16! He’s with the local fish and wildlife force and sparks fly once they meet. Will they fall in love while he helps her in her quest?

This thriller romance is sweet but sexy without graphic sex scenes. The characters are relatable and appealing, the setting is unusual, and the tried and true quest plot is told in a new and refreshing way.

I would recommend this book to my patrons.

Beyond Power by Connie Mann is the second book in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series. Having read the first book in this series I was thrilled to get my hands on this book so I could continue getting to know the characters and this part of Florida.

The plot was quickly paced with explosive action, murder, attempted murder, survivalists, underground militia as well as friendships, family ties, and romance. I enjoyed every page with all of the twists and heartaches as secrets are revealed. Ms. Mann's descriptive writing made the Florida wilderness come to life and her characters develop into individuals that you want to know and help them reach their goals.

I love romantic suspense and this one did not disappoint.
Delilah is a monkey researcher, completing a research paper, while trying to find her sister. She must find her before her birthday. She keeps coming into contact with Josh, a Fish and Wildlife officer. You can definitely feel the sparks whenever the two get near. Although, neither one wants to admit it.
This book was full of suspense. However, there were a few times that I just wanted to reach in and smack Delilah. She takes a lot of foolish risks. I loved the added monkey facts. Almost wished it included some of the pictures that Delilah was taking.
This was my first book by Connie Mann, but will not be my last.

I had read everything Connie had written and was delighted to be able to read and write a review on her latest book. Beyond Power. It is #2 in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series. The first book was Beyond Risk. I very much enjoy Connie’s Voice when she writes. Her style is easy to read and clear as a bell. You feel what the people are feeling. It is a quick but exciting book.

I particularly enjoyed the information about the local wildlife, forest and rivers. If you have never visited the Ocala National Forest and kayaked on the Silver River you should make it a must.

I felt she handled all of the simultaneous plot lines deftly. There were the monkeys (which, yes, do live there); the survivalists, which I was amazed by the insights she offered. The militia, who are probably more active than we all realize. The love story that binds the whole book together was paced perfectly. I can’t wait to read more about the FWC and their adventures. We need stories on the whole crew, right?!

Beyond Power is Connie Mann’s second book in her Florida Wildlife Warriors series.

We often forget that beyond Disney World and the beaches, Florida is quite rural and wooded. Josh Tanner is a pilot and officer for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, derogatorily called the Fish Cops.

Delilah has come back to the Ocala region to rescue her sister Mary. Mary will soon turn sixteen and will suffer the same fate that Delilah had escaped from years ago, being married off within an ultra-fundamental militia group. Self-sufficient from her upbringing, she nevertheless will need to trust Josh and his FWC squad of heroes to rescue Mary. Her search for her sister brings up illegal fire arms dealing, militia alliances, and corrupt politicians that put a target on Delilah’s back. Adventure, suspense and romance ensue.

Mann really knows her setting. You can feel the heat and humidity while reading her descriptions of the wooded landscapes and lakes of this part of Florida. Also, who knew there were monkeys in Florida? But, since it is Florida, there should be no surprise at all the crazy critters down there.

It is a nice change to have characters in a suspense/adventure novel that are not your standard police detective, attorney or military member.

There are a couple of love scenes but nothing explicit in detail or language. The fade to fireworks kind of love scenes that gives you a hint of heat.

I look forward to the next book in the Florida Wildlife Warriors series.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC

2.BEYOND POWER....Connie Mann
Delilah listening to local gossip, and wanting to find her sister before her sixteen birthday. Her antigovernment paranoid family didn’t know she was back in town. Studying the monkeys that lived here and getting a camper ready for her and her sister, Mary. Josh Tanner he was an officer with the Florida Fish and Wildlife came into the cafe, along with memories past.
Media and people now know what she is researching, the good and the bad, until her life is in jeopardy. Saying she can take care of herself, and with Josh as a cop, he does. Interesting about what Josh job entailed, and the waterways of Florida. Good plot, with some romance.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion from Net Halley and Sourcepower.

This is an action packed, a little romance, do not want to put down book! Great characters, good and bad, that you get to know through their back stories. The location of forest, forest roads and rivers added to the story for me as it is basically my backyard.

There is a lot going on in this book and Connie makes it all work. You find yourself rooting for Xena and Hollywood to survive all that is thrown at them and happy when they do.

I think anyone who reads this book will enjoy it and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

The blurb for this book drew me in, but the content left me disappointed. I'm a lover of romantic suspense. I cut my teeth on authors like Catherine Coulter, Karen Rose, and Lisa Jackson. So any time a romantic suspense author pops up for review I jump at the chance.

My issue with this book was that the character of Delilah. She was indecisive about receiving help from Josh the hero. Which led to some really stupid decisions. Look, not all heroines have to be bad asses capable of doing it on their own. I would have been totally find with her graciously accepting help. But she kept insisting she could do it on her own, and I was practically yelling at the book "NO YOU CANNOT!"

I liked that Josh worked for Fish and Wildlife, it's an interesting and different take on the cop as hero. Being familiar with the general area that they were in I could really appreciate how difficult his job was. But Josh just wasn't enough to make me like this book more.

If you're looking for a fast paced romantic suspense check out any of the authors mentioned above.

Beyond Power, starts out with a lot of suspense and continues through the whole book with the same amount of suspense. I had a hard time putting it down. Actually read it in a day and a half.
