A phenomenal read. This one will have you holding your breath, laughing out loud, shaking your head, and feeling fiercely patriotic as you go through this book.

Great characters with individually wonderful personalities work together in this book and it certainly raised my opinion and rating. Even the bad guys had personalities that you get to know throughout this one.

This book is packed with action, with constantly moving parts and just a tiny hint of romance. But this one is for us action lovers. I think anyone who reads this book will enjoy it and want to see this characters again.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a good well rounded book and the first book I've read from the author (Thanks NetGalley for the early read!)

Delilah is a monkey researcher but also has some other reason to come back to the area she grew up in. She gets caught up in some intrigue and is put in danger because of her past and Josh, an officer from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (I didn't know these were even cops!) ends up protecting her as they uncover the truth. It was great to become acquainted with the rest of the team and I know that this series will be good based on this story! I think the only thing is that the push and pull of their relationship did take a while to resolve and her stubbornness did get a little tiring after a while.

It was overall a pretty fast moving story and towards the end, I couldn't imaging putting the book down. I needed to know what happened. It was well written and interesting and I loved the little facts about the monkeys as well. I look forward to the future stories about this team!

I am a big fan of romantic suspense - I especially love romantic suspense where the heroine isn't sitting there waiting for someone to rescue her. Unfortunately, I didn't love this book.

Delilah is a researcher who is back in her home town to do research on a population of monkeys there - but also rescue her sister from their survivalist and fundamentalist family. Her family had tried to force her in to marriage at 16 - and she was able to escape and restart her life. Josh is an officer with the Fish and Wildlife Commission in the everglades. Its definitely a family affair on the team he works with. He is attracted to Delilah and can't stop trying to help her - even as she resists his help.

So - what didn't I like? Well - Delilah had a lot of TSTL moments. I applaud her wanting to take charge - but she waffled around so much - taking help, but then pushing it away for no reason. It was just a really weird push-pull. I understood her history - but at a certain point it just became irritating that she "could take care of herself" and pushed everyone away - only to change her mind and need help on the next page. I feel like they could have rescued her sister and dealt with the other issues a lot better if she had worked with Josh and his team more. I also didn't understand why certain things were brought up. For example, the mystery of the monkey babies missing moms - if that wasn't involved in the story -why even bring it up? Same with Josh's former fiance. Her death had a significant impact on him - but by the end of the story he hadn't even mentioned it to Delilah. What was the point?

Overall - I just didn't love this book.

I received it as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

I’m a massive fan of Connie Mann, and this series, and boy was this book good. Fantastic story, superb characters, not just Delilah and Josh, but all the secondary characters as well. I love vex the relationship between our two main characters, and the push and pull they have between their hearts and heads. There was so much in this story that I was glued to it from the first page. I was exhausted by the end and that’s the sign of a great book when you get so drawn in, you feel like your going through everything there going through. Xena and Hollywood rocked. Really hope the next book is about Pete and Fish...there’s definitely a story there.

Honestly such a fab read

Delilah escaped her survivalist family at 16 when they tried to force her to marry a much older man. Now she is back to rescue her sister Mary, who will be 16 shortly and is going to be forced to be married. Can Delilah rescue her sister in time and what price will she pay. Someone wants her gone and will stop at nothing to get her out of the way. This book has action, suspense and a romance. I thought Delilah was way to impulsive sometimes, but I still liked her. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Delilah Atwood is in the Florida forest studying monkeys when she comes across a dead body. Delilah escaped her family at sixteen when they tried to marry her off to an older man. Delilah’s family are survivalists and part of a militia that’s against the government. Josh Tanner is a Fish and Wildlife cop and knows Delilah is hiding something. There have been several attempts on Delilah’s life and Josh will do anything to protect her. Delilah is trying to find her family before her sisters sixteenth birthday because they are marrying her off too. Can they find her before it’s too late?
Action and suspense. Some romantic parts. A crazy militia group, a Xena warrior woman, and a man who has been hurt before. Fairly good story. Delilah bothered me at times with her pushing and pulling Josh.

Not your typical romantic suspense novel. This story started slow but the pace quickly picked up. Based in Florida, my home state, the characters are well-developed and not your usual run-of-the-mill plot lines. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review. For Connie: (P.S. My mother died three years ago with senile dementia for more than eight years, my husband and I cared for her as she lived with us, until she broke her hip and was in a nursing home for the last four months. It was painful to watch as slowly she lost all, short and long term, memories. I could not have done it without my rock, my husband. Bless all the people who are caregivers.)
